He actually scored some good wins over other jobbers. He used to clobber this guy named Fred Marzino constantly, and Marzino could actually be tagged as a jobber to Doherty. And, of course, he scored memorable (fluke) wins over Lanny Poffo and even King Kong Bundy.
@ligreekguy Wow, someone else besides me heard of Fred Marzino. Marzino was a WWF fixture. He got squashed in every single match. Is Marzino still alive and kickin anywhere?
Hey there! I believe Marzino is still around, and I do know that he was a Boston area resident, which is why so many of his matches took place only in Boston and other areas of New England and the Northeast. (I really do not think he wrestled anywhere outside the region). This poor guy actually jobbed to other jobbers. Johnny Rodz, Jose Estrada and Jose Luis Rivera used to bat him around a lot, and he also lost to Steve King, Jerry Johnston, Angelo Gomez, Don Serrano, and so on.
If I had to say where he was probably living, likely in the Boston area. Oh, another guy who scored multiple wins over him was none other than Butcher Vachon. But Marzino appeared to be, at least for fans in the Boston area, the personal jobber to Doherty since both were local natives.
I wish I did, I have been searching high and low, though I have not yet searched on line all that much for people selling DVDs with him on them. There is only one video on line showing Marzino, and that is against George "The Animal" Steele. I never enjoyed watching Steele, so that match is not very interesting. I actually prefer seeing jobber heels destroy jobber faces, which is why Marzino against Rodz, Estrada, Charlie Fulton, etc. would be great because even THEY won so easily
@ligreekguy Another jobber from Boston who used to get destoyed in every single match was Rudy Diamond. Boston had two of the best jobbers of all time, Marzino and Rudy Diamond.
There are videos showing Diamond losing to Greg Valentine (You Tube) and to another jobber, Mister X (Danny Davis in disguise) which is actually on Diamond's own My Space site! (But if you Google Rudy Diamond vs. Mister X, it will probably come up automatically). Diamond also lost a lot to Rene Goulet, and he even lost to Tony Colon! (I think this was the only match Colon is on record as having won).
<-Southern NH here..I grew up in East Boston MA used to see pete wrestle in the old the match I remember the most was petes last one with king kong bundy..One of teh most funny ones ive seen..He did teh classic got hit ran in circles fallin out of teh ring over the top rope with ppl were slappin him on teh back and chanting pete.pete pete..classic with his 3 teeth and goofy expessions..ppl brought signs and a few with sheets that said "The duke kicks ass!!"God Bless ya pete We miss ya man.
Pete Doherty was one of the greatest "jobbers" in the history of this great sport. I thoroughly enjoyed him every time he wrestled. Does anyone have the match between him and the late Bad News Brown? Hilarious match-up. The Duke couldn't overpower Bad News, so he started biting him, everywhere he could. Hilarious!!!!
Believe it or not, Pete Doherty has a pinfall victory over Haku. He beat him on July 14, 1990 in Boston when Doherty lifted his shoulder while both men had their shoulders down following a suplex into a bridge.
I know of the victory over Poffo; he talked about it being his "final" match. The victory over Bundy must have happened in the Indies as his only WWF match versus Bundy actually saw him lose by DQ when Doherty attacked KKB with a chair.
I see. He did win a Bunkhouse Battle Royal according to The History of The WWE but none of the participants were listed. So, I'll assume Bundy and Doherty were the last two participants and Doherty managed to eliminate KKB for the upset here.
Boy, you're right. He is brutal. Sadly, Mike McGuirk isn't very good with her heavy Southern accent, either. She's a great ring announcer and classy lady but terrible commentator. How David Crockett "beat" out these two for The Wrestling Observer's worst commentator of the year award from 1986-88 is beyond me. I'd rather listen to other winners like 1989's Ed Whalen and 1990's Herb Abrams over Pete and Mike.
I wish the Duke would stop wrestling and get on the mic...well, maybe not.

Duke bears a striking resemblance to the late Bobby Duncum, the father not the son.

Pete Doherty once said he would retire from wrestling the moment he actually won a match. He had a prettly long career.

No, not that I know of, and a warning on the My Space for Diamond, I really do not think it has been updated in quite awhile.

I'd rather see Pete Doherty wrestle than do commentary. Doherty's voice is attrocious!

Agreed. The Duke was an aweful commentator, one of the worst the WWF ever had, but he was an entertaining wrestler.

I've yet to hear Pete Doherty commentate during a match. I would like to hear for myself.

No you don't. Trust me it is NOT pretty.
