PLus you are starting from a build up versus a dead stance which will never be as fast. thats why MJ went 43.1 open and a 42.9 in the relay. I have experience of running the 400 and I know it is bad to tense up when runnig the 400. This is how I came from a 52 my freshmen year in highschool to a 49 my sophmore year just by loosing up some. Michael doesnt appear to ease up he looks as if hes going faster on his last 100 which is very hard for an average 400 meter runner.

That was legit - I got him at a 44 doing a takeoff - he was given the stick 3 seconds behind at the top of the curve. and I did the seconds takeoff from there. I was an all american in college track - and his first 200 of this race was crazy fast, just with his natural speed he is running 44/45 seconds and he has a lop sided split - like 21/23 if he went with a more paced race he could get the world record.

Bolt ran 45.28 yrs b4 he shattered both 100 and 200 world records, now he's faster. The 200 world record is crucial, cause it indicates his stamina and sprinting endurance. Mathematically, a 19.19 200 meters translates to just under 42 flat! (Double 200 meter time, then add 3.5 seconds for fatigue). He's capable of running 44.0 "raw". If he were to train solely 400 meters for a year, he'd lose to Jeremy a few times then make the adjustment, somewhere in the 42's!!! And he's a youngster!!!

MJ ran 43.18 WR and "only" did a 42.94 relay time. probably shouldve ran a 42.5 relay leg?- not sure about that..relay legs are hit and miss. many times MJ ran 43.0-43.5 as his relay leg and he was a 43.5-44.0 runner. so i'd say 0.5 is about the difference. that'd put usain at around 44.1 form right now. To beat MJ's 400m WR is not going to be easy..even for Usain.

@peytonisapimp But remember this is off a flying start, Bolt's open 400m PB is 45.28, although if he were to run like this in the open 400m I think he could have gotten around 44.5.

I read that the winning guy pointed at bolt b4 i watched the video. thought the guy who received the baton close to the winner was usain..then i realized that usain was like 50 yards back when he got the baton...why even point at usain after he just ran like 4 seconds faster than you.

Notice Usain Bolt had no reaction to that guy pointing at him, because Usain knows he just ran like 4 full seconds faster than the guy. I wouldn't feel like karma hit me for being taunted by an unintelligent individual.

to put it in context...Bolt runs this 43.6 in early season, out of shape..and MJ ran a sub 43s relay leg once- at his best, and peaking for it. not to beat down on MJ- the guy was a champ..but Bolt is something else.

oh i see what you're saying. MJ ran 43.18 WR and "only" did a 42.94 relay time. probably shouldve ran a 42.5 relay leg?- not sure about that..relay legs are hit and miss. many times MJ ran 43.0-43.5 as his relay leg and he was a 43.5-44.0 runner. so i'd say 0.5 is about the difference. that'd put usain at around 44.1 form right now. To beat MJ's 400m WR is not going to be easy..even for Usain.
