I only hear sound from the right side of the surround sound. Both Front Left and Rear Left don't make noise for ps3. They do when I switch surround sound to DVD/Blue Ray without ps3 usage

Or you can buy two HDMIs and hook it to the back of the PS3 to the receiver and the other into the output HDMI in the back of the receiver to the TV and you have HD sound and Picture :-) composite surround is horrible...(red and white cables) most new receivers have a HDMI input and output..and HDMI is better than optical ;)

JUST BECAUSE YOU HEAR SOUND IN YOUR REAR SPEAKERS DOES NOT MEAN IT IS 5.1 SURROUND SOUND. Your surround sound receiver is merely copying the front channels and putting them in the back speakers as well. The ONLY way you can get 5 discrete channels is to plug the optical cable or hdmi into your surround unit. You clearly don't know what "5.1 surround sound" is.

Yes, that's the only way to get true surround. That, or an hdmi cable plugged into your surround sound receiver and then out of the receiver and into the tv. Or even better, if your tv has an optical output then you can plug that into the surround sound. That way if you have anything else that uses hdmi like a blu

ray, they'll both be able to play in surround sound off the same output.

PLEASE HELP! i connected the two pins from the scart cable into a sort of adapter thing which came with the surround sound. the adapter connects to 1 cable from the system nd leaves the other two. the sound comes out of different speakers depending what cable i use from the surround sound. i cant think of anywhere to plug the other two in and am getting really frustrated with it. For everyone watching this video, this guy has no idea what he is talking about, RCA cables will not give you surround sound. With most amplifiers, connecting this cables will give you left and right audio only, If your amp is set up for pro logic, it will use pseudo surround, which will mean your amp will output to centre and rears also, but it is not surround.

There are currently 4 different ways to get surround, 6 channel input, optical, coaxial and HDMI. none of which is he using

Yes, the dvd player will only send the lower frequenices to the subwoofer and mid and high frequenices to separate speakers, but if you're watching an action movie, you won't have the full 5.1 surround sound with gunshots in only one speaker and an explosion in the other.

McMixter is a fucking prick but he's actually correct. You aren't hearing 5 discrete channels of surround sound. You're just hearing the front channels being copied to the rear speakers which is NOT considered surround sound. If your surround sound unit has an optical cable input you should plug into that from your ps3. I don't care how "smart" you think your surround sound is... it's still not "surround sound" with a left and right RCA connection.

This isn't true surround sound. Using the two AV cables (red + white) will only send stereo sound. Using a optical cable from your ps3 to your amp/receiver would be a lot better.

dont forget to set the sound-settings in the ps3 menu, so you want the sound only via optical.

hdmi cable between your ps3 and hd-tv. here you also need to set the video settings in the ps3 menu to hdmi.

No its just stereo you get. You only hear of its comming from the left or right. For surround, you need a different cable (Expensive) you will see ad the back of your ps3 a black kind of plastic thing you cab push away, there you need to put in some kind of cable with 5 outputs. He just sends out the video in hdmi and sound in stereo with scart
