Best of keeping the original scenes and digitally restoring it, and henhancing the clips....including the new computerized ships, and other scenes such as the phaser and torpedo fights, and the like.
Making the picture look crisper was nice, but I don't think they should have messed with the original FX shots. Part of the charm of the show is seeing the special effects of that time.
I just saw Star Trek - what the hell is Red Matter? the Vulcan star ship looks and moves like an egg beater, Spock is dating Ahura, the Romulans have a giant drill to place black holes to destroy planets (couldn't they have beemed it?!)
Its a pretty good movie, action packed, moves at a good pace, clean movie, good special effects, very faithful to the spirit of Star Trek, audience was clapping and cheering to the classic Star Trek lines and references.
Saw the movie. The Romulans came back in time to go after Mr. Spock. Excellent Movie. Also, one of the Original cast members dies but comes back at the end.

TNG /ENT fans wouldn't watch a second of TOS if you gave them a trillion dollars, but they can never get enough of Wesley's adolescent angst and Porthos' poo. Perhaps it is just a generational disconnect?
Star Wars wouldn't be around if it were'nt for Star Trek. Star Wars IS a wannabe no matter how big you talk it up. And yes, there is a Hotel in Las Vegas dedicated totally to Star Trek NOT Star Wars. Star Trek was the first on the scene, NOT Star Wars. Captain Kirk Rules, Darth Vader Drools. So forget it, Wooki Wooki

Star Trek has a much larger following than that wanna be Star Wars.
-x-
Wanna' be? The six Star Wars movies are the third-highest grossing film series, third only to Harry Potter and James Bond. It's had more merchandise (serial boxes, books, games, action figures, etc.) than any Trekkie could ever hope for. I haven't heard of anyone having a Star Trek wedding, or adding two stories onto their house dedicated to Star Trek. Burger King, Kellogs, LEGO, and other companies have all created -c-

1. It's an odd numbered movie. (This has always been a big thing with Star Trek movies. The even numbered ones do good, and the odd numbered ones do bad.)
2. Many fans may not like the fact that someone new has come and messed with their show, even IF it's an improvement.
3. The Star Trek Stigma. (It's to the point that it's almost embarrassing to just tell someone that you like Star Trek. As soon as you say anything, people picture a bunch of nerds in costumes at a Star Trek convention.)

Overall, the remastering was successful. If only CBS could have given the crew some more time to get their act together before putting the episodes on the air and on DVD/HD-DVD. They really should have been allowed to go back and re-do the first dozen episodes that had the inferior digital model, as well as been given more than a week's time to remaster some of the more important episodes.

How in the hell can you recreate into high definition a white-painted hubcap from a 1976 Chevrolet suburban, A painted coke bottle and two painted tampons glued together into something that looks like a ship? OH SHIT that's right, it's digital. I would rather drown in gorilla shit than watch this asspuke again.
They should have just let it alone. I would say that the obsolete special effects engage the audience's imagination more. In this digital world, everybody needs everything handed to them; they need it spoon-fed to them. This is a Lucas-like attempt to generate more profits for something that is already available on the market. I have all three seasons of this fantastic show and I, for one, will not be buying this "digital upgrade."
I was hoping the new trailer for the new movie would be like this, except with younger actors who exhibited more essence and identity to the original crew than they do. (sigh)
For anyone who hasn't noticed this isn't the film. You'd have to be blind to think it was. It was for the digital remastered original series which ruined it. I mean WHY? Film looks good though but Kirk is a bit moody.
To bad the days with filming models are over. The Wrath Of Khan looks amazing in HD and it looks by far more real life than any of this cgi shit...ugh. talk about shitting on 40 years of history. What was I expecting anyway though.
What's the name of that theme they play in the background almost at the end of the video? I heard its from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If so what's the name of it?
Looks great! Can't wait. Ummmm and btw..check yourself. As your sitting on your glorious computer, remember that nerds help make the world go 'round..lol STAR TREK FOREVER.
Dumb. What was wrong with the orginal? Nothing. So don't fix what aint' broke. Its only gonna look stupid, all the new SFX wacked inbetween 60's film. Just leave it.
2. Ship models will look silly for today's standards when you watch them in HD.
It may have been filmed on HD medium. That doesn't make it suitable for HD viewing. It was recorded with intention to display only TV from 60s, not for HDTV from 2008! Was Star Trek displayed in cinema? No.
My parents were in are in there 50's and when this came up on the tv they were acting like they were 13 years old again my parents saw the original and my brother and myself were TNG fans so seeing the original digital reborn is just amazing.

I bet that wasnt rodenberry who done the music I would like to see who wrote and for who.
Star trek was playing in theaters then rodenberry got ahold of the kid who built the enterprise who was selling his adventures on it for fuel money to fly the enterprise and got swindle by the media.
I think that the last star trek show Enterprise had no chance of makeing it due to the Bon Jovie sounding song when it starts. The music set the mood of the shows and they killed it befor it got tarted. i did like the show just couldnt stand the ...Its been a long time get from here to there...MUTE...so thank you to all who took the time to remaster the star trek sound

Firewhiz911 3 years ago
It'll still be better than the asspuke JJ Abrams is putting out.

Where can you get this remade theme at?

I was hoping the new trailer for the new movie would be like this, except with younger actors who exhibited more essence and identity to the original crew than they do. (sigh)

if you like alien movies just watch the prophecy teaser trailer. you`ll find it when you type in prophecy teaser 2. movie starts 2010.
bollkg2008 3 years ago
For anyone who hasn't noticed this isn't the film. You'd have to be blind to think it was. It was for the digital remastered original series which ruined it. I mean WHY? Film looks good though but Kirk is a bit moody.

Of course I'm taking about the new Star Trek film coming out...
toast888 3 years ago
To bad the days with filming models are over. The Wrath Of Khan looks amazing in HD and it looks by far more real life than any of this cgi shit...ugh. talk about shitting on 40 years of history. What was I expecting anyway though.

Dumb. What was wrong with the orginal? Nothing. So don't fix what aint' broke. Its only gonna look stupid, all the new SFX wacked inbetween 60's film. Just leave it.
xeractus 3 years ago
I disagree. You can't put a 60s film on a HDTV. It looks sillier than fixing. Star Wars did it, why wouldn't Star Trek do it, too?
ivucica 3 years ago 2
The star trek was already fillmed on HD video
32 milimter film which is the same as hd is filmed on.
jarenscicot 3 years ago
Of course. But sixty years ago. Few things:
1. Film deteriorates.
2. Ship models will look silly for today's standards when you watch them in HD.
It may have been filmed on HD medium. That doesn't make it suitable for HD viewing. It was recorded with intention to display only TV from 60s, not for HDTV from 2008! Was Star Trek displayed in cinema? No.

The music set the mood of the shows and they killed it befor it got tarted. i did like the show just couldnt stand the ...Its been a long time get from here to there...MUTE...so thank you to all who took the time to remaster the star trek sound
matthewkaneinthemusi 3 years ago 2
The 'Enterprise' Them was sung by Ruseel Watson not Bon Jovi - You Muppet!
