  • Love this song. The older I get, the more I love these songs

  • @hoover...im looking for the group "acapella"...they performed on a gaither video yrs ago...song was amazing...2 white guys and 2 african-american....any help? i think it was called "im saved" (like the criminal on the cross...)

  • @MrScottbarnett86 i still have it posted. it's called "criminal on the cross" if you do a search for it, it should come up. if all else fails you can try "hoover4000 criminal on the cross"

  • @MrScottbarnett86 - that is an awesome song.

  • I could endlessly listen to this. The love and camaraderie in this group is beautiful to watch.

  • Saw them in Ft. Worth in the early 90's and they did 'Nothing But the Blood' with the help of the audience. Absolutely beautiful and so moving. Wondering if anyone has a video of them doing that song.

  • No one can sing this better than them!

  • That's called a GRAND SLAM HOMERUN!!!

  • 13 people don't know about the wonderful grace of Jesus and need to get saved.

  • Wonderful! George Younce was the greatest bass singer in history IMO. Our congregation sings this song with the same arrangement (without the tricky rhythm changes) and we sound good, but not up to THIS standard! Thanks for posting!

  • who in the world would dislike these guys they are great ................but 13 don't like em' must be some of the enemy's follower's............Bless'd be the name of the Lord Jesus....

  • The best!

  • I agree, and so glad George Yonce's son in law Ernie Haase is following in his footsteps.

  • Now, try singing this song in a church today. More than half of the congregation has probably NEVER heard it. Contemporary music is good, but don't throw out the old stuff, either. Remember, EVERYBODY needs to hear about the "Wonderful Grace of Jesus."

  • The Cathedrals were the best!

  • i noticed that the audience started clapping when they rung those barbershop chords!!!

  • WOW!!!

  • Beautiful HARMONY

  • Hoover,

You upload some great gospel music!! Did you ever hear of a group calle "The Melody Men"? They were around in the late 60s early 70s. Tenor singer was Johnny Bowman, one of the guys was a Cook, I think related to the Florida Boys. John's mom lived next to us and every time they brought that old bus in, I ran to meet the guys. I think I can still smell diesel.

They inspired me to want to sing, but, no talent, no singy..lol.

  • greatest!

  • Please watch our vid singing this songo in portuguese... of course it doesn't sound so great like them but we're trying... watch?v=R1EZb0jQjuw God bless you...

  • beautiful is all i have to say

  • Wonderdul lyric , melody , singers ! God Bless Them !

  • Great song. I am more in to rap and punk rock now but this song I have always loved my mom is a huge Cathedral, Signature sound fan. So i have heard this song and it is one of my favs. R,I.P George and Glenn.

  • What a message

  • I agree, they were a great quartet.

  • I agree. Best quartet ever

  • George Younce. Most likely the the greatest gospel bass singer ever!

  • i agree w/ u hoover

  • Dude, was that Richard Sterban they showed at the end?

  • @ishamarieredwan That was Richard Sterban. Also, all the Oaks were on hand that night and they performed "LIfes Railway to Heaven". The Statler were also there and performed as well

  • @ishamarieredwan i think it is Richard Sterban or it is his twin brother lol

  • @MrKyledude18

what's the name of Richard Sterbans twin brother?

  • @ishamarieredwan yup, he looked as good as he does now...which is rly good to me ;)

  • I had the privilege of seeing the Cathedrals twice on their farewell tour. It was an awesome, powerful experience. I just wish Glen Payne was able to do the second performance I saw.

  • The cathedrals is the best quartet.

  • I remember this was a favourite hymn at our Sunday night services over 50 years ago in a little church in Omaha, NE. ALL VERSES! Talk about an aerobic workout! Our pastor sometimes joked with us for requesting it because it would wear him out, resulting in shorter sermons! So glad to hear it again with all of the rumbling lower parts. <><

  • The bass is a amazing!

  • Another beautiful song.....the old songs are the best.............love the cathedrals!!

  • A Richard Steuben sighting from the Oak Ridge Boys as well!

  • There was no greater quartet and never will be a greater one.

  • i salute you,one of my favorite group 12 yrs.ago

  • Win. Epic Win.

  • What a great group. Just discovered them and am keeping them as one of my favorites. God touched their lives and sang like they were of Gods angels.

  • You can feel the joy of Christ emanating from the writer, Haldor Lillenas, just by listening to this song. I think it's one of the best Christian songs ever written.

  • Amen! Awesome sound quality on this video - thanks for posting - and the song just makes me cry with joy - we love the Cathedrals!!

  • That's amazing... They completely rule... Ernie's tenor and Younce's bass make me cry... I would like to meet them...

    =/

  • Actually, the group had a number of tenors over the years. The original tenor was either Bobby Clark or Roy Tremble. He was followed by Mack Tauton. Through the years there was also Kirk Talley, Danny Funderburk, and finally Ernie Haase. Hope this helps.

  • A friend shared this video with me. I was blessed. Praise the Lord!! Praise His Holy Name!! " Let all the earth fear the Lord: Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him" Psalm 33:8

  • Love this song and their voices blending beautifully.

  • Best rendition of this great old hymn! Not only in style but in the TEMPO it SHOULD be done in.......nice and SPIFFY!! Like a good shuffle does. ; ) Thanks for posting. Love this!

  • One of my favorite songs!! They do a great job!

  • I remember this song from church when i was a little girl - it's even more fun when a whole church of men is singing all the parts and it's a little slower... I miss people singing parts in church!

  • Miss George and Glen so much!!

  • wonderful grace!

  • best quartet of all time!

  • what an amazing voice & lyrics that touches deeply into our hearts.Tnx a lot Mr. Hoover for posting more of the cathedral's songs..God bless you more for untiringly doing it for us. All for God's glory!!

  • In Australia, we appreciate quality. Can someone help me - who was the tenor on the early albums. (Then I found Jesus, etc) Thanks

  • Danny funderburk.... I think that's how you spell it. He has a solo career. He's really good. Him and my dad sing together.

  • @Wesley420420420 who's your Dad?

  • Ernie Haase- check out the clips of him on you tube! He has is own group Ernie Haase and Signature Sound!

  • ukuleleph, the ORIGINAL tenor that I remember from my youth, was Kirk Talley, then Danny Funderburk, and Ernie Haase is the guy in this vid.

  • What a group they made! All that talent and they used it for the glory of God. .

  • ... I know, what a waste.

  • Hino #44 do hinário #4 da CCB.Maravilhoso.

  • é o #75, ñ?

  • i wouldnt call myself a believer but these guys are on point.

  • God Bless ya Hoover! Brings a little tear to my eye everytime I hear these guy's.

  • Amazing!

  • This group of gentleman have thoroughly enhanced my spiritual journey. They are a true example of sharing their God given gift of voice with the world and bringing others to the Lord. George Younce and Glen Payne must be part of the Angel's choir in Heaven. God bless this group for their gift of song!

  • Meu Deus, Muito Bom Deus abençoe estas vozes cada vez mais.

  • Yount will be missed. His base was the best of any quartet out there. May he rest in peace.

  • I've listen to alot of quartets and by far the cathedrals are the best. thier voices are a perfect blend with each other. everytime i hear them its like hearing them for the first time.

  • Wow....They are amazing. The only group that I would say would be the modern equal is Signature Sound. The tenor Mr. Hass ended up marrying George's Daughter. Amazing world we live in and how God uses us to do his will

  • Well Done!!!

  • Que harmonia essa do Cathedrals.

    Maravolhoso!!!

  • What was the top note that ernie sung at the end.

  • CCB BR Hino 75

  • Wonderful grace of Jesus, Greater than all my sin; How shall my tongue describe it, Where shall its praise begin? Taking away my burden, Setting my spirit free; For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me. Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus, Deeper than the mighty rolling sea; Wonderful grace, all sufficient for me, for even me. Broader than the scope of my transgressions, Greater far than all my sin and shame, O magnify the precious Name of Jesus. Praise His Name!
  • THIS IS INCREDIBLE.

I'M LISTENING TO IT IN REPEAT OVER AND OVER!

What a rejoiceful song! I love it!

  • Wonderfullllll.

May GOD bless everyone in 2009

    Happy New Year!!!!!!

    In Gods way

  • I think that it is wonderful that a song begun for the praise of god in the year 1918 and now sung by a quartet in days gone by can still today be found fresh and that even some may hear it for the first time and find their lives blessed.

  • yes it is hernie ....

  • is that ernie haase?

  • woooondeeeerfuull...

  • I remember singing this song as a kid, brings back fond memories!

  • Talent with a capital "T"

  • They make it look easy, but make it sound so good!

  • It is sad to know that, counting their piano player, 60 per cent of this line-up of the Cathedrals has gone. But, as Christians we know we will see all these guys again and be able to sing with them through all eternity.

  • Gees, I miss The Cathedrals, they were an amazing group! YOU can't know how much you will miss someone until they're gone. George and Glen will be with me until I die.

  • It's a shame that most people have never even hymns sung like that.

  • This is my favorite hymn I'm glad my church sings it like once a month, great truth!

  • i know....this is my fav song to sing and its the truth......i wish everyone knew about the matchless grace of Jesus!!!!!

  • awesom this song!

  • I am 38 years old and LOVE these guys! I enjoyed my 1st Cathedrals concert 20 years ago and have been hooked ever since! I always have a Cathedrals tape in the car, they really pick me up!

  • I am 28 years old and have been listening to the cathedrals since I was a young boy back in the days of danny as theyre tenor. I cannot express the joy i feel when i listen to these guys. listening to these guys always gives a real tug upon my heart and brings me closer to god, and brings me great memories of singing the car with my dad to our favorite songs like scars and stripes, undisputed champion of live. In my opinion these guys are second to none.

  • I agree with you hoover4000/Melissa! (well, mostly, Brian Free and Assurance is my personal favorite, but Cathedrals is getting right up there to me)!
