My friend has a little dote. Taylor is 9 and the poor little fella had to get an eye out and his remaining eye is not the best either.He looks like a pirate;) Snores too... Hasn't stopped him! He will happily sit and lavish attention and is as small as a cat. He's too small for roughhousing with kids and do not let him out of your sight as they are small enough to steal.

We have a Japanese Chin rescue and his name is Bodie. He is 7 years and acts like a cat! We call him the Magician because he can get on our tables when we are at work even though ALL of the chairs are pushed in toward the table! Also he is the star in some of my voice over videos. @XFuturisticLoverXx There seems to be some lines of Chin that were originally bred to be circus performers back in the 17 and 1800s (I'm not making this up) and so you will find basically 2 different body types: short legged, cobby body, fuller coat (lap dogs) and long legged, greyhound type body and thinner coat (athletic). When searching for your perfect agility Chin, look for parents that have the athletic build and you will have an amazing little acrobatic sprinting monkey! Good luck!
@MissMacArthur799 Just keep in mind that Chins have a totally unique playing style that only other Chins understand and respond to. They "spar" with their faces, and it is amazing to watch how each playmate is constantly aware to take care with the bulging eyes of his friend. Other breeds tend to be a bit too rough in the snapping department and you could end up with a Chin with scratched corneas and such. Just be mindful and talk to your breeder about this before you decide to adopt.

they're probably one of the most unquie dog breeds anyone could have. i have one for almost 8 years now, she's the best dog friend - well, she's MY friend, which makes her so special. i couldn't have asked for a better dog ^.^

I love the personality they are so different from any other dog i have been around. I groom dogs so that says a lot. I resqued her at the end of Feb. this year she will be 3 in august. She howels instead of barking and she cleans her paws alot. these dogs are something else

If you are walking them and they see another dog, they dont bark and try to run and pull you to it. And even if they did try to pull, they have about as much strength as gold fish.

Its so true that they arnt dogs for training lol My 2 do sit and lay down etc but when they feel like it. They will happily ignore you and sit there like they are on a throne... Until its feeding time it is, and then they are your best friend again. You will also find they stick to one person, they can be family pets but will stick to one person.
I've got my first Chin as a pet 30 years ago. I love this breed! I now have a 5 y/o, 6lb male who is bad as hell but you gotta love his spirit! His AKC name is Raidonichi Emperor PittyPatt but we call him "Cooper". Six pounds of pimp'n!

( the runt of the litter,as in, charlottes web) also have a sheltie and austrian shepherd mix. jake. the guard dog. wilbur is the lover. best companion dog ever. so adorable when you ask him a question and he turns his head sideways. those adorable eyes are priceless. the best part of all... no yappy barking. only barks on a rare occassion, you know ,like when a dog that weighs 100 pounds more than he does comes by his fence. he's such a tough guy.

Ugly??? Absolutely not!!! This is a beautiful breed. I have owned seven Chin and they have been the easiest breed I've ever had. They are elegant and most are quite dignified, and each is devoted and loveable in his own way. Yes, they are expensive, but worth it. They follow you into each room, wanting to be near you, either in your lap or in bed. This is a truly marvelous breed. I adore them!!! They are the greatest!!!
My chin, Bling-Bling, is the cutest most affection dog I've ever been owned by! Seriously! The other day my daughter, who dislikes dogs generally, said, "If we parachuted a bunch of chins into Afghanistan and Iraq, the war on terror would be over because they are so cute and sweet, the terrorists would all put down their weapons to cuddle the chins!" And I've had people try to steal him more than once! So, ugly? No. Unaffectionate? Absolutely THE OPPOSITE! Still, don't get one... more for us!
Before my current chin, I had only had Collies and swore I'd NEVER have a toy breed. Then I moved to Paris, France where housing is tiny & I couldn't have a large dog. I was in-between dogs (6 yrs w/o one!) and started researching breeds. I considered a Schipperkee but was concerned about the high energy. Then I thought about Papillons, but they're yappy & nervous. The chin satisfies all the requirements for apt living: Box-trainability, low maintenance, little to no barking, etc. Look into it!

I would NEVER go on another link and talk down about a breed that you KNOW is going to upset the lovers of the breed. This breed is a toy breed, It was not made for gaurding. This dog was made to be a companion dog. You probably would do better with a breed like a Pit Bull but for people like me we prefer quiet friendly companions.

Ah they're soo kawwai! I love this breed, my dog is half Chin, the other half pekingese. After seeing pictures of this breed we finally figured out why she didn't look quite like a pekingese.

My aunt had one (he died) he was a little aggressive and would bite some people, but he would scratch at my aunt's door when she was inside, and he was so smart he jumps over puddles and pees on leaves..........

Its so true that they arnt dogs for training lol My 2 do sit and lay down etc but when they feel like it. They will happily ignore you and sit there like they are on a throne... Until its feeding time it is, and then they are your best friend again. You will also find they stick to one person, they can be family pets but will stick to one person.

I've got my first Chin as a pet 30 years ago. I love this breed! I now have a 5 y/o, 6lb male who is bad as hell but you gotta love his spirit! His AKC name is Raidonichi Emperor PittyPatt but we call him "Cooper". Six pounds of pimp'n!

we have one. $600 . his name is wilbur. ( the runt of the litter,as in, charlottes web) also have a sheltie and austrian shepherd mix. jake. the guard dog. wilbur is the lover. best companion dog ever. so adorable when you ask him a question and he turns his head sideways. those adorable eyes are priceless. the best part of all... no yappy barking. only barks on a rare occassion, you know ,like when a dog that weighs 100 pounds more than he does comes by his fence. he's such a tough guy.

Ugly??? Absolutely not!!! This is a beautiful breed. I have owned seven Chin and they have been the easiest breed I've ever had. They are elegant and most are quite dignified, and each is devoted and loveable in his own way. Yes, they are expensive, but worth it. They follow you into each room, wanting to be near you, either in your lap or in bed. This is a truly marvelous breed. I adore them!!! They are the greatest!!!

My chin, Bling-Bling, is the cutest most affection dog I've ever been owned by! Seriously! The other day my daughter, who dislikes dogs generally, said, "If we parachuted a bunch of chins into Afghanistan and Iraq, the war on terror would be over because they are so cute and sweet, the terrorists would all put down their weapons to cuddle the chins!" And I've had people try to steal him more than once! So, ugly? No. Unaffectionate? Absolutely THE OPPOSITE! Still, don't get one... more for us!

Before my current chin, I had only had Collies and swore I'd NEVER have a toy breed. Then I moved to Paris, France where housing is tiny & I couldn't have a large dog. I was in-between dogs (6 yrs w/o one!) and started researching breeds. I considered a Schipperkee but was concerned about the high energy. Then I thought about Papillons, but they're yappy & nervous. The chin satisfies all the requirements for apt living: Box-trainability, low maintenance, little to no barking, etc. Look into it!
