Dan plays these instruments like he invented them. That's why he's the so first call session player par excellence. He plays every thing so well, including the music stand. The person who commented theat Dan was a dork could not manage Dan's spit valve.
And just for grins, they played it in "A"...that's the key of "B" for all you Tenor players out there. Any of you high schoolers have the chops to improvise like this in "B", or even to subtone your low B and C#, or go so easily between the two? Woodshed a little before you criticize. Dan plays so far above your head you can't even begin to see where he is.
Excellent playing by both musicians. Dont know that tune but I like it. Sounds like a sound track from one of those late late nite movies from the fifties. its a shame more people dont appreciate this truly artistic music.
When I hear this, I wonder why anyone would want to play anything other than tenor sax...then I check out his clarinet stuff, and wonder why anyone would want to play anything other than clarinet...then I hear Dan on C melody, and I wonder....Oh well....you get my drift!!
Dad and son??? I thought you were brothers. Here's another vote for a nice smoky Film Noir CD. Include the C Melody number, this and others. It'd be killer if you could include a DVD clip of the chart you played on the Tonight show (last year?). Wish that was on YouTube! I looked, btw...
I play your stuff over and over again dreaming of even coming close to playing so well. Cheers!
Dan and Dustin...it's TIME! Time for you guys to put an album together of all the great music you're doing here in YouTube! It's evident that Dad & Son love the same music...and would love to have an album to listen to all of these tunes and more! Thanks for continuing to give us such great music!!!
Dan, you said we were going to hear some alto this time around? In either case, to think I was struggling to get through a clarinet/saxophone session in that very location just a few weeks ago. Dustin sounds terrific as ever. By the way, congrats on your playing on Wayne's album. That's an accomplishment man. Take care you guys and I look forward to hearing the next installment.
The Brothers Higgins have done it again, and this time it's sultry, sexy, and smooth. Perhaps the Jack D helped create the mood and spirit. Great performance, gentlemen!

Very nicely done! this is a great melody and the reverb on the sax gives a nice "Harlem Nocturne" mysterious quality.
