@mizhar101 Nay...plain, unsweetened yogurt. Make sure there are no other ingredients except the cultured milk (it may say cultured milk or it will say milk and list the bacteria strains).
@bnjmnkntts Yes, it's a wonderful antiseptic but as for the express treatment of large pores, it will most likely not be helpful. The tips in this video and Part 2 should help you though!
@myEyeShadownisloose There's lots of recipes out there online and in books – it's vegetable juice. For instance, you can juice spinach, cucumber, and apple together – amazing for your skin and tastes good (you wouldn't think so, but it's yummy).
Do you know of an exfoliating scrub that's gentle for the skin, all natural ingredients (prefurably water based) for combo skin? I really need help finding a good exfoliating scrub, if you could get back to me, that would be great. :D
@EpicPiano12 Yep! I have 4 favorites - 2 are physical scrubs, and 2 are non-physical gentle peels: Skin Apotheke Ubtan Scrub, ARCONA Cranberry Gommage, ARCONA Raspberry Peel, and SIRCUIT Mocha Locha 4% Lactic Acid Peel. Of course, yogurt is another great non-physical exfoliant.
hey sorry if you've already answered this question before.. but can you tell us in a lil more detail how to use yogurt and sour cream as a mask? how long are we keeping the sour cream on our face? any specific ways of applying it? and how to wash it off? thanks! :)
@sk09 No worries...you apply it with your fingers to a clean face, which can be dry or slightly damp (freshly washed). You don't have to apply it to your whole face - often I just apply it to my T-zone, so it's whatever you feel like. Leave it on 10 minutes MAX and wash it off with lukewarm water. Wash it off really well and make sure it's all removed around your hairline - you don't want to smell like yogurt later. You can follow with a natural toner if you wish.
you really inspired me to eat a bit healthier. my friends always likes to go to McDonalds and i do usually go with them, but now i havent eat McDonalds for a long time. im 13 and im not trying to loose weight or anything, coz im not even fat, but i like to treat my body a bit better :) i drink now more water and eat more fruits and vegies because of you :D thanks Steph!
@PinkBlushing That's awesome! I'm really glad you're doing so well - keep up the good habits and you'll have a healthy, beautiful body for your whole life. :)
@ShirlaIsASquirrel Haha no, I'm not Amish. ;) I tried soda once a few years ago and it was friggin horrible. My parents were very health conscious (and still are) - my dad grew fruit in the backyard and my mom raised us on her own cooking. My European friends/family grew up this way as well. McDonald's and soda and all that crap is a very American thing, but unfortunately it's spreading rapidly to other countries and we're seeing obesity and acne rates go up in those areas as well.
@epicbeautyguide Well if you ask me, I'd say you're lucky. I grew up on nothing but McDonald's mostly. I was raised by my great grandmother and she didn't like to cook, and now I'm paying for it.:/
@ShirlaIsASquirrel You can always "undo" past treatment to your body. As long as you eat healthy and treat your body well, it will respond and reward you with clear skin and so on. So don't worry about your past diet, any "damage" is not permanent at this point.
@epicbeautyguide Wow, i hate soda too! :) hahaa. Also, my new years resolution has been NO fast food/junk food/takeaways + i haven't had any yet + was thinking of doing it even long term like you so hopefullyyy i'll get amazing skin like you!!!! =D
I made the switch to "additive free" food about 4 years ago now, and I will NEVER go back to eating the crap! You need to read ingredients lists on labels but if it contains artificial colours, artificial flavours, and other junk like sulphite or nitrite preservatives, or high fructose corn syrup (aka: glucose-fructose syrup), just don't eat it. Yes it takes some will power, but I found that doing some research and finding an alternative product to the things you love really helps.
How do you suggest getting into healthy eating? I always lapse in and out. Did you always eat healthily, or was it a struggle to make healthy eating a habit?
@brownieblush Good question...I would say find something that motivates you to eat healthy and stick with it. It wasn't a struggle for me because my family always ate healthy - I've never eaten McDonald's and the first time I tried a soda was in high school, and I was disgusted by the taste of it (plus the carbonation was awful haha). Just pick the lesser of two evils. Eating healthy simply means not eating processed, packaged crap. Find a healthy alternative to the junk. For instance, go with
natural corn chips (ingredients: stoneground corn, sea salt...nothing funky) instead of the commercially available junk. If you want ice cream, check the ingredients. I love ice cream, so when I feel like having it, I buy it organic/grass-fed (Julie's and LaLoo's are my favorite) and without any preservatives or high fructose corn syrup. Hot dogs - buy it nitrate/nitrate-free. Bread - buy the sprouted whole grain type with no added sugar, dough conditioners, or preservatives. You get the idea.
Eating healthy becomes a habit, and after a while your taste buds and preferences change and you won't enjoy the junk anymore. Focus on eating fresh or steamed veggies, fresh fruit, wild seafood, and grass-fed/organic meats. Always go with the best you can afford. Think of it like putting premium fuel in your tank. You only get one body, so you need to treat it well and give it what it needs if you want to feel good, look good, and live a long time.
to wash your face, is hot water, lukewarm water, or cold water better? cause I'm used to hot water but I've heard it can actually cause eczema and dry your skin?
@JexxyT As floppydino mentioned, you'll want to use lukewarm water since it doesn't strip the oils from your skin as badly as hot will. Cool water is great to finish your wash with because it constricts the blood vessels and helps create a pumping action with the blood flow which helps move oxygen and nutrients into the skin. It doesn't shrink pores, though.
@OmgJBXD For shrinking pores? No, not a particularly good idea, considering most mayo contains ingredients that you shouldn't eat, let alone put on your face. If you get a good organic mayo, even then, you may end up just irritating your skin or clogging pores.
@hakichi As long as you're gentle and use it at night (lemon can cause you to be a little photosensitive), you should be okay. Try it out and see how your skin likes it.
:) hello. i heard for dry skin you should use eggyolk and for oily skin eggwhite. i m confused now whats true and what not.. i heard as well eggyolk protects against cancer and wrinkles. i m not really sure i heard both versions. either eggyolk or eggwhite reducuses pores...>.< whats true
@Nadeshikoslove Egg white reduces pores. Egg yolk helps regulate sebum production and moisturize the skin. Both are great and both help your pores. Try using the egg white mask first, then using the egg yolk after. Or, use them on separate days.
@blondchick4 I don't recommend Yoplait or anything like that. The yogurt ought to be plain, unsweetened, and organic. The only ingredients should be milk and cultures (probiotics - often listed as acidophilus, etc.).
@TheAlyssajenette I used to be vegetarian and vegan, but not anymore. I haven't been vegetarian or vegan for about a year now. I haven't noticed a difference in my skin other than it has improved and my hair has gotten a bit thicker and sheds less. Some people really thrive on vegetariansim and veganism and their skin does great, others not so much. I find that avoiding conventional cow dairy and fried foods has the biggest positive effect on many people's skin.
if you shrink your pores too much, you won't get enough oxygen and nitrogen through your skin layer, and thus, to your brain. ultimately causing Kuru as well as lymphatic cancer.
@LoveOfMules13 thats true, but unless u have extrodinary surgury on your face to have your pores completley gone, theres no way to stop having pores except making them less visable!
@off2lovelyLondon My favorite is 1 apple, 1 cucumber, and a few stalks of celery. It makes about 16 ounces of juice and it is SO refreshing. Other than that, I usually just throw all kinds of stuff in there and hope it tastes good. xD
@jamesscott1015 If you don't have a juicer, you can blend it and strain it through a mesh strainer to get just the juice. I would definitely suggest getting a juicer though. Amazon has some great deals, just check the reviews so you get a good one. :)
Have you heard of the aztec secret clay mask? Would that be something you'd recommend? Apparently it's so intense you can feel your face "pulsating". I'm thinking about trying it, but worried it may produce adverse effects like the pore strips...
@Frailember Yes I have! I used it twice but it screwed up my skin really bad - it was very drying and my skin remained red for hours. :P I do have more sensitive skin, but you might want to dry more gentle clay masks first.
@VickyCxXx Good guess. :D Haha yes, and on the blog post (the link is in the bottom bar), under Technique #3, I tell everyone exactly how to use a yogurt mask and what type of yogurt to use. So that should be really helpful.
