  • Confused Crono's laugh looks like that of Kefka to a disturbing extent.

  • My superstition, when I say something true I always succeed at catching pokemon.

  • I have a weird superstition. If there's something that requires luck, tensing up my body helps win favor with the game.

  • "WELL, HOW ABOUT I GIVE YOU A BIG HAND?!" ..i wonder if he'll moniter himself with the middle finger up.. "TO DIE!" ..oh.

  • My video gaming superstition is First: always double save Second: When it comes 2 healing items buy more then you need.

  • I have a superstition that if I don't play video games at least eight hours a day females will invade my trousers.

  • i didn't believe it; but someone i know pretended to be sick to help catch pokemon

  • Regarding the wind noises in Chrono Trigger, the DS version has horrid wind SFX.

And I thought the DS had more processing power than the SNES

  • Lol magic pile shuffle the sane way every game, and I have to have my deck facing the same way every-time and my graveyard dad to me stacked right and my lands have to be stacked. I probably go on for days on my superstitions for that game

  • best cliffhanger ever. Does he watch beast wars?

  • You could also just leave the screen and the rubble would be back. I grinded for all my techs here, not because I thought the game was hard, but because I just really wanted LUMINAIRE and FLARE and all those delicious goodies.

  • "will i ever get a turn again" lmao i think we can all agree that chaos is REALLY annoying >.<

  • Is it just me or does the wind sound on this mountain sound JUST like the wind sound in Narshe in Final Fantasy 6?

  • @stonewallkotdm Both games are made by the same company, and the SNES, as awesome as it is, has a very basic sound system compared to what we have today. The sound is all 16-bit, so many sounds are going to be reused.

  • @stonewallkotdm It is the same sound as the FF6 Narshe wind, isn't it?!

  • my superstition was mostly in zelda games where i named link Link and then Zelda and then a random name like "I suck" or something so everyone says HEY I SUCK CAN YOU HELP ME?! yea ... fun times

  • I'd been using save-states, up till now, when you recommended the soft reset trick. One really cool thing I noticed: the time from boot till gameplay is like 5 seconds. That's awesome.

  • if u press the a button to the music to help you kill them, isnt that a lot like mother/earthbound?

  • Big hand helps robo masturbate.

  • Two up two down left right left right BA start = Beat Contra

Just kidding, I repeatedly hit the A button before the race starts in Mario Kart DS to get a boost. Don't know if that's just me or something everyone knows, I don't get out much so I don't really know. My cousing spread this secret to me back when I sucked at MK DS.

  • confuse i rather weak......Cyan can strike chrono with his eyes closed and laugh at the same time XXD

  • yes in zelda games always have four bottles with fairies or..........................you are screwed

  • when i used to play the yu-gi-oh card game, i would ALWAYS shuffle my deck 21 times, if i do that i almost always win. if i don't do it i will lose

  • my superstition is too never get to crtical health in any game cuz then u start worrying or get distracted then die

  • In all turn-based RPGs that I played when I was younger, I would tap the attack button as fast as possible because I always thought that it would increase my critical attack rate.

  • Every time you say die I can't help but to think of Zelda CDI. "YOU WILL DIE!"

  • i use to play yu-gi-oh but now i switching over to become a pro poker player.

  • I always name a character after myself and gave him all the best gear and stat boosting stuff. Just to make sure i was always the "strongest".

  • I used to think holding the shoulder buttons when attacking in RPGs would increase my critical strike chance.

  • when i play yugioh i always tap my deck b4 i draw

  • Game superstitions? Yeah I got one...never name any female characters after any present girlfriends/fiances....let's just say Yuffie's new name and my Ex's are very similar......

  • Can somone tell me where he got the pearl edge?? i dunno where the hell he got it

  • he announced it in the video...

  • A superstition huh? Never naming a character after yourself maybe.

  • 3:50

i kind of come up with various superstitions when i play new games, but as i go along i test things out and when it turns out it's wrong, i don't believe in that anymore, it's healthy :)

  • In this translation, is confuse the same thing as what they call "frenzy" in later versions of the game like the DS. Ive played all 3 released versions of this game, snes, bonus with ff4 on ps1, and the DS and I can't seem to remember.

  • I've played many games in which if you land a critical hit, your opponent wont dodge or evade it, is it the same for the ruble thing?

  • At least when I played, a critical hit against the rubble is a hit. Gettinh high critical chance for your guys is a good way to kill the rubble fast.

  • I had a superstition in Psychonauts, that if you had all the figments and stuff, if you fought the final boss with all of them, he would transform into a new boss named the Master of All Minds.

  • Well, pressing the button to the music will certainly work in Mother 3...

I used to have a ton of superstitions about random events in games. I'm over them nowadays though, and thankfully so, or all the rare drop grinding I'm so fond of would drive me CRAZY.

The key is patience. Be persistent and fight the battles for their own sake without expecting a Pink Tail/Sword of Kings/Onion equip/whatever. If you ever feel that one is "due", you're wrong. Just keep trying and quit whining. :)

  • Pressing up + B on Pokemon while throwing Pokeballs count as a superstition?

It worked when I used it, but I don't know. But catching ALL legendary Pokemon with regular Pokeballs is pretty epic, even though it's nothing special.

  • does chrono have a level 3 lightning spell

  • yes it's call Luminiare or something like that

  • learn to spell

  • w00t Magic. I love you now HCBailly.

  • I had a superstition where if you put the commands in, in time with the music, in Pokemon Leaf Green, you would get extra money. Then, I realized my Blastoise had an Amulet Coin equipped. =P

  • superstitions: the tails chao looks exactly like the tailsdoll. Also, in LoZ Majora's Mask, the band director of the zoras is playing the end music in super mario land, where mario meets daisy.

  • Superstitions about videogames....

    TAILSDOLL FROM SONIC R!

IT WILL KILL YOU IN YOUR SLEEP!!!

Haa, but that's just a superstision.

  • Whenever I do an attack, or am about to get hit by an enemy attack(Magical or physical) in any game, I always hit an attack button. Try to make it be a critical, or get less damage from a hit or whatnot. Hey, it actually works in Mario RPG! :)

  • you play magic: the gathering?? :D

  • so i sense a mother 3 refernce?

  • Yeah, I had Luminaire a few videos ago. All that power leveling I did.

  • On Jak ll (Kinda old now..), on one of the bosses (guy in a robot) I shoot him whenever he attacks, seems to weaken the attack

  • ive got this on ds and i just attempted the boss and got owned wat level was Hcbailey at this point???

  • he was level 31 =p

  • Thx but now im level 46 and im stuck on the boss(s) Golem sisters so im hoping his video ighting them will help me but thx again :)

  • Very superstitious...writing on the wall...

  • In Final Fantasy Games, I always bring at least 1 physical attacker (like a Knight or Monk), 1 White Mage (whose always healing the party), 1 Summoner or Black Mage (magic attackers), and 1 person who I call a supporter (Like a Red Mage, Blue Mage, or Mime). I mostly attack with my team (to conserve magic mostly) and I feel it best to have lots of options for attacking enemies or bosses, even though I don't use all spells or attacks.

  • On Harvest Moon MM, when fishing, I hold down the X (use tool) button, to make it go farther, but Mom says it doesn't work (My mom LOVES playing Harvest Moon, weird, right?)

  • how'd you skip those battles?

  • he didnt skip them

  • B button helps Pokéball capture.

    That's a superstition I use.

  • Aww, you beat me to it, though I always do Down + B, no matter how futile it may actually be.

  • I thought it was Down + A :D

  • @BladeSatoshiX too bad it doesn't work

  • @BladeSatoshiX 2 years later you get a response... i used the down button

  • I remeber when I was done with a long Pokemon session (one of the gameboy ones). I had spent over 3 hrs grinding my team's levels up, and when I went to save it, I accidentaly loaded instead, and lost ALL my data.

Ever since, I have been convinced that the game will trick me, so I keep my eye on the icon to make sure it still says SAVE instead of LOAD.

  • my superstition comes from final fantasy 1. i always have to continuously hit the A button when im fighting a battle

  • The Hit Ring should help with acc issues against the rubble. Not guarenteed but definately helps.

  • HOLY SMOKES!!

I remember back when the wind sound effects were messed up! Same thing with the wind in FF 6. I remember it made some other sound effects weird too, like the sound for Ice 2. I kinda miss it now...

  • @SuperBalrogBros

I used to really like that FF6 wind sound, it sounded as some weird acid / confused trip music, and since Terra was controlled by the Crown, it made the beggining even more interesting :)

  • @Guitarherokinda:

Heard of the fact that Youtube screws up replies pretty often? He put the @ so MOST people know who he was replying to.

  • Yeah I know it screws up..

  • In pokemon diamond I always draw out the attack I use as fast as I can on the bottom screen to get a critical hit.

  • im superstisious about the fact when you look away in a chance thing in the game, it works better

  • I always thought in Pokemon Sapphire if you rotate the D-Pad when the Ball hits the Pokemon itll catch it way easier.

And then I got superstitious thatrapidly pressing L + R would help catch them

  • if a have to mash buttons to attack or dodge even if i got all the way i would still mash the button it seems that i dodge or attack better

    O.o

  • On my DS I find that if you touch your enemey your useing the skill on with your stylus its actually does more damage ._.

  • I *lol*d at the "If you don't kill it quick enough, you DIE" part ^^

  • Recent thing I found out equipping the beserker is great against the rubble, it increases you're attack power and your hit rating and auto attacks (can't use techs or items anyway) thereby increasing the number of chances to hit the rubble that you'll get.

  • In Pokemon I would always wiggle the D-pad in time with the pokeball

  • I'd push down on the A+B buttons as hard as I could. Yes I did hurt myself doing this.

  • furroukoun.... PUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOONNNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FALCON PUUUNCH!

  • Bandana on Frog? Bad-Ass Bandana's are Human-only. ;)

  • OMG i used to do that all the time hc.

    yeah click, click click.

and when i used to play console rpgs, i would try to press x at the same time as i got hit, so i wouldn't get hit, and i'd press it a milisecond before, to help with criticals ^^

  • I love this game

  • I think everyone shares the "Hold B and down" when catching a Pokemon superstition.

  • Well, strangely enough, the first time my brother and I ever beat Mario brothers 3, we were listening to Catch 22, so it has become a tradition to listen to it while beating the last level.

  • Rolling the mouse in a circle while playing MMORPGs.

  • oh yes, and jumping on your mount (pick your poison here ^^) as many times can. supposed to speed you up, it just makes you look good in most of the ones that i've played lol

  • I meant like Runescape and AdventureQuest.

  • Wow, Charm is useful here. Items from that and the powered up chests you got earlier will mean the upcoming boss will be much easier than when I fought him (and almost had to give up in frustration).

Yes, the music is Full of WIN!

  • I've never used that trick, because in all honesty, you don't need it to beat the game. It's easy enough to max out your Techs in one or two playthroughs.

  • hitting A as much as possable when you throw a pokeball.

  • I can't help but think of Final Fantasy Six in this area. The map idea and the wind remind me SO much of it.

In fact I daresay the wind is identical.

  • They did use alot of sound effects from FFVI, so I'm not entirely surprised.

  • MTG is the best trading card game out there

if anybody knows a better card game, tell me

  • I have the generic Pokémon superstition.. If you cannot catch the Pokémon you want on the first three goes.. A + D-Up + Select = Insta catch.

And it always seemed to work for me.

    I'm pathetic, I know.

  • i have one superstition when im playing warhammer, that if i dont use the biggest dice that i have then ill miss completely with my most powerful guns

  • I am like that only with certain colours of dice.

  • I am prone to rolling low, making Alternity the only tabletop game I have ever "excelled" in.

  • Lucca and Marle getting more attention eh?

Makes sense really, the Ocean Palace seems to heavily imply that it wants you to use a Crono, Lucca, Marle party with groups of enemies that require you to use all three of their elements in most battles. What happens after (I shan't say, natch) just seems to be written especially for their presence.

  • the only odd thing I have about (any) game, is my items have to be divisible by 5. I can't allow myself to have, say, 12 healing potions. It must be corrected to either 10 or 15 asap.

  • Same here - I almost have to have multiples of 10 unless I have 99. Even when I barely use the darn things, I have to have ten of them taking up a little room in my inventory... it's a good thing I don't play as many limited-item-inventory games... FFIV Advance and DS both increased the inventory to something where I didn't need Fat Chocobo to store items (well, he can't on the DS, anyway).

  • @japplegren Wow! Same here! Except, though, in Chrono Trigger, I restrain myself by not looking at my items. Plus, in Chrono Trigger, there are SO many items, I can't organize them like that. In other games, though, I do have to organize my items.

  • @japplegren i just buy lets say 99 healing potions so i dont have to think about having a # of items thats not divisable by 5

  • I always try hit the X button just as I land a blow, hoping for a critical hit.

  • Hmm...my game superstition is that every time you enter a random battle in Final Fantasy, it was preordained. (i.e., it was meant to be in that exact location) And if you save, the Gaming Gods know that you saved and move the random battle elsewhere so you don't catch on to their scheme. ;D

And I've watched Beast Wars!~ My favorite character was Dinobot. He was awesome. =B

    But I digress...

great video HC! I always look forward to it every morning.

  • I have one supersitition when it comes to playing MMORPG's and rare drops; you only get the item when you're NOT looking for it.

  • That's a cruel Murphy's Rule (I think). You want it, you'll never find it, You don't want it, you'll always find it.

  • Not really a superstition but more of a habit. Because of all the RPGs I've played I have a habit of checking every door possible and then checking every room possible for treasure.

I noticed that I do this in real life as well whenever I go around the house looking for spare change.

  • Just as a note for anyone new at the game, if they read this - you may want to master Luminaire for the upcoming fight, which can be REALLY difficult for newcomers.

  • I always thought it was pretty easy... Spire and Confuse worked well for me. I think Marle had haste by this point, too.

  • my superstition is the main character never dies it never happens and if it does is because you got a game over

  • It happens under 3 conditions:

-The story continues in the afterlife

    -The story will end soon

-The character will be revived later in the story

I am just guessing here (the computer does not have an apostrophe on the keyboard for some god forsaken reason).

  • the only time a character can get revived is with the use of a phoenix down

  • Or some special ritual.

What phoenix downs? This is Chrono Trigger, not Final Fantasy.

  • And the characters never use Phoenix Downs in the actual storyline, anyway.

  • Except in the comic scene in Final Fantasy Tactics when Mustadio gets owned by Worker 8 and Ramza frantically looks for a Phoenix Down. I guess he never actually uses it, though.

  • Wait, I think there was one scene in FF5A where Galuf was gniyd and Faris started using smeti on him to try and eviver him.

  • Not sure if it counts, but when I play any Final Fantasy, I always make sure to have full HP and MP before entering a town or dungeon.

  • i made it to lavos *the final form of lovas not i beat the game lavos*

  • I got luminaire before rescue the guru of life, it makes sooooo easy the NEXT battle...

  • I was laughing at the phrase "kill the rocks"!! lol.

  • What's ahead besides the Guru? Well, I guess I need to find out next time!

  • i've got a superstition for whenever i golf.

i have to keep at least three coins in one of my pockets. when i get stressed out with bad shots or missing a putt, i just jingle the coins. it's weird, but it workds for me.

  • I always press buttons on RPGS in time to music, its a habbit, but as for game superstitions I never run really run left on a game for the first time, I run right easily, but an area where you need to go left usually has a stupid trap in it

  • In Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, when I would heal up at the church, I would always kneel for a second before I left. Not in real life, I mean, make Simon kneel by pressing down on the control pad. I don't know if that's really superstitious or not.

  • ZOMG! HCBailly plays MTG? That's awesome.

  • Thanks. I played (past tense) for about 10 years. YouTube is far more fun for me.

  • I manage to juggle them well enough. Mind, I'm more of an avid viewer than anything. Mostly because I have nothing worth making videos of.

  • I spend about as much time playing MTG on the weekends as I do watching Youtube videos during the week... haha. They're both fun for me. I never go rush out to buy the new sets like Shards of Alara, though.

  • i remember spending so much time training here in past run-throughs of the game. it was so much fun to train here. can't wait for the next boss fight. keep it up HC

  • I always get luminaire before the boss fight on mount woe, it makes it SOOOOO easy

  • I was lucky to have Lit2 by then, due o avoiding too many battles, heh.

  • Let's see, I've never really been a very superstitious person, but there is one the thing I've always done in RPG's that may or may not be considered superstitious. If there's a fork in the road, I ALWAYS go left. I don't know if it has to do with what side of the brain you think with or what, but yea... maybe Magic the Gathering has made me a bit superstitious as well.

  • HC you sure do have an obsession with death

  • Beast wars! watch it It's that good!

  • I think Safe Helm protects agenist status alliments. But of corse, you're not using it on your main party, :D

All the more reason to ignore everyone but Chrono, Robo, Alya, and Lucca. Oh, and the other character you'll get soon.

  • You should do Super Mario RPG. There's so much goofiness you shouldn't have any trouble thinking of things to say.

  • I always hold left on the d-pad when catching pokémon. Always.

  • I have a feeling that you have watched Beast Wars.

  • I was hoping for a Tales Spin cartoon reference. :(

  • yeah a clip or something!

  • I'm near the end of the game now (not gonna spoil anything), but I wish I had waited until I watched this video and the last one. I've been neglecting everyone except Crono, Frog, and Robo. ^^;;

  • I played Baseball for 12 years. I'm superstitious about EVERYTHING.

  • Those Rubbles sure are the best for Tech grinding, not o mention Exp too. Actually, if I remember correctly, one of those Rubbles respawn by exiting and reentering the area. Can't remember which one, but that method is faster than reseting and reloading the game.

  • Maybe the one in the beginnning?

  • No, only if you get out of the mountain and reenter, but it is not that one, not even the last one, but it must be the second to last, like I said bfore, I don't know which one, but I'm sure there is one.

  • Wait, I know now, the Rubble that respawns is the one Bailly talked about doing the reset and reload method, the one after the first save point.

  • At 7:14, I totally saw an oppritunity for a World of Dentists reference... heheheh.

And wow, I never knew about the rubble respawn. I learn new things every day about this game when I watch your let's play.

  • lol loved it and the ending kicks ass

have i ever watched Beast Wars? i lold 5/5

  • Its not the Game its the Music...or was it the otherwayaround....dunno

  • Is it real, or is it Memorex?

  • Well...

Have you ever watched Beast Wars?

  • Find out next time :P

  • I had one with Breath of Fire 4, I find fishing easier if I reel with the music.
