  • Being more familiar with his post-Concerto for Orchestra music, i.e. the mature composer, this beautifully played sonata comes as an extremely pleasant surprise, thank you for posting. The late Romantic Polish sensibilities are evident, quite a world away from Chain 2 & the string quartet!

  • great piece and wonderful visualization

  • Beautiful

  • Amazing sonata- characteristic and colourful!!!

  • you think you could try uploading the file again?

  • can you upload the file again? it's apparently broken down, something's missing towards the end.

  • The graphic content does not match Lutoslawski

  • Ravelian melodies, barely so, harmonies, less. Sounds like bad Scriabin. Some of these Polish composers got victimized by listening to the piano of the "bad" Szymanowski (there is also the "good" Szymanowski like his Op.50, very hard to imitate). They were turned on by his supposed desirable "sensuosness", but this guy is not a Polish Ravel, he is much less than that, and so they went a bit astray here.

  • @fredericfranc the worst thing is, some of the file is missing... still, Lutoslawski never agreed to publish this piece, he wrote it when studying. no, the bad Scriabin isn't quite a match for Lutoslawski's later pieces.

  • @PawelWysocki ...are there any worthwhile solo piano pieces of Mr.L. to be found around here, besides those etudes?...the question is also begged if the "good" Scriabin exists at all, and what would that be...but this looks like I am trying to get a rise out of the Scriabinians...and those people I don't really want to get after my ass...they are too fierce for me to handle...

  • @fredericfranc no way they are. well, I've never heard of anyone using a nick, say, BachFanatic :) I'm not a big fan of Scriabin myself so no worries about it.

  • Why does it just cut off? Where is the rest of the first movement??

  • how beautiful

  • Also a little like E. Tubin's piano work !

  • very nice, thank you. other parts coming up? :)

  • @ruf11 Ya I'll try to get the rest of it up today :)

  • @ScriabinFanatic thanks, looking forward to it.

  • @ruf11 Whew, finally got the other two parts up :)

  • Do you know when it was written?

  • 1934

  • Yes, I thought this too. I felt like some of the melodies and harmonic structure were similar to some of Ravel's piano works

  • This is an interesting sonata. Sounds like an expansion on Ravel. Very nice.
