Izzy was the blood, guts, tendon and sinew of GNR....he was the traditionalist that laid down quirky, scratchy, simple but highly personalized rhythm tracks, so Slash could play guitar god, and Axl could vent his rage. Similarly, Adler was the central nervous system of that band. The stuff on Illusion was great hard rock...some of extremely great...but Appetite was....SPECIAL.  Period.

They really were a great band in tat they improved each others contributions. No matter where, on the great big music wheel, each member came from, they had a shared vision of the proper place for the end product. Very rare for such major and disparate talents to maintain a common goal. A powerful member of one of Rocks great bands. HOF

Think about this and I am not kidding.... for many people Guns N Roses was the greatest rock band ever existed just behind the Stones and Led Zeppellin... The fact is that Izzy Stradlin was the main composer of Guns N roses and also shared the lyrics composition as well, so this makes of Mr. Stradlin not one of the most underrated players in rock, this makes him one of the mos underrated artist in music history

Shot in Chicago at now defunct Chicago Rehearsal Studios. I was an engineer there back in the day. Gave Izzy a ride back to his hotel. Great guy, very gracious. Turned on the radio and "Patience" was playing. I kept my hand on the tuner...he said "Go ahead change it, I'm sick of that f**king song too!". When we got to the hotel he gave me two passes to his show that night. It was an awesome show. Thanks Izzy.
