to be honest this movie was eh at best since it switches a lot of things around as well as changes up some of the characters (i.e. Cammy being a good guy right off the back, Ryu and Ken being more side characters, if my memorey surves right i think Balrog is helping chun-li when he's a bad guy in the games.) when i saw it i was alright in comparison to the Legend of Chun Li but the only reason i would watch it now is because i like street fighter and not becasue its adaption of the games.

The fact it's Street Fighter alone doesn't exactly scream "Oscar nominee", at least to me. It's meant to be fun, entertaining and just all around enjoyable. Not every single film has to be shitty and overrated like The Dark Knight.

Street Fighter was originally supposed to be Oscar worthy Universal Pictures spent a Multi-Billion dollar fortune on Street Fighter: The Movie to receive an enormous Box Office breakthrough salary. They hired bad writers, bad producers and Steven E. DeSouza although, a good screenwriter didn't farry well with directing Street Fighter. The 1994 film, did however receive a Saturn Award Nomination from actor, Raul Julia who played, an outstanding role of General M. Bison.

I thought it was about right since nothing Capcom does can be taken serious anyway. Especially Street Fighter and its campy anime feel. Raul acted like Gen. Bison, that's for sure, but pitting him against a body builder like Van Damme? They should have gotten someone else but I was content.

No Raul Julia was the man for M. Bison no other actor I can think of, would have pulled off the creative mastermind of General M. Bison like Raul Julia. Steven E. DeSouza I bet saw Raul Julia's performance in The Addams Family series and thought, he would be perfect for General. M. Bison and I saw him for the first time in 1994's "Street Fighter" film, as M. Bison and thought he was perfect. Jean-Claude Van Damme isn't a body builder like, Arnold Schwarzeneggar who was bigger.

Even you have to admit that. It's like saying Johnny Depp could be Wolverine because he's a good actor; no. Raul was a great actor, he owned the role, but as far as the fighting goes he fell short. Why? Because Raul Julia's not a martial artist lol. And Van Damme was still bigger than Raul in physical muscle.

Raul Julia was sick with stomach cancer and he couldn't perform at his full level against Jean-Claude Van Damme on set. Raul did his own stunts the swinging scene, and flying across the security monitoring room set was all Raul. The martial arts choreography Van Damme has history on that and yes, he did dominate Raul Julia in the fight scene not just portraying good and evil against each other but, Raul is not a professional martial artist like JCVD. Yes, the last comment I agreee.

Jean-Claude Van Damme is called, "The Muscles From Brussel's because, of his large muscular tone body Van Damme is between 5'10 and 6'0 feet tall. Raul Julia before his cancer took over in 1992 in an interview looked about 250 to 275 around 300. Raul Julia is about 6'2 he's pretty tall for an actor, from Puerto Rico now deceased but, he was trully a talent and gift from God to us. Jean-Claude Van Damme is also, a blessing his role as Colonel Guile and Chris Dubois were his best.

They, both wanted a Christmas present and Jean-Claude Van Damme was casted, as Colonel Guile M. Bison's archenemy. Raul Julia actually, could fight but, not at the potential he needed against Jean-Claude Van Damme. Raul Julia did martial arts choreography with JCVD and his stunt double behind the scenes.

Two years ago, before "Street Fighter" came out Pyro665 Raul Julia was his normal size and in an interview he was alot bigger than Van Damme because, he is taller than him. I am happy that you grew up in the 80's watching Van Damme's films so have I my man. I have also, watched Raul Julia's films Do, you remember Addams Family?

I have always been a huge fan of the Street Fighter series in video games. But it was horrible. The story is all twisted I mean, in the video game, Ryu is the most important character and in the movie it is hardly seen. Cammy is a creation of Bison, so she is part of the bad guys, while in the movie she is friend of Guile. A lot of intentional mistakes were made in order to transform what could be a good story into a useless-action-movie.

Raul Julia was and always will be the best live action M. Bison for me. I haven't seen the Legend of Chun-Li, but from what friends of mine say when they knew I wanted to see Bison in action on the big screen again, the new one doesn't cut it well.
