  • Gavin Harrison :D <3

je viens de passer 2 jours avec lui à montlucon :D

  • I'm so tripping to this song man

  • I still can't figure out the time signature.

  • @bnanacheese2 ahaha is the first problem for everyone...but..the song is in 4\4...:) it's a rhythmic illusion of the accents on the time...:) try count the time ,starting from the first quarter...and you'll see that the song is in 4\4...strange 4\4...sorry if my english is not perfect :D

  • @Calabrone92 yeah this guy is right. the time sig despite despite being in 4.4 is so complex, gavin harrison is a boss.

  • like if you came here for piekana piekana tön tön tön

  • Speed has been augmented.

  • This video reminds me of all the stories I hear about being friend-zoned lol

  • A little step away from classic Porcupine Tree songs. Well done.

  • Im not quite following the plot.

  • @PennyDreadful1 In a world where faceless automatons enslave one another for their color coded life essence/maskara... a protagonist of some kind finds his newfound love has betrayed his trust and now seeks to contain the blue shit that keeps escaping his hand and chest... now he must fight alone against the female figure's soul-sucking injustice... coming this summer. Yea.

  • @ryuhans Why isnt that a top comment?

  • @PennyDreadful1 agreed

  • oh my god !!!! fucking epic song !!!!!

  • Great Song....

  • 3:07 WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HERE WE GOOOOOO

  • Here's a thought.. Porcupine Tree, Opeth and Dream Theater are all on Roadrunner at the moment. They need to put together a tour with those 3 bands. That would be progressive. Not to mention amazing.

  • @organicate that would be awesome but personally id rather just hear more pt songs

  • 3:07 love that bass riff!

  • reminds me that gold robot of star wars xD

  • swear the pitch is higher than the album version...

  • @Kapper2310 It is. It's slightly shifted & sped up.

  • total new era of music

  • This is an entirely Tool-shaped video.

  • why in the music video version the song is faster? o.O

  • 3.49

DJENT DJENT DJENT DJENT DJENT DJENT DJENT DJENT

  • Reminds me of the their early years

  • @Pryce2112 It shouldn't, their early years were more like 'Stop Swimming.' This is a way more modern take.

  • @Ecrusix it's kind of true, but the production quality and variety of sound makes up for it.

  • does anybody know who made this video?

  • Porcupine Tree, the greatest band you've never heard of.

  • Nice video, been a fan four 2 years glad to listen them online.they deliver good music

  • Why would an official upload be pitched up...don't think it'd run any risk of being taken down

  • I know.

    What.

    Will be.

  • Connie the Bat

  • I love this song but does it remind anyone else of Knight Rider? Just try singing the melody from the theme music over it when the drums vocals and bass come in.

  • It's incredible!

  • C3PO?

  • Musically, Porcupine Tree is right up there with King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Yes, EL&P, Tool, and Rush. Lyrically, they are great --- better than 99.953% of the bands to ever exist ---- but not quite the caliber of the other progressive rock greats.

  • Sounds great in surround. I actually didnt like the song before I heard it in surround.

  • Really experimental,...

  • The tempo and pitch seems to be a bit faster and higher

  • More like Hipster Tree - Bonnie the Hipster

  • @nablah faggot

  • This is by far one of my favorite songs from PT!

  • This sounds a lot faster than how it is on the album. The album version is much better!

  • wooohhh!!!!! that's what i'm talking abou! Gorillaz Rhinestone eyes with a mixture of kids with guns.

  • album sounds a lot cooler than this..i mean the tempo..

  • This song is so simply complex. I bet it's pretty boring to the average Nickleback listener, but to people like me it's actually pretty exciting. The drumming...

  • sounds like tool and rob zombie

  • those 6 people have issues, those 372 are the best people in the world.

  • There are 3 things that I would die for:

    1. Every Porcupine tree album on vinyl.

    2. A Top-Of-The-Line record player and stereo system.

    3. The biggest stash of marijuana anyone has ever had.

    =)

  • @Fleshy91 But how could you be able to enjoy it if you died for it? :o

  • @Fleshy91 You could save plenty of money buy not buying vinyl and getting a DVD-A player.

  • @Arglactable I already have one. You're missing the point...

  • @Fleshy91 Oh, not at all. I just think the point is dumb. DVD-A > Vinyl.

  • @Fleshy91 I would love to see a Laser Light show in a planetarium to any of Porcupine Tree's albums (The best one, given the setting, would probably be Sky Moves Sideways)

  • @Fleshy91

You sir know what life is about and I agree with all 3 :)

  • @Fleshy91 I love you, because of this comment. Haha. And now I want these 3 things.

  • Anybody else noticed the similarity between the riff at 3:50 and the solo riff of Opeth's The Grand Conjuration?

  • This sounds faster...

  • @thierryman Wow, you're right! Listen to the album version, and then this version. This is like 1.3 times faster.

  • awesome..just awesome

  • This is the only PT song that I don't like

it doesn't sound like Porcupine Tree at all

  • Since when does Porcupine Tree have to restrain itself to one sound?

  • @gogolplex74 Say what???? Everything about this song is PT.

  • Thumbs up if you listen to this when you're high.

  • I dunno if anyone mentioned this, but it sounds like its about a half step, or even a quarter step sharp from the record. Youtube encoding?

  • How did I know some twat would say that this looks like a Tool video?

  • génial!! excellent.

  • Adam Jones colaborated with Lasse Hoile to made this video?

  • about 4bpm faster?

  • this is better them drugs... dwghdugebwhufkedehwu

  • 3- Porcupine Tree-Bonnie the cat

    2-Sleeping Giant-Mastodon

    1-Tool-Schism

top 3 weirdest music videos IMO

  • @NilReccuring Look up "Helpless Corpses Enactment" and "A Hymn to the Morning Star" by Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. You will shit a brick.

  • How could SIX douchebags really dislike this song? Are you fucking kidding me?

  • @usmcsdi69 JB fans

    that is all

  • Some nice drumming on this track

  • Too bad this version is sped up

  • Love this video kind of reminds me of Tools videos XD

  • I like this song, but I'm not a big fan of this video. I feel like it was lazily inspired by Tool, and that if the video actually kept up with the music in amplitude and experience, maybe it could have been cool. I blame Roadrunner.

  • I recognize this kind of artwork from the backdrop but who did it?? I can't remember...

  • I assume this is about a man taking his cat to be put to sleep, the man knowing what is about to happen...the cat going along not knowing its its last moments on earth are shortl to arrive..

  • It's not a bad thing that this video is similar to a Tool video. In fact, the world needs more videos like this. It's much more engrossing and you get enveloped in the vibe of the music.

This song is totally badass, by the way. Amazing drum rhythm and the arabian scale bit is icing on the cake.

  • WTF is Porcupine Tree doing man.... they used to write such catchy and complicated tunes and now all SW is worried about is making a ton of industry noise. It makes me sad, I really thought they hit their stride with "In Absentia" and "Deadwing". Their last two albums have been a dissapointment considering they were made by Porcupine Tree :(

  • @KoreyKu You obviously have no appreciation of how complex the drum beat is and the amazing layering that Steve Wilson has done for this song. You also obviously don't compose interesting music yourself.

  • @jammoose A hundred percent agreed.

  • @jammoose I totally appreciate that. Who else but Gavin Harrison can make 4/4 so hard for your brain to follow? What I'm saying is that this music is faaaarrr less pleasing and accessable then their previous work. For this industry noise stuff, I find myself really working at staying involved in the song because he is not really using interesting music composition and at the basest level of the song he's really not even writing interesting music. And on top, vocals are lazy and uninteresting

  • @KoreyKu So what if it is in 4/4 some of the most complicated drum grooves are in 4/4, take meshuggah for example, Tom Haake is amazing at making complicated drum grooves in 4/4 making emphasis on odd beats of the bar such as 1/3; the time signature does not indicate complexity. The point is when I say its complicated, I was originally simplifying my comment for you, so don't try and outsmart me with basic music theory. Anyway; I dont even like Porcupine Tree that much, but I can appreciate this

  • @jammoose Why bother replying if you're not going to make your argument relevant?

  • @jammoose I understand and agree with what you are saying but I think you have made a mistake, accenting 1 and 3 in a 4/4 bar is very common in fact it is what is always done for the most part.

Anyway, there is some really great drumming on this track and on every porcupine tree song. Gavin Harrison adds so much creativity to the band.

  • @KoreyKu I like Fear of a Blank Planet :( I get what you're saying, but I kind of feel like KoreyKu has a point in that this song and some of more recent Porcupine Tree has taken a turn (I think for the better, in that I'm not a fan of bands recycling old music) to focus on a more complicated metal (probably Opeth inspired) aspect. When I heard songs on The Incident like Circle of Manias and Octane Twisted, I jizzed my pants. PT remains the epitome of everything I like about music.

  • @Linixion I get Octane Twisted but nothing interesting really happened in Circle of Manias. I guess I prefer recycled transcedental melodiosity to repetetive chugga chugga riffs that go nowhere. I dont particurarly like Tool. Atleast Opeth got those elegant complicated riffs that they tie together into the tracks of theirs but it gets really predictable and repetetive in the end. PT usually knows how to write proper songs. Damnit Im ranting

  • @PennyDreadful1 Yeah I get what you're saying, and that's cool. Not everyone's brain resonates on the same level, or perceives the same thing in the music they listen to. Some songs I get tired of while I'm driving in a car, but if I chill out and listen in headphones I think it's amazing, there are many factors to listening to music.

  • @Linixion I really get what you are saying there!

  • would people be offended if I said this reminds me atiny bit of TOOL?

  • why did they speed up the song? why is the pitch higher than the original? And the video... Tool much?

    I like mine better :P

  • i want this band on Argentina!!

  • 6 ppl will never know what will be

  • i love how wierd wilson and crew are....it makes me smile.

  • PIEKANA PIEKANA TÖN TÖN TÖN 3:58

  • The video is kind of tool inspired. I'm not saying PT is a rip off of tool either, but the video seems to have inspiration from tool videos. Prison sex meets parabola sort of.

  • @revolutionarybaby what you say about the style of the video is true regarding the resemblence with tool videos, but both bands have clear paths and very solid sounds. either way they both amazing and lately specially Porcupine tree have doing great stuff

  • @smartj3 I agree.

  • why did they speed it up a tick?

  • Wish I could give it 2 thumbs up.

  • this isnt one of their best songs as mamy have said but it's still better than 99% of modern rock radio and a damn good song in their own right. and seriously this is most mindblowing cuz it shows their versatility! and sounds insane live. okay its still pretty damn good to say the least and its on their freakin bonus disc

  • so GOOD!!!!! PT

  • why is this video not in HD.... what a shame

  • @4look4rd who cares?music itself is quality.no good for you?get off!!

  • @Jonnyjy Yes the music is good, but the video is really interesting and would look amazing in HD..

  • @4look4rd ok your right..sorry about bein rude from my part but when i see commentarys like that in a PT video...s like:WHO CARES?? : )

  • anybody notice that the part 3.49 - 4.23 is kinda like the part 1.56 - 2.16 from opeth's song The grand conjuration.

  • @Mochello yes its similar, but who cares... it's not like opeth will sue PT for that, and i surely wont give less credit to this whole composition due to that fragment of seconds..

  • @BergkampPT no im not saying that. i just found it interesting.

  • @Mochello And remember that Steven Wilson produced Ghost Reveries, so no doubt its an intentional influence...Mikael and Steven are best friends so neither are gonna mind...just two fantastic songs :D

  • @WeirdMan12344321 sorry to say but Steven DID NOT produce Ghost Reveries. Roadrunner's in-house producers did so along with Mikael Akerfeldt and Opeth.

  • @toolfan92 Oh how silly of me, BWP, Damnation and Deliverance XD But as they were all before Ghost Reveries its easy to see how they have given each other influences subsequently

  • @WeirdMan12344321 You forgot Blackwater Park

  • @Mochello Yeah i noticed that the first time i listened to this song when the album came out... there are many things in both Opeth and Porcupine Tree that you can tell were obvious influences of each other, lyrically too. Pretty awesome i think!

  • 25,000+ views? Compared to Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber? This only proves how much of a terrible sense of taste in music people have.

  • omg tool ? :O O_O PT fucking rules!

  • It is not only higher in pitch, but faster. WTF???

  • Machinarium 2040

  • the opening music made me think," Welcome to Silent Hill"

  • Gavin Harrison just fucks this song up... in a good way :P

  • Anyone else notice this is actually transposed up a half-step? O.o

Not the same key it's in on the album...

  • @Stev0BabaGhanoush yea i noticed it, must be because they shortened the vid slightly for youtube!

    Now it's in G lol

  • 3...how??HOWW???

  • this is quite sexual...i like

  • 3 ppl don't know what will be!

  • oh , just noticed savagedutchmans comment , not just me then lol , great track despite this mind you .

  • is it me , or does the bassline on this track sound like the knightrider theme tune???????????????????????????

  • Looks like a Tool video

  • @sizzlor108 Sounds like a Tool song, even.

  • 3:49 = Opeth's "Grand Conjuration"

  • what the hell

  • This song is fucking nuts! In a good way, of course

  • The bass line of this song allways remember me of the Knight Rider theme song.

  • is this song at a faster tempo?

  • @xSLAYER2x I think it's pitched slightly higher.

  • @platinumdynamite yea i noticed that too....and it sounds sped up a little

it doesnt make it as dark :/

  • @xSLAYER2x noticed the same. It's faster than in the album.

  • knight rider!

  • I wonder if Adam Jones helped produce this. it looks great.

  • @TheAthesis No it was Lasse Hoile (an institution), check him out here in youtube

  • There is something odd about the video. I think it's kinda accelerated???

The bonnie the Cat I know is darker than this

  • 3:50 is so awesome

  • I had only heard Time Flies before this, and wow...this song is just something else. I'm a Porcupine Tree fan now

  • I had only heard Time Flies before this, and wow...this song is just something else. I'm a Porcupine Tree fan now

  • @TempestDacine check out their song called "Lips of Ashes"

  • @TempestDacine welcome to a more amazing life

  • I know what will be, because I know the pieces fit.

  • Some bands just stand out, I have a feeling this is one of them. Holy shit, from 3:09 onward it gets fucking crazy! I think I just found my third favorite band next to T00L and Katatonia.

  • Some bands just stand out, I have a feeling this is one of them. Holy shit, from 3:09 onward it gets fucking crazy!

  • 4:45...is that... is that A VAGINA?

  • Oh cool! Steven Wilson likes Meshuggah.

    Take a break, SW.

  • Justin Bieber and Lady GaGa dislike quality..

  • Great job on making The Grand Conjuration riff sound bad.

  • @Jakedunc hahaha just noticed it)) but it doesn't sound but unless you worship Grand Conjuration every day (a good song btw) :)
