While all of you are saying "What if he fires as soon as he gets it?" or "Don't stand IN FRONT of him" ... this Martial Art was designed for Secret Service and not for you people who are stuck behind a computer telling these guys how to defend themselves from a shotgun... above all else... what is YOUR technique for combating a person with a shotgun?
@DonkeyZack This kind of technique is meant to relieve the psychological distress of troops. Noone will disarm a shotgun or a pistol pointed to their head. Just accepting you're gonna die is not the right mindset for a fighter tough, so they teach those fantasy techniques.
this teacher obviously doesn't know much about a shotgun and i am starting to believe he has never shot one if you were to push the gun to the right like that and he pulled the trigger which in real life he would you would still be shot in fact more than likely dead so its best to either buy a shotgun yourself or listen to what the guy with the shotgun says that simple in fact having a gun is better when it comes to life and death stuff but if you know your going to die anyways go for it
i know it can be done but i'm sure that the fear of having a SHOTGUN pointed at you is going to be pretty high , i mean have you seen the damage it can do?!
@tywainwright1 well yes but you just have to be careful when trying to grab a gun because alot of times when you actually get in that situation you don't think about all that disarming. but i know it can be done
@Kane16802 When you train enough it becomes muscle memory, as a matter of fact many muggers get seriously hurt even when the victim would rather give up their money because the victim is so trianed to disarm the mugger that they do it without even thinking of it.
@Kane16802 Not if I had intensive firearm defense and disarming training. Its not something you think about when you're trained to disarm someone, its instinct you just do it without thinking many times a trained mugging victim won't even remember taking the gun because he's so used to it and it happens so fast.
@Intoxiqated easy to say now, LET IT ACTUALLY HAPPEN it's A LOT different than sitting here telling me "oh with training i can do this and that" people like that that think they are hot shit don't know, in reality it's a lot different then just saying it
This video is getting a lot of dislikes. The comments are talking about how this will never happen in the first place.
Not every situation is avoidable, if someone decides to shoot me with a shotgun from 10 feet away there is nothing I can do about it, therefore there is nothing you could teach me to do, what you can teach me is how to deal with a situation where there is an option, like them being 2 feet away. That's what this is. If it even agave me a 1% chance, it would be worth it.
#1 if he fires as soon as you grip, you may lose your hand, 2# if he fires as you redirect, your incredibly close to the shotgun's range, meaning the barrel will heat up, and the flash of the shotgun, plus the sound, may make you disoriented. #3 He might let go, and try to defend himself turning the situation into a struggle. And Finally! #4 WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU MESS WITH SOMEONE WITH A SHOTGUN!
@Sabre809 for #4.. u dont have to start messing with someone who has a shotgun to be in that situation.. a random jack ass can just come up to u and start pointing a shot gun that close and try to steal or something....
@Sabre809 Most people don't grab the barrel of an attacker's gun, so if someone does grab your gun's barrel, you will pause for JUST a moment in surprise. And in that ONE second, you will lose your gun.
@LavaTalon73 I understand video's like these deal with a lot of skeptisism, and the real world has a lot of what if's, yes some people would be shocked at the sudden bravery, while the nervous might flintch, and pull the trigger, anything could happen I know.
@Sabre809 Better to go down fighting. Though in all honesty, you're right. If I end up being pitted against someone with a shotgun I'd probably have a gun myself, or i'd deserve to get shot because the only people I know of who carry right-off-the-line pump action shotguns are police, military, hunters, and clerks.
@holysoks1 Its just a comment mate, and yes I would defend myself if a shotgun wielding assailant attacked me. And if by a divine miracle I survived, I would need an immediate change of pants, and underwear.
i had to dislike this out of principle. if you try this with a shotgun pointed out you, you're dead. whatever dumbass is within reach of you with a shotgun deserves to have this karate shit used on them though.
@GemsOnVHS Spoken like someone with no realistic idea of reaction speed vs. movement speed. The police have their "21 foot rule," and here especially it's easily applicable. If someone is sticking a gun in your face, they're trying to intimidate you, not to kill you. If you react in a way they don't expect, they have to cope with surprise (recoil) added to reaction (pull trigger). Grand total at least 0.7 seconds. Plenty of time to sweep the gun out of the way. Your principles are lacking.
I can see none of u realy do marcial arts. krav maga is not a type of marcial arts form that takes long to learn. if u look again u will see its all about fokus, oppertunity and speed

"There's not a whole lot anyone can do in that situation." which "that" are you talking about? the one in the video because they just showed you that it is possible to do something. Or, where you talking about the long rang situation? Well, then your right there is nothing to do about that.
@TheBigBadBird I have seen someone run away from a shotgun and the shots were missing. Bad shooter though. If you are ever running from "something" do not run in a straight line down a sidewalk or a road. Run sideways across backyards and stuff evading and using cover to conceal where you are, but never stopping. If someone is shooting at you with a gun you gotta evade not run. Use cover whilst running in combination.
@chivenyc Action is faster than reaction. This simple law of physics makes these things possible anytime the gun comes within arm's reach. Watch the fight science where they had their gun hooked up to a computer and told gunmen pull the trigger at the first sign of movement. There were ZERO trigger pulls. The disarmer grabbed the gun and moved it in .12 seconds and it takes the brain .25 seconds to register movement and send signal to pull the trigger.
its dangerous putting this on youtube. If you have any chance of pulling this off you need hours of training with instructors. Theres a decent chance a person who is holding you up wont kill you (if robbery is the objective). But doing this without lots of training will escalate the situation and certainly end with you having no head.
best thing to do is always do what the guy with the gun says bc nothing is worth losing your life over. but if all the person want is hurting you or your love ones, then these techniques shifts chances in your favor. it won't guarantee you won't get shot at or killed. just gives you a fighting chance in a life/death situation.
@drjqool agree, you should only use this techniques if the person pointing and just wants to hurt you, this would prove to be effective, but if the person only wants your wallet you should do as he says
THIS IS BULLSHIT too many movies..... no one with any kind of firearm would get too close to the target... fire arms were made to shoot from a distance not point Blank..... stupid movies and stupid karate kids trying to do the impossible. i wonder how many have died thinking Oh i can disarm this guy who's got a gun or a SHOTTY to my face GOOD LUCK withthat!
@gusto1978 you really do deserve a medal. im getting really sick of these dumbasses on youtube thinking they are superman, im pretty sure the slightest sight of movement is gonna make the guy shoot the shit outta ur face, or the back of ur head for tryin this shit
@XSaukratesX im not saying it hasnt happened that a person could dissarm another but yeah i had to writte that because people are getting outta hand,.... fantasy is coming to reality and fools are getting hurt so dude where's my medal... ;? lol
@gusto1978 actually, there are dumb people who get that close, and normally the technique would work better on them because they dont know what are they doing, and being at point blank it would be easier to get out of the line of fire, but yeah, even if you are an expert you should only use this when theres no option
Man Krav Maga is a joke.My friend has been taking classes for 5 yrs.and he still gets his ass kicked. Krav Maga will never be like Kenpo.I only come with empty hands these are my weapons
Doesn't work in real life. The guy has the finger on the trigger and squeezing it. Any startling large movement (few feet of travel) will easily trigger his almost involuntary reaction of shooting and just a few millimeters of finger move will trigger the shot. In real comando schools they teach you to never get into close combat, just shoot before the guy gets too close, but all this shmucks want you to believe otherwise.
@EngineeringFun Its not entirely useless, if the gunmans distracted, and if you can assume the "hands up+shaking victim" u can easily get both hands near the barrel without alerting the gunman, giving you a pretty good chance. But people do play it up too big, they want you to think you'll be a commando after learning it. Most of it is bs marketing, but some of it does work.
@jayw65 I do agree that it's valuable but for people who are extremely well trained (hundreds of hours of practice) not just by watching a video. The problem is that these videos make it look so easy and guaranteed. In a critical situation when you don't have a gun any more this can make all the difference in the world.
@EODEngineerSadornas i agree with you and practice this kinda self defense, but try to beat a man with a shot gun would be, really, the last thing that i would do
@EODEngineerSadornas actually the do, it differs slightly from state to state, but open carry of both pistols and shotguns/assault rifles are generally legal, except for certain civic areas, and basically the entire D.C. area. Less bureaucracy is involved acquiring a shotgun since it doesn't need to be registered as opposed to hand guns. To carry a shotgun concealed however, like under a coat, is definitely illegal. But open carry, not so.
@EODEngineerSadornas I know it sounds scary if you're not used to it, but I've been working at a military base now for a while, and I took a gun safety course, and it's like with most everything else. If you know how it works, the fear disappears and it feels normal after a while. There's the notion that if people have guns, bullets will automatically fly around you. Haha. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nobody wants to die, and if everyone is armed, people get really really polite :)
@bellcurve2 U sound like a fucking idiot, no one wants to die no matter what religion you are, im a roman catholic and i would fight for my life in a second im not just gonna lay down and die when there is a chance i could live. You just sound like a pathetic loser who was proabably one of those retards who thought the rapture was going to happen. Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists they would all fight for there right to live ur just a religous ignorant moutherfucker.
-The gunman being distracted, giving opportunity to utilize these tactics?
-The gunman being caught unawares, if this is a law-enforcement or CT scenario (the origin of Krav)?
-The fact that it's better to have a half chance than no chance at all?
It continually cracks me up that people are so quick to put down Krav, silat, etc. for the sake of looking smart. No shit there's a good chance that you'll be shot. IT'S A GUN. Better this than no plan.
@bflyte yeah but you got to admit some of the krav maga is more dangerous than other systems. like the crossed arms to defend against a knife, works well in practice and may work in reality with decades of training but putting your forearms near a blade in that way is just asking to be cut. And in a way i would prefer to have no training, if i saw some1 with a knife before i did MA's i would leg it, now i might think i can take him, best defence is to submit, rather lose my wallet than my life
@bflyte I agree with you there. I would rather die fighting than just accept my fate. You gotta try, hopefully if you are quick enough you might make it out alive at least.
@bflyte my plan is put my fingers in the barrel, i saw it in a bugs bunny cartoon, :P in all seriousness you made a valid point there i'd at least want to have some form of plan rather than stand there like a bitch, the chance is you could get shot but at least you could get away. just depends on the situation i think its the s.a.s. that say the first rule is to survive!
@AmokBR For civilian application agreed. However, as mentioned the origins of Krav Maga rest in law-enforcement/military/counterterrorism applications, where that sometimes is not an option. It's certainly not a great idea to martially resist, but in certain circumstances--few to none of which are found in civilian life--this is the best plan.
@AmokBR The danger is in instructors being "macho" and telling people to risk their lives in situations that could have been defused by losing $50 and your driver's license. Learning this sort of thing is good as long as the instructor makes it super clear that someone should only do it if there's no other choice. Like bflyte said, there's always a good chance of being shot, so someone needs to decide whether their wallet is worth that gamble (it's not).
@PBL187 Most people who steal aren't murderers. The two groups don't really overlap. When they do kill someone, it's usually due to them feeling threatened. Taking action like this carries a pretty high risk of death, even if you do it correctly. If a situation can be defused by giving someone your wallet, it's absolutely a better idea than risking your life. It's still good to know things like this, just in case someone wants your life instead of your wallet.
who the fuck is just gonna walk up to you with a shotgun...?

No you wouldn't
Cadbil 5 months ago
its dangerous putting this on youtube. If you have any chance of pulling this off you need hours of training with instructors. Theres a decent chance a person who is holding you up wont kill you (if robbery is the objective). But doing this without lots of training will escalate the situation and certainly end with you having no head.

Guiga280498 6 months ago
best thing to do is always do what the guy with the gun says bc nothing is worth losing your life over. but if all the person want is hurting you or your love ones, then these techniques shifts chances in your favor. it won't guarantee you won't get shot at or killed. just gives you a fighting chance in a life/death situation.
drjqool 6 months ago
@drjqool agree, you should only use this techniques if the person pointing and just wants to hurt you, this would prove to be effective, but if the person only wants your wallet you should do as he says

JettoGospel 6 months ago
THIS IS BULLSHIT too many movies..... no one with any kind of firearm would get too close to the target... fire arms were made to shoot from a distance not point Blank..... stupid movies and stupid karate kids trying to do the impossible. i wonder how many have died thinking Oh i can disarm this guy who's got a gun or a SHOTTY to my face GOOD LUCK withthat!
gusto1978 6 months ago
@gusto1978 you really do deserve a medal. im getting really sick of these dumbasses on youtube thinking they are superman, im pretty sure the slightest sight of movement is gonna make the guy shoot the shit outta ur face, or the back of ur head for tryin this shit
XSaukratesX 6 months ago
@XSaukratesX im not saying it hasnt happened that a person could dissarm another but yeah i had to writte that because people are getting outta hand,.... fantasy is coming to reality and fools are getting hurt so dude where's my medal... ;? lol
gusto1978 6 months ago
@gusto1978 actually, there are dumb people who get that close, and normally the technique would work better on them because they dont know what are they doing, and being at point blank it would be easier to get out of the line of fire, but yeah, even if you are an expert you should only use this when theres no option

Krav works on the basic principal that action is always faster than reaction.
PaRrOtReScUeWoTr 6 months ago
Doesn't work in real life. The guy has the finger on the trigger and squeezing it. Any startling large movement (few feet of travel) will easily trigger his almost involuntary reaction of shooting and just a few millimeters of finger move will trigger the shot. In real comando schools they teach you to never get into close combat, just shoot before the guy gets too close, but all this shmucks want you to believe otherwise.
EngineeringFun 6 months ago
@EngineeringFun Its not entirely useless, if the gunmans distracted, and if you can assume the "hands up+shaking victim" u can easily get both hands near the barrel without alerting the gunman, giving you a pretty good chance. But people do play it up too big, they want you to think you'll be a commando after learning it. Most of it is bs marketing, but some of it does work.
jayw65 6 months ago
@jayw65 I do agree that it's valuable but for people who are extremely well trained (hundreds of hours of practice) not just by watching a video. The problem is that these videos make it look so easy and guaranteed. In a critical situation when you don't have a gun any more this can make all the difference in the world.

Why is there dislikes? Many people can live more if they where put into a situation like this.
EODEngineerSadornas 6 months ago
@EODEngineerSadornas however many people may die if they do it dude, no one is that perfect to do this always right. in a real situation is different
minijoinville 6 months ago
@minijoinville I know that. Just practice and you should get it right. NOT PERFECT but atleast you get yourself out of danger.
EODEngineerSadornas 6 months ago
@EODEngineerSadornas i agree with you and practice this kinda self defense, but try to beat a man with a shot gun would be, really, the last thing that i would do
minijoinville 6 months ago
@minijoinville You definatlety have a point there. But, I don't think US states allow shotguns on the streets.
EODEngineerSadornas 6 months ago
@EODEngineerSadornas actually the do, it differs slightly from state to state, but open carry of both pistols and shotguns/assault rifles are generally legal, except for certain civic areas, and basically the entire D.C. area. Less bureaucracy is involved acquiring a shotgun since it doesn't need to be registered as opposed to hand guns. To carry a shotgun concealed however, like under a coat, is definitely illegal. But open carry, not so.
befr33 6 months ago
@befr33 O_O Kinda scary.
EODEngineerSadornas 6 months ago
@EODEngineerSadornas I know it sounds scary if you're not used to it, but I've been working at a military base now for a while, and I took a gun safety course, and it's like with most everything else. If you know how it works, the fear disappears and it feels normal after a while. There's the notion that if people have guns, bullets will automatically fly around you. Haha. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nobody wants to die, and if everyone is armed, people get really really polite :)

Meixafuhellzman2 6 months ago
Have any of the naysayers considered things like
-The gunman being distracted, giving opportunity to utilize these tactics?
-The gunman being caught unawares, if this is a law-enforcement or CT scenario (the origin of Krav)?
-The fact that it's better to have a half chance than no chance at all?
It continually cracks me up that people are so quick to put down Krav, silat, etc. for the sake of looking smart. No shit there's a good chance that you'll be shot. IT'S A GUN. Better this than no plan.
bflyte 6 months ago 68
@bflyte yeah but you got to admit some of the krav maga is more dangerous than other systems. like the crossed arms to defend against a knife, works well in practice and may work in reality with decades of training but putting your forearms near a blade in that way is just asking to be cut. And in a way i would prefer to have no training, if i saw some1 with a knife before i did MA's i would leg it, now i might think i can take him, best defence is to submit, rather lose my wallet than my life
mrperson722 6 months ago
@bflyte I agree with you there. I would rather die fighting than just accept my fate. You gotta try, hopefully if you are quick enough you might make it out alive at least.
ChaosGolem 6 months ago
@bflyte Yah you would rather be prepared knowing you have a small chance then absolutely not knowing anything.
bobbysaysyo 6 months ago
@bflyte
ya know... u right, at least you dont just stand there getting shot. that just sucks.
sailor7mikepinon 6 months ago
@bflyte my plan is put my fingers in the barrel, i saw it in a bugs bunny cartoon, :P in all seriousness you made a valid point there i'd at least want to have some form of plan rather than stand there like a bitch, the chance is you could get shot but at least you could get away. just depends on the situation i think its the s.a.s. that say the first rule is to survive!
sketchbomber 5 months ago
@bflyte The better plan is just to do what the dude with a gun is asking.
AmokBR 5 months ago
@AmokBR For civilian application agreed. However, as mentioned the origins of Krav Maga rest in law-enforcement/military/counterterrorism applications, where that sometimes is not an option. It's certainly not a great idea to martially resist, but in certain circumstances--few to none of which are found in civilian life--this is the best plan.
bflyte 5 months ago
@bflyte Sure, but a lot of Krava-Maga is taught to civilians, and that is potentially dangerous.
AmokBR 5 months ago
@AmokBR You can also buy thermite at the age of 12. Knowledge is power, but rarely enough of it.
bflyte 5 months ago
@AmokBR The danger is in instructors being "macho" and telling people to risk their lives in situations that could have been defused by losing $50 and your driver's license. Learning this sort of thing is good as long as the instructor makes it super clear that someone should only do it if there's no other choice. Like bflyte said, there's always a good chance of being shot, so someone needs to decide whether their wallet is worth that gamble (it's not).

PBL187 5 months ago
@PBL187 Most people who steal aren't murderers. The two groups don't really overlap. When they do kill someone, it's usually due to them feeling threatened. Taking action like this carries a pretty high risk of death, even if you do it correctly. If a situation can be defused by giving someone your wallet, it's absolutely a better idea than risking your life. It's still good to know things like this, just in case someone wants your life instead of your wallet.
