Ask your banker what Fractional Reserve Lending is. Talk about corporate welfare~ to allow banks to issue the public's currency as interest bearing debts ~ is the absolute apex of it.
I love this guy. I agree with him 100% of his analysis, but not with his solutions. I don't trust the state enough to tackle corporatism. Since corporatism cannot survive without the massive power of gov't I see as the only way out is to pull out the gov't leg that holds up our corporatism. We as normal non-connected people could never strike at corporations using our current gov't. Electing a few more Dennis Kucinichs will not be enough. End the Fed, end the empire, free up our treasury!
i;m not saying he isn't somewhat knowledgeable or a nice guy. its just something about the way he carries himself and presents himself that puts me off. i also think he is a bit niave about the nature of this nation. he talks about conservatism being gone for a long time, but i think this is a right wing country and democrat is as far left as we are a loud to have. a mechanism for the illusion of non right wing choice.
i shouldn't have made those comments i guess. i just kind of get annoyed with people like him. the oh the poor oh the poor stuff. we really need crazy government with aggressive policy, in my opinion. he probably has nothing to say about welfare reform, which really needs to be looked at.. if i had to choose between him and ron paul for president, i would choose him though. so stfu
Chris Hedges is a true Christian, unlike the evangelcial nitwits who parade themselves in front of our media daily. "The least among us ... " as is mentioned in the Bible.
And welfare? Son? Let me teach you something: The greatest welfare given out in America is that which is given out to U.S. corporations. The poor on welfare are a drop in the bucket in comparison. But, of courfse, you will not hear this discussed or mentioned on the corporate-run media. The poor are an easy target.
if he is a christian he is an idiot. and tons of money is poored down the drain through our welfare system. or welfare system helps drug dealers get rich and helps stupid people that should have abortions have kids cause government will help pay for it. dad
You neatly ignore the fact that the welfare awarded the poor is a drop in the bucket compared to the welfare handed out to U.S. corporations. The right wing make sure that the discussion never goes there ... and they keep the middle & working classes angry about the poor getting welfare ... all the while, the wealthy receive the greatest benefits from public dollars by far. It just isn't called "welfare."
its not a drop in the bucket, lets be realistic about this. and most corporate welfare seams to be with the intention of keeping jobs around, its not like the government gives a company a check and it all goes in the ceo's bank account. with the bail outs of the financial sector, that may have happened to a certain degree, but there could have been serious implications if it hadn't been done.i think this country needs to be more brutal.if we brutally killed madoff, it would deter future schemes
It makes one wonder how someone can so clearly see through the political and social bullshit and at the same time they can be fooled by religion.

Chris Hedges may be, according to you, "kind of a douchebag." You, on the other hand, are definitely a scumbag.
