  • Perfect! Awesome!

  • Here it is from the Phillips era band.....

  • 1, 2, 3, AND

  • chuk flores the best

  • Sal at 2:04

  • Chuck Flores is still alive (I believe)and should be here in LA......he played on my daughter's first recording!

  • Go Band ! Found most of the tracks by this band on the Mosaic Records reissues. Were originally on Woody Herman 1963, '63 Encore, and Woody Herman 1964, released on Philips.

  • Just a great, swingin' band! The rhythm section controls the fire under the soloist without being obtrusive and just driving it so hard. Outstanding!!!

  • RIP Jake...

  • Go Woody!! You were awesome! Always pushing, he never stopped and could swing even late in his career. Saw him on his last tour, felt so sad to se him bent and kinda broken looking. And then he gave the downbeat and started blowing-dmaned if he didn't drop 15 years abd cane to life with fire!! What a concert his band gave, he was quite a catalyst for his men. Thank you Woody!!

  • Loved Jake Hanna and Art Mardigan with Woody. He also had another great drummer called Chuck Flores for a while in the early '50's on numbers like Billy May's arrangement of "Hat Trick". Anyone know what happened to him?

You're right guys Woody's best herd!

  • Beyond AWESOME!!!

  • ultimate Bigband Power,with the ol`Woodchopper!!!!

  • Jake was one of the best in this band...

  • Have to agree ,w/ all the non drummin stuff today ,The jazz Men still hold the Records....

  • dapaiuraz

  • Woody is the best,Woody is absolute POWER!!!!!!!!!

  • Hands down best band Woody ever had! Bill Chase, Sal Nistico, Phil Wilson, Jake Hanna, Henry Southall, et-al.

  • those back rounds are so great

  • dude... the drummer in the beginning is sooooooo fucking tight. way ahead of his time. matching triplets on the ride and snare. the birth of the blast beat!

  • i got to play this song in a district jazz band about a month ago...one of the best songs i've ever played.

  • Phil Wilson's initial solo is annoying; not very artistic. Just showing off his squealing technique. The saxes on the other hand, give very tasty solos.

  • Woody's best band ever

  • "Woody's best band ever"

Imo the horn players are first-rate and the rhythm section doesn't hold a candle to Burns/Bauer/Jackson/Tough.

  • This Wody Herman band was fantastic in 1960s . Great solists Phil Wilson,Bill Chase trumpet would later lead the fantastic rock jazz band Chase! Long Live Woody!

  • Woody Herman is really good. =)

  • This is the band that toured the UK in 1964. Had the pleasure of seeing them twice that year. Jake Hanna was fantastic.

  • top cut woody right there
