It would have been an almost pitch perfect performance if he'd managed to hit those notes at the end. Unfortunately that's probably what all the people voting remembered. The awful bit at the end! But I think Waterman could have done better with the song. It's just pop by numbers. Although I like the song, it's really catchy, it's nothing special. But definitely didn't deserve last. There were quite a few worse songs. Spain anyone? Plus Josh wasn't helped by those awful backing singers.
I think people are being too hard on him and the song, without facing up to the reality that the voting has nothing to do with quality of the songs. We have enough to do with planning the Olympics anyway and don't want to host Eurovision soon.
I thought it was really good. How can anybody say that annoying German song made for 10-16 year olds is better? They won because nobody else can afford to host the next Eurovision. They wonder why we don't take the competition seriously when it's more about politics than the songs. As long as he had fun it's the main thing. I think he was brave to try. My fav song for ages was Scooch as it looked like we could have fun without caring about the joke of the voting.
we are so good at making music here in the UK, but this was absolutely awful. one of the worst songs i have ever heard - genuinely!, an embarrasment to our country really.
Weldone Josh, really proud of you. I have loved (and supported) this song from the first time on Your Country Needs You and had it in my top 5 songs from the 39.
Cant believe political voting shaped the contest result again. This did not deserve to be 25th (from 39) or only have 10 votes. Hope Josh will go on to bigger and better things and hope to see him back at Eurovision sometime, he was good as co-host on the balcony at the semis. Thanks for "the good times" Josh.
To be honest, the song is actually very memorable- but music fashion has moved on , and there's a very different generation audience now. Was this late a 1980s entry would certainly have won.
Maybe PW is planning to go into musical theatre like Lloyd Webber, as the lyrics we're quite a departure from the boy meets girl of practically all his former efforts.
Well done Josh though, it's the only track that I can still remember the tune to.
We need to stop doing these stupid BBC talent shows and look for somebody with real talent. Josh is good, don't get me wrong, but in the grand scheme of things he's got a very average voice and has as much stage presence as my A Level Physics textbook. We need to find somebody who can blow Europe away with their voice, and get a composer who can write songs that are actually above average.
I agree, the backing singers were definitely out of tune all throughout the song. Josh was also out of tune slightly at the end, although I think on the whole he put in a really good performance and should be proud of his effort...after all, it's not his fault he was given such a crap song. Good luck to you Josh in the future!
uuuuh bad!

is it just me or are those backing singers completely off key and ruining some good singing by Josh? Absolutely diabolical. No wonder we never win.

@McKentPagan Yeah they were off key, badly off key. Josh sung very well though. Poor writing skills by Pete Waterman led to this bad result :(
