my dad make a wooden cup thirty years ago and his mother stained it. He thinks it might be dangerous to drink out of for that reason. what do you think?
Im not sure if Buckeye grows in the uk or if its under a different name, but the block was horse chestnut burr.
as you said , one beautiful block - i was given it by a friend who saved it from being buried - i suppose there must have been 15 cubic feet or thereabouts in big chunks.
@HowdySox What a perfect thing to say - many thanks - i would like to respond in a like manner - we need people who really appreciate what we do - it makes everything worthwhile.
i want to start making bowls like these, can someone point me to a tutorial that shows specifically how to make bowls like these. i would ask the owner of this video, but it says he hasn't signed in in two years.
beautiful art!

@RobertSrsan
Many thanks.
Takes a very long time to do a decent job - and is difficult to sell.

This is such captivating work. Is there anything more beautiful than wood worked by someone who undertands it?!?!

I don't want to use a lathe, the shapes are just 'to perfect'. I don't want a perfectly round bowl, I want deformed organic ones.
Angle grinder with Saburr-tooth carbide disks are my style.
