(cont) - FInal note. To reach expert status, you MUST count suits. Lets play a hypothetical game. We are South (*) with 2c in hand. Suit Order for count is (c,d,s,h):
1. 2c*,Ac,Qc, 4c (count is 4, 0, 0, 0)...East is short in clubs (or running)
2. Js,7s,9s,Ks* (count is 4, 0, 4, 0)....looks like W doesnt have Qs (glad we passed Ac left)
3. 8s*,4s,Ad,As (count is 4, 1, 7, 0)...East HAS Qs. North is vuln in dimes. East lead will tell a lot.
(cont) At the highest level (everyone is a master), you do NOT have to worry about Qs unless low has it - in which case you jam them and allow those who are long in spades to take control (order in which you play the spades). Expert players identify where the Qs is early and then figure out what suit Low is long in and attempt to 'set them up' in that suit. This is where much of the talent comes in to play. If you cant do it yourself, DONT TAKE THE LEAD. Allow someone else who CAN do it.
(cont) I could write 10 pages of additional strategy, but here are some additional briefs:
1. Never pass AsKs to right when passing Qs (unless they NEED backers)
2. Pass Ac to left whenever possible
3. DO NOT PLAY Qs indiscriminately (w8 as long as possible to hit Lowman)
4. Identify EARLY who has Qs by playing spades. You dont need to play more than two rounds to figure this out. Pass direction is usually a clue. If low isnt playing them, he either has it or is short in spades w As or Ks
At 0:58 seconds.............why would'nt you throw out the 8? Your diamonds are well protected by 2, 4, 5. If anything that 8 of clubs is potentially costing you a point or 2 IMO.
Beyond that, Hearts can be played at many skill levels
1. Beginner - No regard to current scores (DUCK & DUMP)
2. Advanced - Count EVERY SUIT (this is imperative & is easy to master). Go for low at all cost. Identify EARLY who is attempting moon. Identify hand dist. by what your opponents play and DO NOT play. Be a martyr if necessary (to save game). Pass responsibly (cover). Know when u want the lead and play to those who NEED lead!
first of all thereason, there's no reason to be that much of a douche bag, yeah you're suppose to throw away you're highest hearts card, it's common sense
"covering" is a tactic where you dont throw your highest hearts card because you think someone is "shooting the moon" which means theyre tryign to collect all the points. you dont throw your highest heart card so that you can prevent them from doing so.
you fucking suck at hearts. dont dump your highest heart. learn to cover. playing like a ducker will get you a few wins until someone shoots and gives you back all those points you ducked. shitty tutorial.
