  • Luckily for us Director Ridley Scott is going to solve the mystery of the space jockeys in the upcoming Alien prequel. I really hope he can get this franchise back on its feet. Honestly, I think he is our last hope. Otherwise I've wasted 20 years of my life obsessing over Alien vs. Predator for nothing.

  • Hollywood's attempts to go back and add to this franchise have been pathetic and childish. The AvP film made back in 2004 made the predators out to be ancient gods who helped early civilizations build pyramids, which was stupid. SERIOUSLY! Paul Anderson didn't know a damn thing about AvP. Requiem was no better. Ever since the AvP franchise veered away from the mysterious Space Jockey race it has lost its eerie scary vibe. This vibe was more prevalent in the 80s and early 90s.

  • This game will live forever in the chronicles of foot person shooter gaming history. The story and setting was perfect, the graphics were great, the sounds were perfect, the scary vibe was perfect. It is a PURE CLASSIC! Even as the badass predator you walked through the hallways fearful that an alien would pop out of nowhere and kill you. In case you fans never realized it the alien ship in this game was another mysterious derelict space jockey ship like the one in the first alien film.

  • This was the second FPS game I had ever played, the first was Zero Tolerance on the Sega Genesis. The difference in these two games is a lot and this just seemed awesome. It may look dated now but back in 94 it was top of the line. This was the reason why I bought a Jaguar and I had been an Atari fan back in 80s.

  • It's funny how Atari had a keypad on the 5200, then decided against it on the 7800, then brought it back for the Jaguar.

And now you can get optional keyboards for the Xbox 360 and PS3 controllers. We've come full circle.

  • I like pseudo-3d graphics, they're faster!

  • pc version is more great than this

  • @rkhussain ......The Jag version came out in 1994 while the PC game came out in 1999, kind of hard to compare the two. The only connection the two games have beyond the concept is that Rebellion Software developed both games and actually made the newest AvP game for the 360/PS3 and PC.

  • @ViciousAlienKlown i mean it was jag64 and when for the pc released that time i had pentium 2 333MHz, 32mb ram, check quake 2 in 64 and ps 1, ps1's quake 2 was even better than jag's all fps

  • This game is ultimately rather flawed and limited, but I have a lot of respect for it:

The textures and monsters look very convincing, there's a significant amount of depth and variety in the gameplay, and somehow they manage to make it atmospheric and suspenseful. No mean feat.

  • I like this game, it makes having the Jag worth it, I even have the Jag CD but there is no AVP game or something like it on the Jag CD

  • @abedjan It's a shame they did not put AVP on CD, because I found out that one of the 5 processors in AVP was used solely to decompress textures. That extra processor could have been used for higher textures, faster frame rate, or numerous other stuff. I shall forever wonder why Atari did not include the CD from day one.

  • this game is the shit iam lookin at theses videos and i see the retards and dumb shits saying its not so great the there are games out now that are better of course you dumb fucks this game came out alomost 17 years ago like the mid 90s you dumb fucks

  • Rayman is good too.

  • For an Atari Jaguar game, this is freaking fantastic. The best looking game on this system, hands down (and it plays good too !). If only Atari had more games of this quality for the Jaguar. Too bad 95% of the rest of the library was crud.

  • Iron Soldier 2 would probably take the best looking game award. Although this is a great looking game.

  • hav u been out lately the games are much better than this rubbish : P

  • those barrels look like there from doom

  • Its not fun to say , but I've given this game every chance i could, but simply cannot find anything fun about it. And Ive really tried to enjoy it, really tried! because I was hoping one jag game i have would make the system worthwhile. even tempest 2000, while decent, is littered with choppy fps

  • There are a lot of good Jaguar games; Checkered Flag, Doom, Atari Karts, Iron Soldier 2, Battlemorph, Rayman etc. etc.

  • This is insanely detailed for how old it is. The nightvision/infrared is pretty much as good as what we have today. Cheap animations and card graphics are all that give this away as an older game. Nintendo DS still couldnt run this!

  • Its actually a wolfenstien 3d derived game engine. Correct me if im wrong but cant most mobile phones run wolfenstien?

  • Doom has the Wolfenstein game engine. This game has a custom game engine created by the developers. I'm sure this game was very costly to make but it was worth every penny of the $69.99 i paid back in 94.

  • what a fucking great game, oh by the way i just cum

  • btw the ds can most certainly run this. even GBA can with better framerate. most 8 yr old cellphones prob could too.

  • The GBA had trouble running Ecks Vs. Sever and Doom. I highly doubt it could run this without horribly washed out graphics and an awful frame rate.

  • ?!!!??!!????!!!!!?????????!!!!!!!!

  • Game scared me shitless back in the day.

  • You were playing super mario brothers when this was released.

  • best Jaguar game.

  • facepalm.JPG

  • best game on the machine. the rest of em sucked. apart from syndicate 2 maybe.

  • TEMPEST 2000, RAYMAN? (though those were both ported to the saturn and playstation)

  • This was, and still is, the best AvP game ever made. If they made a game based on this, took nothing out/added nothing new, it would be awesome.

  • this game was always scary as fuck.

  • the  old game -__-;;

  • This game was pretty sweet; you could play as the Marine, Alien, or Predator. The Alien mode was hard as fuck and involved a lot of waiting, while the Predator game was easy as hell. The Marine game was somewhere inbetween, and naturally had a fucked up twist ending.

  • this game owned back in the day!

  • i want that game

  • Man being the predator was always so easy. You just owned everything.

    Great game.

  • wonder why aliens and marines dnt fight each other? bit of a design flaw it wud av looked betta watchin them fite whilst cloaked

  • loved the fact this game had no music as it only intensified the creepiness of the game , they got the effex spot on too like when the pred changes views exactly like movie, deffo best game for jag

  • I remember playing AvP on the Jag when it first came out and it blew me away then! I still have fun playing this title. AvP is one of the best games for the legendary system.

  • my dad bought me this way back then when this was the first 64-bit console. I later got the N64. Jaguar was awesome and had some great games. Plus no one really knows about it.

  • hmm, think i might have to buy an atari now

  • This game scared the crap out of me back in the day and it was mainly because you couldnt hear thier foot steps!

  • It still remains THE best Alien game for any console and has it where it counts, the playability and atmospere is still second to none!

    It's a CLASSIC 14 years on!

  • I thought the same when I started playing it yesterday, but once I started you realise just how good it still is!

Project Tempest and the rom are on Google, download it and give it a try!

  • Looked better in screenshots too...

  • cool effects with the predators visions. this game showed what jaguar was really capable of

  • this may sound stupid, but is this 3d or pseudo-3d?

  • pseudo-3d

  • @sega31098 It is real 3d. The Jag had hardware for polygon and texture processing. Compare the Jag to the CD32 from 1993 too, you will see the Jag is way better.

  • @meowmmmmm The jag actually has no texture memory, it all has to be done in software.

  • @ItsCoolFromSaturn Using DMA and one of the 5 processors, textures were pulled from the cartridge and decompressed in real time and dumped into the 2MB of unified memory. This made the Jag faster than the Saturn as there was no bottleneck between system and video memory. The Saturn only has 512K of dedicated 3D Memory, but no direct texture memory. Now bare in mind that the whole AVP game is highly compressed and only 4MB on Cartridge!

  • @meowmmmmm That's all well and good, but it has no dedicated memory designed specifically for that to make the developers job easier.

  • @sega31098 It's called 2.5D.

  • The Jaguar was 60 times more powerful than todays xbox360 or playstation 3

  • r u doing drugs?

  • dexantiprejudist u must be a serious retard cuz how on earth can a jaguar be 60 times more powerful than a Xbox 360?. dude.....you need to think before u say crap that doesnt make sense.

  • no hes rite it was much more powerful

  • Microsoft Cockbox

  • i always has fun turning people to aliens that was a first for the time....and to my knowledge an only (tail,swipe,tail)....i think

  • i remember when i first played this it was badass!!the atmosphere and mood in this game are great...i only liked playing with the marine though..predator and alien were too hard as u can see from this video

  • Marine was hard as hell. You couldn't hear the aliens coming for you. Alien was so easy. You just run past everyone. Predators you can easily cloak.

  • can you get this for computer??

  • This version is exclusive to Jaguar.

There is a 1999 release for PC:

    en(dot)wikipedia(dot)org/wiki/Aliens_versus_Predator_%28computer_game%29

  • @deanpook This game was ported to the Sega Saturn and Playstation sometime after

  • @SuperDave341 No, this game was only on the Jaguar, while there was an Alien game on the Playstation it was the same......you're thinking either Alien Trilogy or Alien Resurrection...neither was by Rebellion Software who made the Jag version.

  • you can use virtual jaguar emulator to play it on PC

  • @zombiekiller550

just look up atari jaguar emulator, download the aliens vs predator rom for the jaguar if you can find it, and run it in the emulator.

  • I wouldn't call the original Doom evem a little scary. Doom 3 on the other hand...that scared the shit out of me

  • I highly agree with u on that I had never seen anything like Doom 3.

  • Doom was scary when it came out, well i was shit scared but maybe thats because i was only 8 lol

  • That's abpout when I played it, though it never scared me. FEAR scared me good as well

  • This game had such a great atmosphere to it. Probably the first terrifying FPS. Certainly a good place to kick start the FPS genre. One of hte best. Still fun today

  • this game is classic. it scared the shit out of me wen i played it back then.

  • No aroug, I'm afraid it's you who suck for saying AvP sucks. :)

  • what the hell do u mean???

  • Have you even ever played AvP? ...

  • yes millons of times i beat the game everyday i play!

  • Riiiiiiiiight. You play it all of the time and beat it millions of times...but you think it sucks. That makes A LOT of sense...doesn't it? Just tell the truth, you've never played it and are just saying it sucks just to be a Jag bashing jerk. ;)

  • im saying the other aliens vs predator 2 idoit

  • You didn't say that. You should have been more specific...

  • (sigh)

  • brings back so many memories

  • Kill all marines!
