how come id's later Wolfenstein 3D is called the first FPS when their own Catacomb 3D came out a year earlier?

@TheAdam159 this isn't a fps game (first person shooter) because you just shoot magic not guns. this game wasn't even the first game with a first person perspective in 1974 there was a game called maze war but you didn't shoot guns in it neither it was more like balls. So wolfenstien 3d was the first ''true'' fps.

Is it TRULY important which was first ? just be happy with the fact that its one of the great game that paved the road to modern gaming.

-Also they are sooooooooo many different WAYS to definite an fps, I could say that shooting galleries were the true first person shooter games EVER :P and we all be RIGHT in a sense.

I gotta love seeing characters in other FPS games.

Like the main character looks like a mix between BJ Blazkowicz from Wolfenstein and the DOOM guy. Or that last boss looks like a Hitler-ghost(From Wolf3d) and those red demons like the Pinkies from DOOM.

@mouthmw Well actually Catacomb is not really a real FPS beacuse there is no weapons but it's the ground for FPS games :) So actually you have right. Wolf. 3D is the first REAL FPS game..
