When anyone attempted a live daily daytime network variety show in the '50s {i.e. Garry Moore, Kate Smith, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Bob Crosby, Jack Paar, et. al.}, results often varied from day to day. One day, it could be a "keeper"- the next...."eh!". It depended on the material and the input from everyone (including the audience). You'd be surprised how many "dull stretches" there were in those shows- including Betty's.
