  • This dudes are so awesome... the singers voice sounds like 10 years ago... =D

  • Die hard INCUBUS FAN!!!!!!!! Also a BMX RACER, I listen to this song before I go race

    I love this song it's awesommeee !

  • aren't you only 8 though

  • what is wrong with you

this is a great song, theyre just as good as theyve always been

  • What a great song... I think this band will stand the test of time like not many others today.

  • Comment removed

  • I love them...They are my life

  • la voz de Brandon la mejor de todas!

  • Gosh, I love Incubus. Plus Brandon is so cute.

  • El mejor album fue "Morning View"....pero los demás albumes tb tienen lo suyo...buena canción!!

  • science lejos el mejor o make yourself

  • this band is gunna be around for ever.

  • Why do you guys argue constantly?

If they dont like it, they dont.

    If they do, they do.

    Leave it at that.

  • @Kinderocks It woulntt be the internet if we didn't try and prove ourselves right.

  • I have a Incubus tattoo :)

  • I despise people that hate on a bands new music just because its different, you don't deserve to call yourself a fan. Changing and evolving is a result of growth. Good bands don't sound exactly the same their entire careers.

  • Instrumentally sound. Vocals are as good as always. Sound is a bit generic, which I'm not used to from Incubus. Song doesn't have much progression, same feel throughout the entire song. Not terribly into this.

  • SCIENCE, fungus amongus, and make yourself were much better.

I miss the funk and DJ mixings that used to make them so different and amazing to listen to.

they sound too close to mainstream now =\

  • type secretmonkeyman to see the coolest videos on youtube

  • My favorite band and as always amazing. I just wish the flippin lable would let them put out more music instead of waiting years between albums

  • Actually I think that was a conscious decision on their end. Einziger went off to Harvard to study music, and I think Boyd ended up taking some classes around So Cal. Jose had a kid, Ben worked on a bunch of side projects, and Chris has allegedly spent his time off "perfecting the art of the blunt."

All good uses of free time. :)

  • Good song, but what the fuck, where are the incubus of "make yourself"?

I don't think they will be able anymore to do so something near that album.

  • They're gone, man. And you know what, I'm totally fine with that. I enjoy listening to this band move forward and evolve as artists instead of succumbing to the desire of early fans for them to be gripped by one musical genre. Personally, I'd be content if they only went back for shows, and changed up some of the songs.

It's the sign of innovative musicianship, and creative control. Just because their songs are more catchy and pop doesn't make them any less artistic. I still dig this band.

  • Yeah I agree with this, believe me.

But what I wanna say is different, for me the best kind of music that Incubus made is that alternative rock of make yourself.

This is good, but not like those albums.

The only band that could do the best in every situation was Pink Floyd ;D

  • I have to disagree, but this is coming from a guy whose favorite Incubus album is A Crow Left of the Murder. I love the way they have been growing as artists, and how they seem to one up themselves.

Light Grenades might have been a bit more poppy, but I dug it. I think that if they make another album that is as musically innovative as Crow, I will be a happy boy.

If you are looking for a somewhat blast from the past, however, check out one of their new songs called Midnight Swim.

  • A Crow has the best Incubus song, IMHO, Sick Sad Little World.

They have become good artists, but I repeat, I think they had more potentiality for becoming something better.

Light Granades is a good album (yeah, anyway I'm an incubus fan with all they album) some songs (dig, love hurts) try to be similar to drive. I don't like Earth to bella, no sense.

By the way they are good artists, so I'll buy soon the album (no SCIENCE songs?!) and I'll listen to Midnight swim too ;)

  • I think you're sort of undermining just how clever Earth to Bella actually is. It's too bad the song had to come out in conjunction with those god damn Twilight books. Dig and Love Hurts struck me as two singles that are something more poppy for Incubus, but still innovating and out-of-element. Structurally and lyrically, there aren't many similarities.

Earth to Bella is actually kind of moving in and of itself, and I think the second part of the song brings the point around nicely. :)

  • um NO pink floyd is not THAT versatile ... i love how incubus can be different ... and i seriously doubt they care what u think because incubus is an organic band that never forces itself on u ... they let u decide... i hate mainstream music a.k.a. radio music ... i swear ... i will not listen to the radio for a year and come back to the same idiotic linkin park song on the same station

  • Yes, I repeat, Incubus is one of the best bands of nowadays.

But saying that PF wasn't versatile...

Damn, they was able to do the best from beatles ballads to psichedelic songs, lisergic and geometric. Hard rock, prog, hard prog, concept albums, melancholic ballads, pop, rock, avant-garde, soundrtracks, acid rock, space rock, art rock, funky...

Or you don't really know them, or you are simply blind!

  • nope i dont see them that way ... i went to their concert in may of 1977 and they blew me away ... and ya they did some awesome work incredible original work but i dont see them as versitile ... they had a destinct style and thats what they did u cant hear a pink floyd song and say ... who was that?

  • dude, that is so true. i feel the same way.

  • Dude, fuck you! Ben Kenny is sick!

  • oh my gosh.. i just love brandon... and ofcourse incubus too

  • INCUBUS ur ALIVE hahha.. THE BEST of The BEST...

  • where are you incubus?? where are the 90's?

  • I love it :-)

  • Incubus is back :-D

  • DUDE MIKE PLAYED A SOLO OMFG !!!!

incubus never fail to suprise me

  • i love his voice - he's so adorable!!! :D

  • this band fell off. fungus amungus and science, where have you gone?

  • To Brandon.....form Anna Molly

I am here to prove to you that song "Love Hurts" is all wrong!

The only way your heart might get rumbled,

is if while climbing my mountain-you take a tumble.

There is nothing I would ever do that would harm you indeed, except maybe just help myself to a joint of Kil's MEGA-weed!

I will support your art habit and maybe even pose for you on mellow days, once I send that black heart inertia all away!

    luv, a.m. xxxx

  • Seriously incubus is the onlyyyyy band that when producing a new album, the songs never disapoint, its always something new and great sounding

  • RIGHT!! they never fail to suprise me

  • the BEST band of the last twenty years, never the same, always good.

  • THE VIEW!!!

  • is michaels solo in the music video? I'm sure I didn't hear this before..

  • yeh it is

  • new shit old shit.. its all good shit

  • im psyched to see what mike's harvard music research is going to do for incubus, im getting shivers thinking about it.

  • cant wait for the new cd! i hope it has some harder shit than this

  • cant wait to see them august 9th!

  • I want to like this song, but after a couple listens it's still not really doing it for me.

  • oh same here..I tried liking it and it's not working. =(

  • this song couldent be more musically adventureous...ihave u heard einzinger to a solo like that before...and just listen to the lyrics

  • I miss Enjoy Incubus

  • Those were good times,

but I can't say I'm not pleased with any of Incubus' new stuff.

I love all of it really!

  • Get over science, it's 2009, if you haven't noticed, things change.

I think this music is great, there's nothing like this in the mainstream.

  • I agree 100%. Ben Kenney has been a good influence. Their music now is different than it was 10 years ago but it is equally amazing.

  • i think it all changed (for better) since they started working with genius Brendan O'Brien...!

  • Rogue is by far the best song on Light grenades, right on dcflaggclawandorder

  • Exactly... u r so right... that's the expresion... "musically adventurous."

  • Incubus was better than this... S.C.I.E.N.C.E. ... Until Morning View... but now... i dont like their music. =S... this sounds too "A crow lef to the murder"... it sounds commercial... too bad.

  • Yeah, they definitely used to be more musically adventurous.

  • Comment removed

  • as a candid music fan, this song is pretty cool

  • Comment removed

  • Q good song, the change of metric and as the acomplan it is the better(best) thing of the INCUBUS!!!!

  • Hey man.. Always good to hear your voice!

  • Ha, I don't know about anyone else but when I hear a good song such as this, I go out and buy it and I really couldn't give a flying f**k whether its "commercial" or not. Grow up and appreciate bands for the excellent musicians that they are instead of knocking them for being too popular, what a load of horse s**t!

  • you should be hung for that(j/k we all can have an opinion) personally i love this song, Brandon(incubus) can do no wrong

  • WTF! What are u taking about? This is an awesome song and the vid is awesome as well. Listen to Mike's solo ( it's insane not to like it), the bass line, Brandon's amazing and flawless voice, the lyrics:

    "Pulled by a false inertia

    Pushed out by circumstance

    Pistol firing at my feet

    That's coercing me to dance"

Incubus is one of the greatest bands that makes really good music, and never dissapointed me!

  • this video is very well made... thanx! :D xxx

  • Nothing beats Morning View imho

  • chargiech this is a good song man! thanks!!!

  • I like it.. kinda reminds me of A Crow Left of the Murder album

  • I'd have to say it's not the commercial part that degrades incubus of what it was, but musically - and annoyingly sometimes lyrically (read: love hurts) - it sounds just bland... They were always known to create very "rich" pieces... Well it proves a point that ben kenney can never replace alex... Or maybe theyre just gettng old...

  • Or maybe your knowledge of music is quite lacking, as you seem to fail to realize that this song isn't in the "typical and commercial" 4/4 time signature. Come back again when you've gone to school. Peace and love.

  • And so stands before me another apologetic fanboy... I've been listening to the band since S.C.I.E.N.C.E. so i know what i'm talking about when i say they have deteriorated, not to argue but i specifically said it was not "rich", meaning in the typical sound layering. nothing to do with your time signature argument. just because it uses 6/4 time signature doesn't necessarily means it's a great song. it's a standard deviation, are you in awe? don't get out much do you? figures....

  • every band deteriorates i cant think of a single band that was as great as their first 3 albums

  • I'd say U2...

nah.... yeah i guess youre right....

  • Oh yes, there is. Radiohead. And they have not deteriorate since. But oh well, Incubus was great - 2 of their best albums, Morning View & S.C.I.E.N.C.E still tops. I still don't understand why are they coming out with a two-CD compilation album. Why not put the new songs and make a new album? I was really looking forward for a new album by them. This song is NOT their best, let's just see where this single or this compilation album might lead them, still..one of the best LIVE bands out there.

  • It grows on you though! I started thinking they got pretty much started getting soft after S.C.I.E.N.C.E but I keep listening and loving it. Def not their best song, but give it a little time

  • this started as a legal obligation in their contract and became their reason to come back and tour again

  • beatles

  • ...and str8, just to widen your horizon, if you want to listen to quality songs experimenting with time signatures listen to toe (japan) and mew (denmark), not that i have lost my faith and respect in this band. works like rogues and pendolous threads in their latest album were excelent, it's just from time to time there are too many fuck ups, but hey nothing is constantly perfect anyway... point in case: don't be an apologetic fanboy with a weak argument

  • dude i totally agree with you in many things. this song is obviously not their best work, but there are some awesome new songs on the Best Of. Check it Out

  • thx sariiita, looking forward to checking it out... i'm actually looking for the "look alive"dvd.... they're las performance in indonesia last year was great but ended a bit anti-climactic.... they rock live waay better than in studio....

  • Okay so when you define "rich" as not being "in the typical sound layering," just what does that mean? When I think of quality Incubus song, I think of a song like "Here in my room" which is full of chromatic mediants (look it up). I'm not a fanboy, I'm just someone who is able to dissect each and every one of their pieces and know that most of their works are quite musical indeed, far from ordinary, and usually quite unique.

  • Okaayy!! We've got a music geek here everybody, let me just pat you on the back and let's hope your bottle lens glasses don't fall off (for real geeks, sorry for the stereotyping it's just a analogy)... if you still have a problem understanding not being "in the typical sound layering" you really don't know incubus... this is the problem, youre talking scales and time signatures im talking about composition... i myself am a fan and musician... youre just a theory geek... give it a rest already.

  • LOVED Rogue. Light Grenades is a great song to though.

  • sounds like good ol' incubus to me? I dont know why you guys all think it's so "commercial"...

  • HMMMM..... I have to say, im fairly disappointed in this as i've been looking foward to it for ages.... maybe it will grow on me; who knows!!! Just hope there's some better songs on their new album.... Peace X

  • that's what happened to me...my friend learned the guitar and then it was stuck in my head and i've been listenin to it

  • Good new song. and I'm sorry but haven't they always been commercial? Light Grenades and A Crow . . . both reached no. 1 in America, Morning View reached no. 2 as well.

They're not ZOMG UNDERGROUND AS FUCK!!11 they're a good band.

I think the video's supposed to be a piss take anyway.

  • this song is ok, incubus can do better tho...

  • oh my good, has anybody seen the videos to this song? it`s a kind of nightmare....brandon`s got short hair, no longer tunnels and there are a lot of chicks in this video...i am so so dissapointed! i really adore incubus and their music, espacially the older songs, but that sounds so commercial!

when does the new album come?

  • Monuments and Melodies available 6.16.09

...and yes... it sounds so commercial.. :S

  • I think his hair looks good short. But yea, maybe it sounds a bit commercial.

  • I didnt like the song at first, but after a few listens Im liking it more and more.

  • its an ok song

  • Good job with the timing there - very well put together video!

Song will take a bit of getting used to, as was mentioned, their style changes every album which is a beautiful thing.

  • Really nice song, it reminds me of Pearl Jam's style a little!

  • no no. not at all

  • agreed ntf284

i think hes going to be delicious for life

oh and their old music was amazing but this

    isn't bad at all

  • every time Incubus release a new album i treat them as an entirely new band. And i mean that as a good thing, i love their diversity of writing and style changes <3

  • always is this the same conversation.. incubus .. its like this now.

  • well ive listened to every incubus album repeatedly so im fully aware of the change in style that has happened with each album. comparing fungus and m.v. isnt really fair because fungus took place during a period of heavier drug use for the band. now as for ben, i in no sense blamed him as a reason for the change in style, read again you'll see. Im all for ORIGINALITY and never said they lacked it. I was stating that dirk was an important factor in writing and structure of songs. mind your words

  • Well "mind your word"

    That was your comment:

" brandons lyrics have increasingly lacked depth ever since morning view. incubus hasnt been the same since Dirk left. "

    Sorry if I missunderstood you.

I just get REALLY pissed off when I read these kind of comments.Of course Dirk was important, and I love the songs they wrote together, but Ben is important as well. And to respond more clearly at your comment., Brandon was the one who wrote the lyrics in the past, not Dirk

  • i didnt used to iike it but its growing on me... i find tht with incubus there music is so oiginal it takes more time to sink in

  • Nah...sorry, Incubus, but I don't think this is anywhere near as good as some songs I could name. It's album filler. Disappointing.

  • Having said that, thanks for the video, Christi0v. Brandon is still delicious.

  • The lyrics aren't all that good. but the music I still like. It's Incubus, and that's all I care about :)

  • brandons lyrics have increasingly lacked depth ever since morning view. incubus hasnt been the same since Dirk left.

  • Ignmag,

I have to agree with you. I don't say it lightly, because I was obsessed with Incubus up to and through Morning View, but I can't get into their new stuff anymore. And it's not that they're not talented--they ARE--great artists. I dunno, I can't put my finger on it. Just my two cents.

  • Well actually Incubus was always different from album to album even when Dirk was part of the band. Just listen to Fungus Amongus and then to Morning View. You'll see what I'm talking about....

Now, I really don't get it, why blaming Ben for the style change when actually Incubus was changing their style from album to album even when Dirk was part of the band.

They've said that their sound will always change, either you'll like it or not.

    It's called ORIGINALITY

  • This fucking blows, Fungus Amongus, S.C.I.E.N.CE, Make Yourself, and Morning View were all kick ass, but this is just shit. "your a mountain I would like to climb" give me a break

  • i really love incubus..

  • If it's Incubus it's gotta be good. And it is :D Missed them and someth new. I like it ;)

  • i love incubus so much incubus is not like any other band they dont care about money their about MUSIC! i love them so much i got them tattooed on me and im gonna get plenty more incubus tattoos their the one band ive always loved!! i dont care if brandon boyds a 100 he's still gorgeous!!!!

  • It's not pop, it's not anything. It's Incubus, and they are their own unique sound. And it's good.

  • i like very few bands that started out after the mid 90s and incubus is one of them.

  • i can see that, incubus started slightly before mid 90s but got successful turn of the century

  • God I am really confused on how this is a pop song. I guess singing about girls automatically makes you a pop artist? Incubus being my favorite band, I believe they have proven to be the greatest band of my era. So if they are still throwin out hits in 2009, and Brandon still sounds this flawless, I'm gonna love whatever they put out. I just want someone to explain to me how this song sounds poppy.

  • Great vid! Put together brilliantly. I love Incubus, and have since Fungus Amongus.......but this chorus, WTF! The verse's are great but - "your a mountain", "your a bonfire", i just can't help but dislike it. Everything else about the song is fantastic, i just can't help but hate the chorus!

  • incubus is not pop.

they reinvent their sound on every album.

just because this doesn't sound like science or make yourself it does sound similar to a.c.l.o.t.m. which was a bomb cd.

    so fuck u

  • i really love incubus man, but doesnt mean that this song r good.... incubus = good music"

but this sounds emm a lil bad..... YEAH ID SAY IT .... well i dont hate the new waves of sounds or rithyms but incubus its more than this kind of songs or lyrics bro....

  • agree, i didnt like it

  • eh....

  • What happened to these guys...........

  • Video very well put together. Great Stuff.

  • i dont like it, incubus = pop

  • When was the last time an Incubus song sucked???? how about never!!!!! every song is a HIT! [=

  • Obsessed (L)

  • this is amazing my Inucubuddy!!! Julia

  • Very nice song, I really like it

  • I love how their sound and patterns are always so unconventional. i always find myself trying to figure out the beat and patterns because it never goes the way i think it will. i LOVE that because they find the most unique ways to put their songs together. not to mention the lyrics are just ...pfft.. flat out WOW.

can't wait to get the album!

  • Uniqueness at it's finest :) Gotta love the ink ;D

  • this is such a great band. it pains me they dont get near the amout of respect and notereity they deserve. they are easily the most consistent and best band in the last 10 years. this song is sonically sound and, just like their progression through their discography, is so different for them. i love their niche to reconstruct themselves yet have their signature on all of their music. HALL OF FAME IN 2020 OR ROCK FAILS!!

  • That is so true, they need to be in tyhe rock and roll hall of fame..considering how many crap people they have, incubus is just pure talent, everyone in the intire band has AMAZING talent and needs to be more recognized. so i agree with you..word up.

  • This reminds me of a song that would be on A crow left of the Murder, it's still nice though =D

  • which i love.

  • Again Incubus continues to amaze. Their sound has evolved with age and wisdom. The roots of their early days are clearly heard. Brandon will truely inspire those who listen with his creative and poetic lyrics

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • It sounds like what incbus was in the beggining with a taste of their new sound. I don't mind it. I hope the album is gonna be really good.

  • Agreed completely! Stil wanna see some return to the funky fungus/S.C.I.E.N.C.E days :P
