no it is not. i don't mean to ruin anything for you but we are made to believe that they were trying to kill him because we were watching it from his point of view. if you saw higurashi no naku koroni kai you find that in that specific world he was infected. the disease makes you think that people are out to get you so you get them first. mion and rena are infected to, but they are not put under alot of stress. they actually try to help him, but don't succeed.

true. so u say that the needle in this rice-cake (Rena and Mion made them) was his imagination, too? and all the other things that happened too? i think the explenation episodes are just an excuse so they could go on with the Higurashi anime. It doesnt make sense sometimes when i rewatch the whole anime. but u got a point :-P come to think of it, they probably wanted us to understand the story like u did. thanks for sharing ur interpretation. u are right :-P
