I think this song is about someone who has a negative outlook on life, maybe because of society. And she copes with it by being pessimistic and depressed, hence the line "mascara running down your face". Brandon is asking her to smile and that every day is a new day ("the camera lens is opening"). He wants to capture her smiling, to possibly give him hope and strength for the future, "Give me sustenance...love not suicide and the wiser and wider part of me will show". Just my two cents.

@11stealthninjas Definitely killer on the hands. Plus, alot of effects that Mike uses on the album (delay in this case) sound messed up at a lot of concert halls...so they don't do it for two reasons. (For the record, the BASS is freaking wayyy harder to play. Props to all these guys)
