Classic. Team up "Math Patrol" and "MathMakers" and you had one awesome fun learning experience I'll put up against any 2 kids shows on TVO now for helping kids learn. Stick to the classics TVO, they work!
I am personally acquainted with the male vocalist on this theme - none other than the dulcet toned and very handsome Bill Misener!!! aka Bill Marion, Billy Mysner, the very same original member of The Paupers, oh, and my HUSBAND!
I remember this show! I have been searching You Tube for it. Thanks for posting the intro. Brings back memories. I miss those classic PBS educational shows. The ones out now suck.
Holy Cow!!! We watched this Grade 2-3 at Seneca Hill PS. We all yelled OUCH when Sidney's tail got pinched by the doors. Now someone has to post the Quebecois bum that taught us French.
@Mishi45 I remember Parlez-Moi! That Shows was awesome, and I watched it all the time as a kid growing up in Iowa! Most of the educational TV shows they aired on PBS were from TVOntario. :)
Wow thanks for the posting, this was my favourite show when I was first going to school back in the 70's! I wish you could have gotten the Mr Big dialogue at the beginning as well!
The big question is: do they still exist? I heard a nasty rumour from a friend who spent some time at TVO that they "cleaned out their vault" during the NDP period of 1990-95. Maybe some U.S. high school still has a VCR tape of them?
A U.S. school might have them, or someone lucky enough to have recorded them. The Math Patrol theme I recorded back in 1995 so it's possible other people have it. All those classic shows simply "cleaned out"...*shudder*
@Mishi45 I keep kicking myself for not having tried to record a lot of these shows back in the late 80s or early 90s when I think they might have been last played on TVO. I've been able to find kids shows here and there on DVD and VHS from the 70s era, but it's hard. They were only offered to educational institutions, not for public purchase, and they only put out random episodes here and there.
@Hipfan33 There's a company in Canada that has offered some TVO kids shows for sale. But they're selling them an episode per disc, and they're very expensive (something like $60 each), but I haven't checked their website for well over a year now. Maybe the prices have gone down. They had titles like Read All About It, Eureka, Math Patrol, etc... They're pretty good quality, since I was able to borrow a few from the library. Sadly, the library doesn't carry all of the titles.
I would like to not only see Math Patrol on DVD, but another show I remember:
Dragons, Wagons, and Wax. These were really good shows that should be made available on DVD and even put back in the PBS lineup

This song always sticks in my head whenever I think of it. Those theme songs from TVO shows were always well written and catchy.
