  • I didn't think u could hand load 7.62x54r ammo.

  • what camera do you use?

  • really nice video... i know most ppl that are happy if there mosin can hit a target at 100 yards lol

  • @gandj19 the barrel on a 91/30 is 28 inches.

  • @motlencore89 no its 29

  • great video, im torn between a PU or a PE scope... which one should i get?

  • psh chuck norris can do that upside down while swimming and banging some hot chick

  • "got it! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA"

  • Just how long is that rifle? The barrel is practically halfway there already.

  • How much of an elevation adjustment in MOA would you have to make for 20ft of drop on a rifle zero'd for 100y?

  • reborn vassili zaitsev

  • 上手です!

  • My Mosin could probably do this if I had any marksmen skills. I'm just a grunt, after about 200 yards I can't hit anything. A scope would help since the iron sights are pretty bad.

  • You have skills big ups to you nice shooting keep up the good work

  • You are a madman. lol Nice shots with what i consider to be a junk scope for anything over 300 yards. That is some NICE shootin dude.

  • Ting! Love that sound.

  • Hello,

You say you're using reloads with a .308" bullet. I am wondering what your barrel slugs at?

    Thanks,

    Josh

  • I'm surprised you aren't using .311 size bullets...is the barrel slugging less than that?

  • Just ordered my mosin yesterday! They said it would take about 1-3 weeks to get it. It feels like I'v been waiting for weeks now! And watching this video sure doesn't help!

  • just bought one 2 days ago for $100. its still all greased up but cant wait to shoot it off. I had a 12 guage beretta for pheasant and needed a rifle for deer.

  • thats outstanding

  • was the mosin nagants used only for sniper rifles in ww2 .

  • @redneck350chevykkk no, but there were many that were made as sniper rifles

  • Excellent!!!

  • I have a mosin-nagant I had re-crowned, trigger-job, etc. It shoots tight with the m30-j round but do you think I can push it to 800 yards with the right optics? Right now it hovers at about 1 moa.

  • .308 bullets really? 7.62x54R is a .311 bullet I believe.

  • by far the best shoting videos in youtube

  • @ENoland8

Whoever said an M91/30 isn't accurate past 50 yards is dumber than a box of rocks. It's a got damn nail driver. I own one and love it.

  • Behold the 2nd best bolt action rifle in human history. over 100 year old design and can still hit a target like that after being built like some 60 years ago. Imagine how awesome it would be if it were upgraded with today tech? Now that's scary. Just sayn.

  • nice.

  • can i ask where do you live, because this looks like arizona to me and it would be nice to take my rifle out to a long distance place

  • Outstanding video!!!

    Just a quick question:

Did you have to grind or shim your mount?

If grind...how long and how much grinding did it take you?

    Thanks,

    2LT Robert Ramirez

  • @Army333 Thanks and yes, I dont recall how much I needed to grind but I did it al at the range and it took 2-3 hours. Thanks again, Ernest.

  • @mag30th

What range did you initially sight your scope for?

  • Any old gun can shoot awesome groups... Its all in the ammo :)

  • VERY nice shooting. i have to ask- why do you have the hand guard off, VS free floating the front end, and hand guard? did that not work well enough? i tightened up the groups on my 91/30 by sanding out the barrel channel so the hand guard and stock dont rub the barrel at all. my best group at 100 yards, with IRON sights is 0.850"- no scope. I also glass bed mine.

i also notice you use 200gr .308 bullets- have you slugged the barrel? mine likes the Hornady .312" bullets-

    again, good shooting !

  • Nice shooting, Very nice shooting !!!. Especially with that terrible wind. Isn't it a great feeling when you can resurrect those old warhorses, and show the world that they do shoot well. KUDOS !!!

  • Thanks for sharing. Would a steadier bench help?

  • My grandfather killed russians with similar rifle in WWII. Then in late 80`s smoking killed him.....

  • @SirRetku sorry for ur loss

  • I have a Mosin, is it worth it to drill it to put on a scope?

  • 8 people hate the fact that a $80 WWII rifle can accurately shoot as far as their $1000 rifles...well in the hands of a person that knows what they are doing. Great shooting!!!

  • Nice video....Great range.

  • Man who was shotting have lucky or amazungly skills. ;D

  • can i put a pu scope on a m44

  • Im getting a mosin nagant before wednesday and people said it was inaccurate after 50 yards now i have proof of how good it really is. thank you

  • @ENoland8 No no no... They are crazy. If you are a good enough shooter, you can hit anything with them at any range. That particular weapon was the popular choice of WWII Russian snipers.

  • @ENoland8 dont believe anyone who said the gun is innacurate it was the russians main arm during world war 2 and mass produced over 17 million of them. it is a sniper rifle accurate up to 600 yards with field sights and alot farther with a scope and a good shooter behind it. ive shot it plenty of times and it is impossible to miss from 100 yards with it. though some of the guns were adjusted to shoot with a bayonet so you may have to adjust the sights on it for it to shoot accurately

  • @rspaint94 i told them that and yet they think its bad but i got one this morning for my ww2 collection and im overjoyed i had to show them this video before they beleived me and they said theyd think about it and this video got me my mosin nagant 1942 7.62/54 91/30

  • this sound 'tiin' its so nice :DD

  • Nice shooting man..My girl just got me a 91 30 for christmas and i can't wait to get some practice in

  • how accurate is this scope

  • What kind of scope are you using on your nagant and where can I get one?

I have the mount and bolt on order and can't find a three prong scope anywhere

  • @Roflskull Ernest hasn't answered so I'll jump in. We're both Mosin fans, but he has forgotten more about them than I'll ever know..

Scope is a Russian PU, fixed 3.5x power. Originals cost big bucks, but pretty darn good replicas can be had for around $200-300, same dimensions and equivalent performance. New ones have the advantage of always-centered reticle. On originals the reticle moved up, down, left, right as you adjust windage and elevation. Try Kalinka Optics and eBay

  • @Roflskull What palehorseone said. i just bought a damn good replica for my 91/30 and its beautiful. works like a charm. just look up PU scopes. ebay has quite a few too.

  • You have a neat way of setting up your videos! Google earth, 1/2 speed, even recording through the optics!

  • @mag30th

What magnification is the P/U scope? I own a standard M91/30 1942 battlefield pickup rifle. I modified it a little bit and love it.

  • how did you get the wood guard to stay on without the rings at 3:18?

  • @MrROTTENJUGGALO i think he doesnt even have the top wood piece on. it might be because he doesnt want anything touching the barrel for better accuracy. just a thought though

  • @wasrdude i made kindof a dumb comment i was talking about the boddom part of the wood i had ti look at mine and relize it was attached to the rest of the stock. but yah it may give you better accuracy kind of a free float job

  • 200 grain? Wow, heavy 7.62 projectile. That helps a lot in such a strong wind.

  • nice shots! i wonder if it would be possible to hit that target with the original ammo they used back then. what do you think, would it be possible? and i'm amazed by the good craftsmanship they had 60 years ago.

  • Thanks for these videos and good shooting!!

  • Does this rifle have a lot of recoil?

  • @Thestarwarsmovies Its not loads and its not little, the Carbines tend to have a sharper nudge to them than the 91/30

  • did you buy it as a sniper or did you modify a normal mosin nagant?

  • im ned this weapon its so cool

  • Damn 15-20 mph winds and you're still hitting target with relative ease. That was a hell of a shooting job there.

  • wow that is impressive.

  • which is more accurate at 1000yds the mosin or the k98?

  • In one of my favorite books the main character was shot in the hip from 1,000+ meters by the best Soviet sniper in history in Vietnam.

  • Where did you find the scope/mounting hardware?

  • I just love to see the bullet in flight, the sound progression, and how late it is. You've hit the target and just after you've heard the sound. Too cool man, too cool.

  • @emel60 Thanks, check out the 1000 yard clip with my 300 win mag, the sounds come in much clearer on that video.

  • @mag30th 1000 yards? Wait, that's 914.4 m. My God, I neber thought you might acctually hit it that far. But you do have old optics. I wonder if you can go maximum ironsight range of 2000m on K98. What's the biggest on Mosin?

  • @emel60 Thanks, I have a 1000 yard clip here also of the K98, Thanks again!

  • @emel60 what kind of energy does the bullet have after going that far? still enough to knock you into the next county like the round usually has <400m?

  • @franklawl I wouldn't say that much. If it drops from super to subsonic then I guess it less than when fired. But I doubt I is not lethal, aux contrare. Still lethal I'd say.

  • @emel60 the 2000m iron sight was for volley shots in large formations basically lobbing them over into the opposing trenches... my mosin has a 2000m sight

  • @dude444666444 Thanks, now I see, basically useless ^^ At 2k I even doubt you can see a human,

  • @mag30th

Would u please tell me how do on which bases do u choose ur ammo?

Apparently this round isn't the best available for this mosin nagant.

    any advises about ammo?

  • i am gettn a mosin but i want the sniper with original scope ..how much will it cost? i hear gun shows are best to buy from. but at shows they cost 100-200. online there like 900$ am i missing somethin here? why such a diff price range?

  • where are you shootin?

  • I love this video. I hit a brake disc at about 200 yards with my Mosin with open sights. Yes it was on the ninth shot but still... none were very far off. Yeah you can shoot a mile and a half with a 50cal or 416 but you can't buy one for $89

  • Very Nice.

  • You bastard you own a M1-D Garand!????? I HATE YOU!!!!

  • Sorry one more question- What kind of accuracy were you getting when using other ammo? (Surplus/commercial?) Thanks!

  • I love your videos- excellent shooting!

I just started shooting steel targets, a question if you would- How do have that steel fixed to that board? I've got a 45 pound 14"x1" plate that I just rest up against a boulder or something of the like- It seems that the way you have it set up gongs a whole lot louder than my plate. So you angle the steel so it doesn't get so beat up? If you'd watch my video, my 7.62x54r chews a good 1/4 inch into the steel (or is it that I'm using steel core?) Thanks!

  • Great rifle,WWII bolt rifle's are the best IMO they look awesome and shoot awesome

  • how the #$#$ did u do that

  • Simo Hayha would be proud.

  • The U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps spend millions developing snipers "systems"...rifles, ammunition, scopes, etc. With a hundred dollar bill at Big Five sporting goods stores they can get equipment the equal of anything purchased at taxpayer's expense. The "Nagant" is sometimes on sale at $79.95.

  • I'm VERY happy to have just picked up a 91/30 today.

  • @guncrazy143 not the same model completely different bolt set up

  • where do you get the bent sniper bolt with out drilling through the stock to make it fit.PLZ HELP ME! i bought a mosin bent bolt but you need to drill a notch for it to fit. my mosin is a 1942 m44 with a bayonet. I DONT WANT TOO DRILL THROUGH THE STOCK. i cant stress that enough. I DONT CARE IF THE BOLT IS A REPO. IF YOU SEE A PU SCOPE OR A BENT BOLT FOR THE MOSIN PLZ EMAIL ME AT trevor123pie@yahoo.com THK YOU

  • @trevor123pie you just buy one of the sniper models. makes life a lot easier. don't mess up a perfectly good mosin, sell it to someone who will take care of it and use the money (plus some extra) to get a real one.

  • the ak74's are a personal favorite of mine,[as opposed to my other favorite, the ak47,] the 5.54x39mm cartrige is just as accurate as the 5.56 but has more penatration, and at longer ranges, the 5.54 has more of a cruch factor, leading to greater stopping power, if you put the 5.54 round in a rifle with a barrel as long as the m16, this is my favorite short-to-medium range cartrige, althoe the ak47's 7.62mm ammo is much better at penetrating hard targets.

  • The ammos of 7.62x54R is hard to find ? Not like where you can buy .308 in most store but 7.62x54 R ?

  • @BlackSpade72 7.62x54R ammo is very common and very cheap (money wise). I got a box of 440 rounds for $50 and ammo around where I live isn't exactly cheap with an exception of the 7.62.

  • @Stefano5441 you got a spam can i assume since its 440 rds but that stuff isn't the highest grade its intended for general infantry not for sharpshooting

  • @komuch Well the thing is is that the stuff I got was actually the higher grade stuff, not the general infantry ammo but then again Im certain it varies in price.

  • What modifications have you made to the Mosin?

  • osome dude millerusaf sent me here !

  • DUde I am impressed! nice shooting! and good video! thanks

  • even if its over 100 years old gun its shoot great

  • Very impressive shooting, especially in those conditions using old technology!

  • Where did you manage to get one of the old Russian scopes?

  • I know someo people arent going to like this but given all the extra care Mag has put into this rifle further cements my opinion that vasili zaitzev's accomplishments were more myth than anything, he simply got credit for other's enemy kills.

  • you could have killed vasili zaitzev with that

  • Those old world war 2 guns are soooo bad ass

  • I never knew this kind of accuracy could be achieved with these old Mosins. Very impressive

  • I would love to see videos of you performing the modifications to this mosin nagant, great work on all 3 variations Rifle Ammo and Operator getting that accurate with a design that is older then my grandpa, I have a 1948 Russian M44 I shot a few rounds with but nothing over 30 yards need some time at range to adjust the sights ect, love to get a 91/30 best condition i can get, and do some work on it to get tight groups, but most novice shooters liek myself the rifle out performs the operator

  • Excellent work. Amazing you can get that kind of accuracy out of a rifle that old. Keep up the good work.

  • The laugh after the first shot sounds evil. lol! Great shooting!

  • Nice, i wish I had a place like that..

    Really good shooting..

  • That is epic man, just seeing it hit and hearing the plink a second later is fantastic, i want to see someone try this with iron sights.

  • wow awesome shooting. is this mosin riffle original?

  • awsome shots

  • Was that a cold bore hit from a 70 year old rifle at 850 yards? Sweeeeeeet!

  • Will never understand why people criticize a weapon for not doing what it was never intended to do in the first place. The Ak was never meant to be a long range weaopon it was designed for close combat.

  • My local gun shop has a scoped nagant for $500 and I want it SO bad. Is this a reasonable price?

  • @hanzo138 depends on the year and manuf. of the rifle, depends if its an original ex sniper rifle or a regular 91/30 tapped for scope mount and bent bolt. For example, my $100 Ishevsk 1926 hex receiver m91/30, +$200-$300 for scope kit and bent bolt, +$X in labor where X = Unknown lol, so yeah $500 could be fair. Or if you can tap your receiver for mounting, and tap bolt to replace bolt handle yourself, you could save about $100 off of that rifle if you shop smart.

  • I love the delay between when the bullet leaves the gun and when it hits and from when we see the target get hit to when we hear the hit!

  • Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!

  • May i ask were you got the scope and mount. i want to get one like that for mine. thanks

  • you are a beast man!!

good loading and good shooting :D

  • 1200 foot pounds is plenty for hunting deer though, if you could make the shot, it's possible

  • Zaitsev hit a guys head half a mile away with that rifle

  • I bet you don't have reliability issues like the fancy American "Match" rifles in the desert!

  • its an M16/M4 which is the gun the military uses

  • Wow!! Nice work on the math and trigger!! That's nice shooting for a cross wind like that! Two thumbs up!!

  • i wish i can fire a bolt-action sniper rifle

  • A very flat shooting 7.62MM with that particular load, by my reckoning AND you managed to score a hit on the first shot at 850. Not bad at all. I personally think you could push it a fair bit further.

Take notes, folks. All it took to get that kind of accuracy from a 60+-year-old rifle is a carefully selected MATCH bullet and some tedious and tricky load development. I noticed a big difference between period ammo and some carefully tuned hand-loads using today's slender pills with my Sprinfield

  • Thanks, Ive since worked it out to 1000 yards, ive posted that video as well. Thanks again, Ernest.

  • nice shooting... so thats what a black & decker work mate's for..a Mosin-Nagant stand..lol it would be a bit cumbersome on the battlefield..

  • Charge that target with ya bayonet hehe. but remeber dont run. walk slowly with sharp objects. no neeed for a injurie lol.

  • who cares about he AK......AR16=best assault rifle

  • what the hell is an AR16?

  • @jugheadkilla the m16 , m16a1 , m16a2 & the m4 are mechanical nightmares , i spent 15 years in the army and i'm a veteran of iraq . i can hit anything with them but you cant trust your life with them . if you rapid fire for an extended amount of time they will jam like hell . as far as the ak go's i can hit anything with that too , the range is a little shorter but dont belive the bull , poke your head out at with the wrong guy behind it and it will be your last !

  • we should adopt the israeli galil, best of both worlds if it was modified to take stanag mags.

  • @whitespear1488

ak is only good up to 75 yards, cut that in half for full auto. which is still great for the house to house we experienced in iraq/afghanistan.

but the m16 and its variants having mechanical problems is bull. when the rifle first came out in nam i refused to carry one and instead had a m14. but since then improvements to its design have pretty much eliminated all mechanical errors. keep your m16 clean and you will never have a jam.

  • @whitespear1488 um yea man, any 15 yr army vet should know maintenance is key. Priorities of work, weapons maintenance comes before anything, food, sleep, anything... of course your shits gonna jam if you don't treat it right. I did my time in iraq and the ghan and have never had my m4 fail me when the shit hit the fan... i trust them with my life due to the simple fact that im still breathing and the other guys aint... RLTW

  • how do you make a gun more accurate?

  • I bought one of those to hunt with.

  • Man, you are so fucking cool. You gotta make a good sniper.

  • hard to beleive with that kind of accuracy this was the same country that made the ak

  • wow... nice shot. original p/u or a conversion? i like the free float upper hand gaurd removed that makes it look good..

  • you have a riflr thins one but a finnish one ??

  • Niiiice fucking shots. I have this same weapon.

  • same here

  • I don't see were you could not overcome the elevation issues for 1000 yards with that round, but you sound like windage would constantly be an issue there wjen it came to making a string of hits. You look like you are very skilled at firing the rifle and creating the load. The freinds of Billy Dixon are smiling and wishing you well.

  • You must very good at wind doping. Those were very good shots at that range with that kind of wind.

  • wow, great shooting man, i loved watching through the PU scope. 5/5

  • Mosin-Nagant better, than M40A2 :-D

  • hell of a shoot man! 5 stars

  • Great shooting love the gun, but y'd u take the front sight off?

  • Thanks! Ive removed the front and reat sights to float the barrel as much as possible.

    Thanks again!

    E.

  • OK, I knew why you did the rest just wanderin on the sights, but now i get it. I'm workin on gettin an all matchin 1943 one

  • dude great shot did u did anything to the internals??? just asking but great shooting bro

  • amazing it takes a expert marksmen to make 1000 yard shots i watch the 1k yard one first

  • This is a VERY well done video man! 5 stars! The only other thing I'd do is put one of those muffle socks on your microphone so you dont hear so much wind noise. I hope I can shoot as well as you can someday! Stay safe man!!!

  • how much did you either buy it for or what was the final cost for putting the scope on cuz imlooking at buying one with a modern PU scope and its a 1938 model for 429.99 is that a good price?

  • Damn fine shooting man. I love these old rifles. Nice videos...keep up the good work!

  • can you shoot both centerfire and rimfire out of the mosin??

  • If you knew anything about mosins, you wouldn't ask such a retarded question.....

  • just centerfire -- the cartridge has a rim on it but the firing pin hits the cartridge in the center versus on the rim like a 22 rifle. The answer is not obvious until you actually see one -- ignore the inbreds who insult people asking questions

  • I agree there's nothing wrong with asking questions especially when it comes to firearms. Its the ppl who think they know everything that usually either cause trouble or wind up hurting themselves or someone else. I'd have to say if your getting into guns though, the Mosin- Nagant rifle line should be seriously considered for your collection! They are such a high quality rifle that sells for bargan basement prices! And now you can customise them with tons of aftermarket stocks and scopes too!

  • Hey there, I was a little curious of how you made that thing so accurate. Did you float the barrel or use shims? I just floated my barrel in hopes of tightening the groups up and was curious if that is what you did to yours.

  • how does floating and using shims make it more accurate?

  • It has to do with the barrel harmonics. It basically needs to vibrate the same way every time, so the bullets goes to the same place. Floating the barrel means no part of the gun is touching the barrel other than where it is screwed onto the gun. It lets the barrel vibrate the same way without any variables, making the bullet go to just about the same place every time. It's an industry standard now for higher caliber rifles.

  • oo thanks so much thats what i need to do....

  • what kind of wind drift did you get?

    damn good shooting for sure.

  • HOLY GUACAMOLEY JUSES CHRIST. im not even that good and i get a shoot throguht the elks head running

i give you props become a sniper for military
