To all who have been stupid ass whores and cussed me out for saying it doesn't require a $30 dollar plan. I GET IT! I was misinformed at the time. sheesh
how can you get music from say your itunes onto your phone? i just bought this and after plugging it into my computer it asks for a disk which it did not come with, i was wondering how i would do this
You need a data plan for this phone. For verizon it will be the palm data plan costing $30 a month. This is a required fee, and you also need a gmail account
You just told me what I had already known. I was just stating how pissed it makes me that people tell others that you NEED a blackberry plan. thats all...
I just got this phone, and it is the coolest thing ever!!! it is such a nice phone, and the battery life is great and a few simple tricks. I love it, i would recommend this phone to everyone.
I know it would be the practical and smart thing to do, but I'm tired of people saying you HAVE to get a data plan...that's all. Great review by the way!
you dont need a blackberry plan there is a difference and the only difference between a data plan and a normal plan is internet and more access and about ten dollars...a blackberry plan is about fifty dollars more then a regular plan and no you cant have a standard plan because then you have to delete just about everything about that fone...
it does need the data plan, and it will cost an extra $30 a month since its an android phone. i got the droid and my sister got the touch pro 2 so we had to turn off our home phone, we didn't use it anyway :)
@anyonebutyouNjersey there are a multitude of android messaging applications, but one in partcullar is Hello Aim. It seems to be our favorite for AIM exclusive messaging. Hope this helps!
Quick question, though: You said it will get an update to 2.0 in early 2010. Does this mean you can update it if you already have the phone, or would you have to buy a 2.0 version phone?
The phone will just need a software patch thats it. all reports as of now show it being just a simple patch, no fees. However i do not see the carriers or htc, upgrading the eris after the patch is available.
I agree thatsnothawtxD, the Motorola DROID is wayyy too bulky and heavy. The HTC DROID Eris is thin, pocketable, and has great features. I can't wait to get it this weekend!
I cannot wait for this phone. I am happy that it comes with a USB cable so i can put my music on it. Good thing i DO have an internet plan. I saw the Droid in BestBuy. It isnt appealing to me. I am just in love with the HTC Droid Eris. :)
@masterman ...i agree with you on the teenyboppers part....i read on one of the forum (engadget or gizmodo..i forget which one) that motorola actually gave the droid to tmobile first to try out and play with for a few months, but they choose to go with the cliq instead...how stupid is that?!!!
The Cliq is proof that T-Mobile only cares about teenyboppers (the Sidekick's demographic). I can't understand who would buy a $199 Cliq to use on T-Mobile's network. For the same price, they could get a 16GB iPhone 3GS or a Droid with "the Network". T-Mobile's new prices aren't really any cheaper than the competition like they used to be. T-Mobile now requires a $30 plan..same as ATT and Verizon. With a low-end Cliq at $199, why would a new customer go with them?
I know right? I had T-mobile prepaid phone one time and it doesn't pick up signals everywhere, but it will pick up in some other locations I've been before. That's why I'm not with them no more. T-mobile is just terrible!
lol...that's so true....motorola gave the droid to verizon and the cliq to tmobile....lol...i'm sorry, i'm not making fun of u, i'm just saying that tmobile sucks and motorola knows that...that's why they gave the droid to verizon
I freakin love this phone !!!! The box is so cool :)

i tried to do that today, i was hoping i could just get my data through wifi. They make you get the 30$ plan.
magiccatz 2 years ago
why does everybody say that!? you don't need the 30$ blackberry plan! you just need any standard plan of your choice!
smarttechmouse 2 years ago
it might not be required however as the phone is so data heavy it would be a mistake and travesty to corral the phone into such a limited corner.

Any phone with a keyboard just screams "teenager."
The Eris, once it gets 2.0, will be my new phone, unless another keyboard-free 2.0 phone for Verizon comes out by August.

Im pretty sure Blackberrys arent aimed towards teenagers, but ok.
