I'm not sure Germany could have defeated Russia. Russia did a magnificent job of organizing their industry. With unlimited space and people, they may have defeated Germany in a long-term war of resources. Their tanks were quite good, as was their army toward the end of the war.

Must admit that the Germans have learned a few lessons. Now in Afganistan they have a contract with NATO which says that they do not have to leave the barracks at night.

If the germans were not fighting a war on 2 fronts they would easily have kicked the russians arses. I always find it interesting that France and England declared war on Germany when they invaded Poland yet the Russians invaded Poland a few days after the Germans and no one cared. And when the war ended Poland lingered under Soviet occupation for decades.

Your points about Poland are interesting. There wasn't much difference between Hitler and Stalin. The west couldn't afford to take on both Germany and Russia.
I'm not sure Germany could have defeated Russia. Russia did a magnificent job of organizing their industry. With unlimited space and people, they may have defeated Germany in a long-term war of resources. Their tanks were quite good, as was their army toward the end of the war.
