  • "Must be important for you to wait after dark."

    Ummm...

  • Yes! The entrance of Vincent Price! Huzzah!

  • One of the highlights of this movie was the beautiful theme song, heard at the beginning of this clip.

During the 80's and 90's, when this movie was shown on tv, it was replaced in the film by some wierd funky music. Great to see that the original soundtrack was restored in the release.

  • Yes let me put your niece to bed where ill sodomize her ho ho!

  • @Meadey711

You know you have a point, maybe he did do her up the arse, I bet contraception was hard to come by in those days. I doubt he'd want to make a good mother out of her just yet.

  • nip splip on youtube!

  • Burn the witch, aye ... wi' yer black hat 'nd yer broomstick.

  • The real Hopkins was much younger; probably only his mid 20s

  • Never seen this movie before, but already I've a nasty premonition that Sarah will be charged a witch.

Hearing Vincent Price's high-pitched whiny american accent was pretty funny! Sounded like he had a nose full of snot.

  • The music is gloriously beautiful...very tasteful and lovely. A huge cry from the trash on the screen today.

  • @flyinstew I concur, though film music shouldn't just strive to be 'tasteful and lovely''. Even a great deal of this score is dissonant and unsettling.

  • what a tasteful sex scene...

  • "Up for stargazing?" What, at four in the afternoon?!

Ye gods, do I hate day-for-night shooting...

  • how hard could it possibly have been to just shoot that scene at night :/

  • @Marrikable Not impossible to shoot at night back then, but almost. The film stock tech wasn't good enough to shoot at night without doing it in a studio or with tons of lights. You could do that scene with some brutes behind trees to silhouette them and give the actors torches and light their faces with some 1k lights. Fire alone couldn't light a scene back then like you can do now. This was a B-movie, so they didn't have the budget to light that scene. But they could've been smarter about it.

  • Hopkins went to the US after the end of the Civil War with part of the emmigration after the Pilgrim Fathers as legend would have it.

    Died in the US.

  • @ianwoodland61 but then that would mean is would be over 200 years old O_o

  • Im talking history not the film, numbnuts!!

  • @ianwoodland61 yeah hopkins was alive in the 1600s lol he never came to the us

  • An exciting film. It lacks historical accuracy though. For example Hopkins died in his late twentys of consumption.

  • @ukchristian28 Yea but its more fun this way in the film and I read that he took hisown witch test and failed

  • @mity15,

That is a nice thought. That would be poetic justice at its finest. Unfortunately though there is absolutely no evidence that that happened. Most historians think he died of consumption. His assistant Sterne testified to that.

I agree it is a really good piece as a film.

  • Great movie I love this film
