I've followed MidEx from the very beginning. The story is a textbook case of how to build a great brand, a premium product, and a loyal customer base willing to pay that premium, and then destroy it.
That's the legendary Ron Rolland (the voiceover for WLS-TV's "Eyewitness News"/'ABC 7 News" in Chicago from 1992-2009, and WBBM-TV's "Channel 2 News" from the 1980s-1990) doing the voiceover in the commercial. Didn't know that he did voiceovers for Midwest commercials as well.
Hope Republic keeps the cookies as part of the product of the new, merged airline. It would be a shame if they went away at the same time as the Midwest brand, and I think the passengers in DEN would love them, too.
YX should have taken the offer to be purchased by FL. As a former employee, and know looking at all of the cost-cutting going on at YX, the FL merger would have been way better than the NW merger.
For those of you bitching about the meals and seats ... those aren't the only things that made Midwest special. Their customer service is still regarded as superior to most other airliners, and that's the one thing that hasn't changed.
That said ... the commercial is a reminder of what the old days were like. Let's hope Midwest sticks around and doesn't disappear.
You won't see them on Midwest anymore either. I used to fly Midwest all the time (being from Milwaukee). Now, there's nothing special to them. Regular seats and no meals. Just another airline in the bunch.
Midwest still has the same seats...but the only place you will see free food is Trans-Pacific and Alantic Flights...But they still have their Cookies!!
Everyone makes a big deal about the damn cookies. Its so lame, maybe if they kept the free meal they wouldn't be at risk of being bought out right now. Noone really cares about a cookie do they?
I flew Midwest for this FRIST time last week and I LOVE THEM!!!! The warm cookies were awsome. The 2x2 seating and the food I bought on the plane was great. MIDWEST ROCKS!!!! I hate to say this (Sorry Continental) but Midwest is now my favorite airline. I LOVE THE COOKIES!!!!!

Only problem is that FL admitted that they would be in Chapter 11 if it happened

Don't count on seeing these great meals on all United or American flights anymore, even in first class!
