  • Brilliant -

  • love the bass lines

  • @TheItchyFetus is FANTASTIC

  • Isn't it supposed to echo when she says "Heaven"? That was probably just the American single mix? Apparently, echoes didn't test well in Australia...? Or were American audiences have an insatiable appetite for echo in 1984?

  • Never get tired of this song!

  • @TheWheelofLife100 I forgot about this song and if was played on the radio last weekend. I recognized it right away and could not remember the name of the band.

One of the better 80's one-hit wonder songs. At least this is the only one I ever heard.

  • @poidog44 *it

  • I wasn't even born when this came out. Thanks Dad! And thanks for posting.

  • RAGE! dam that was a good show

  • Year 12, singing this about one of our teachers..."Kevin, must be there! I don't want to go to his class...!!"

  • Truly one of the most underrated gems of the 80's!!!

  • who can hear the train

  • Does anyone else remember how, at the Australia Bicentenial Celebrations in '88, the Eurogliders omitted the words "I don't want to live in this place"?

  • totally awesome..............

  • hidden gem..... classic new wave from the 80's!

  • find my hidden comments.......press see all.

  • i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.

  • And now we're stuck with this crappy manufactured music of the 21st century. What a shame.

  • I never get tired of this song no matter how many times I listen to it.

  • Ahhhhhhh...those were the days

  • this takes me right back to the summer of 84, listening to wlir 92.7 fm very vivid memory :)

  • @MrRealbullshit Me to mate, what ever happen to music?

  • i saw eurogliders with my first real love, denise, at lismore workers (1984). love euroglders (and still love denise xxx)

  • I like this song

  • As soon as I saw the name "Eurogliders" in the suggestion list while watching the Divinyls, a FLOOD of happy musical memories came back! I'd forgotten this band and song completely! THANK YOU!

  • RECALL THE MANSELL ROOM IN KINGS CROSS CIRCA 1983 --JIMMY B ARNES FLEW IN TO OUR SEATS --AS I WAS SITTING NEXT TO RENEE-- AND HER GIRLFRIENDS -YIPPEEEI OHWAY

  • The first night I ever heard this crowd was at vhe MANZILL ROOM KINGS CROSS sitting right next to RENEE GEYER AND then Jimmy the Barnes dropped in something fierce-- wow and he and I were interviweing indonesians for jobs in australia that did not then exist

  • @memepoolshark

LOL, I hope Eurogliders don't mind sharing the stage with Mike & the Mechanics as they belt out, 'All I Need is a Miracle'. And there's always room for one more act.

  • @memepoolshark a couple of "hell No 1's" should also include Bop Girl and the highly forgettable She Bop,

  • just love those flashbacks.....cool song!

  • didn't know they were kiwi thought they were euro

  • @9sanskrit ozzie

  • @azl65 ok then didn't know they were ozzie thought they were kiwi

  • How in the heck does the black guy tune his bass. LOL!

  • @mrstrictlygm haha ronni is amazing !!!

  • Not sure if I actually remember this song.. but it sounds very 80's.. ahha.. not a bad thing... High schooldays.. not a great song.. but not as bad as most of the crap today!! ..

  • Every once in awhile when you sufing around youtube across the suggestion panel pops up a song faded from my memory. Well Done !! a great tune from back in the day.

  • This song always comes on when I'm out fishing.

  • Fereze at 1:01 for a chuckle. Otherwise, great music from back in the day.

  • @timcro24 What about at 1:50?

  • @MrDebashishMohanty - Yep, also right at 1:48. Great laughs, but I really enjoy this song. Great memories from way back in the day!

  • before people cared about music...now, people cares for who is performing the "music" which isnt really music... shittards damn faggots..

  • OMMMGGG JUSTIN BIEBER IS TOTES WAY BETTERRR

only joking, he sucks shit. this is what MADE MUSIC.

  • i dont want to live in this place...

  • @memepoolshark I remember this. I liked it. You should not complain, and feel lucky. Heavy rotation of this and it's ilk of the late 80's stuff is not as good as....... (you may fill in the blank here. Tell me: What it better?_____________________________________________)

    Music used to try harder.

  • Beatiful Song I have loved this song since it came out........I'm in the wayback machine

  • Amazing song. Great performance. Love the synth. The opening and closing scenes bookend the video perfectly.

  • I can remember seeing them live in Bunbury W.A back in the day and even though they were in a massive fairground tent you could just sit outside and hear them perfectly. Great band great sounds and excellent live.

  • @memepoolshark never stop being a lilkunt we hate fucheads liku

  • This song reminds me of my college days. Nice tune, nice video, excellent singing. Definitely one of Australia's hidden gems from the 80's.

  • @airdriver hard to believe they are actually australian, there's not one single fair fuggin dinkum and oi oi oi in there.

  • @memepoolshark ....Ha! Though I dont share a similar passion with Track as you do, I can certainly relate to and understand where youre coming from, and for putting it so comicaly, I will vote thumbs up on this comment.

And if that sends me to Hell....'Well Im sure I will be Greated by the Human League, performing Dont You Want Me(The Eterinty Mix)

  • @memepoolshark theres a good boy

latch on to the guitar part. it's awesome

  • Awesome song. Love it . Something sexy about Grace Knight.

  • Dont like this song at all, and I like most of nzoz's videos

  • good base player. I love Australia!

  • As a Yank who a: loved this when it came out (in the US) and b: someone who loves Oz, I quite enjoyed reading all the comments below. Love Oz music.

  • I lived in Perth at the time of this song's fame, it really reflected on my sadness at the time, and I really did not want to live there, Sydney started to look like Heaven to me, Peter Garret called it paradise wasting away. Interesting memories, of hopes, insights, inspirations, thanks Eurogliders!

  • @Novatene what's wrong with perth?

  • @ashli188 Perth was a long way from home. I was bullied at school. My step father was not the best to get along with. I was poor, fell sick often. Other things went wrong. It is a small city.

  • @Novatene:( well hopefully its all better now. but i have my own experiences and to me perth is great its a shame you dont see it the same way

  • @ashli188 Thank you ashli, I am sure I would see it differently now. My mind is so much changed after 26 years. You live there?

  • I remember listening to this when it came out, during long drives on straight, shimmering black roads in the deep red outback, hot winds blasting in your face...

  • @gothos1000 They mention "eden" and "hevan" but it's not about Christianity, is about getting away from the horrible, dry, dusty place they're living it and going somewhere better... i.e they're talking about Australia

  • i remember this song, the motels etc..the 80s..what an era of good music

  • Videos initial cinematography sequence reminds me of something from Mad Max beyond Thunderdome. A decent song at best.

  • @memepoolshark Still an idiot.

  • @memepoolshark IDIOT!

  • I saw these guys in the 80s with the Jimmy Barnes and the Divinyls. And I have to say Grace Knight blew Chrissy off stage. She owned the stage and entertained the crowd without ever grabbing her crotch.

  • @RedDwarf0707 Quite frankly I would hate to see her grab her crotch.

  • i sooo miss the 80s..what i will do to go back for a day and savor the moment..

  • A comment from memepoolshark, got me thinking...you poor tasteless MF...go back to the hole you came from and be a hater..we don't care..You rock Eurogliders and I'm a jimi hendrix and Funk fan,but I liked this alot...Gotta love the 80's.

  • I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOREVER!!!!!! OMG IT IS BETTER THAN I REMEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • As a scot living in Aus in the 80's, nice to hear this again!

  • @memepoolshark hey... go fark urself. i like it. have a nice day.

  • fck what is wrong with you people! nothing but hate and negative crap coming out of your mouths! have any1 of you made any songs and made any hits? no! so there it is! bag some1 else to make yourself feel good yeah right. this song has got to be one of the good hits of the 80's.

  • @qcboy04

Very true qcboy04. Leave em' to there fate!

  • fck what is wrong with you people! nothing but hate and negative crap coming out of your mouths! have any1 of you made any songs and made any hits? no! so there it is! bag some1 else to make yourself feel good yeah right. this song has got to be one of the good hits of the 80's.

  • @memepoolshark I can't agree because we never hear it anywhere except in our own music library or when we pull it up on Youtube. but dam, your comment is funny. I feel that way about "my heart will go on". BLEH>

  • love the facials at 1:03 in the song lmao!

  • Great stuff nzoz, keep the classics coming!

  • Brings back some great memories of 1984. I've got this stashed away on Vinyl somewhere...?

  • Great song and love the Flock of Seagulls hairstyle on the keyboardist!

  • I loved being a teenager in the '80s. We had it all and needed nothing more. This track brings back all of that.

  • Effing awesome song. Grace could really sing. Pity they could not write a few more like this.

  • "This Island" was excellent production, great variety, a few songs became classics..we still play it and enjoy it. This is well written and well sung and anyone criticising it just another jobless loon haunting cyberspace until their next dole payment arrives. Aussie music in the early 80;s was high quality and still identifyable. Sad to think of the shite that came later.

  • hehe hehe, I forgot about this song...I like it

  • This was a great album! I remember loving all the tracks...

  • apparently some people wouldn't know a good band if it bit them on the ass

  • @memepoolshark fucken shit band

  • You cant be that haunted by the song if you actually typed it in to hear it again MORON!! Its a classic..

  • F**ken Classic Aussie Music

    Thanks for sharing

  • i like it

  • its also the song featured in the new Mazda ad.

  • It's funny, but I remember only seeing this one video...one time on MTV.......I ended up buying the album (cassette)....probably a couple of times over the years. There were a few good songs on there ( for the 80s )...

  • @memepoolshark and that's why you came here to listen to it by choice???? lmfao

  • @memepoolshark hmmm testy little fellow are'nt you!!

  • i have to disagree with you memepoolshark .Eurogliders were one of this country's finest bands with many great songs including this one.Grace Knight was and still is one of the finest singer/entertainers this country have ever produced !!

  • @memepoolshark hahahahahhahahahah, I know I should hate your comment, but that got me laughing... I don't love this song, so its all good with me.

  • @nzoz1984 - bear in mind they were WAliens, living the nightmare of WA in the 80's; servos shops and a lot of pubs in the city centre used to be shut at 6 to 7 pm except Friday and Sat. All suburban service stations closed (just like the bush still, up north and south of Perth at 5.30 or six... yeah heaven must be there - somewhere on the road back to Australia :-P

  • @nzoz1984 it is very catchy. Heard it a TON on half of Sydney's radio stations.

  • @memepoolshark then why are u here listening to it????????????????

  • don't you wish they made a comeback and sing all their great hits, thinking a tour would go down great and show the world how us aussies are in having such fantastic talent.

  • I can't believe it...I was trying to think of this song for a month now!

  • Yup, as a States person, I recall this from my childhood. This group is one of the many OZ bands that deserved much more airplay. In the mid-80s: the UK and the US groups dominated the Billboard charts.

  • this brings back so many so highshool memories - thanks to those who posted!

  • No they weren't one hit wonders. They had quite a few hits on three great albums.

  • @raskdog you might be answering to an American - this song wasn't an official hit in the US, but is their most remembered song; thus, making them a 'one hit wonder' accoring to the Americans who remember this tune.

  • @nzoz1984 When it comes to music and world politics American's have never really had a grip on things and are basically wankers. Eurogliders had heaps of hits... American's just did not realise it... Have a listern again to "Absolutely" album...

  • @nzoz1984 i don't know what you mean by "official hit" ... this was their ONLY hit in the US. it did indeed reach the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts in 1984. none of the other Eurogliders singles charted in the US, though others were released.

  • Go Grace... you good thing!

    Eurogliders were Excellent Live!

  • i love this song, but i have to agree she does look dikeish

  • she looks like a dike

  • Awesome!

  • Thank you.

  • This song helps me feel like there just might be a place to have peace and safety. One of my most favorites

  • when good music was being made! Oh if only it could come back!!!!!

  • The clothing is awesome! Very stylish.

  • My college sweetheart's best friend was practically a groupie of this band (she'd lived in Aussie).

I saw them at Boston's Paradise and The Bottom Line in NYC...where I had the privilege of meeting them.

They were a sweet bunch of people and concert was good fun.

Their 2nd singe in the U.S., Another Day in the Big World, didn't do all that well.

I wonder whatever happened to these nice people.

  • @Arkady63 The lead Singer went on to have a fantastic solo career - Grace Knight is her name.

  • Cheers for the info. And, fyi, Grace Knight was very charming.

But this all seems (and I guess was) eons ago!

  • Crispin on guitar and Amanda Vincent on keys

  • And Arkie Whiteley starring in clip

  • One of the earliest songs i can remember as a kid, and a damn fine one at that!

  • wow this vid ruined the song, i though the lead singer was hot... but no

  • they could pass for scottish in a second! (this is meant as a compliment, spare me the flames!)

  • You could pass for an Irishman with a degenrerative brain disease (this is meant as a compliment!)

    Heh, j/k :)

  • OMG! Que buen tema! Realmente estos Eurogliders traían un sonido muy fino y ritmico...Que pasó con ellos? En México sólo se escucho este tema y nunca más volvimos a saber de ellos...que lástima!

  • Awesome song from Perth's homegrown band...fair dinkum bonzo rippa good times I've had when i was there in West Oz growing (or trying to) up. Sniff...really makes me homesick...

  • Very cool song ! I remember seeing this videos back in the 1980s. Should have been a number one hit !

  • Some of them were actually from Western Australia!

  • That would explain the tough looking Dyke doing the singing...

...s/he (it?) is a good singer though, despite looking like a reject from Prisoner Cell Block H!

  • what a revolting thing to write, have you no class? you must need your eyesight tested ignorant fool, grace was lovely..bad karma to you mate..lol!

  • Is that profile picure of you or Willem Dafoe?

Damn he got old & rough...

  • what a strange person you must be

  • At least you changed your photo :)

  • LOL! you must be really bored to even check that

  • were they one hit wonders?

  • No

and thank you for your earlier comments. Much appreciated!

  • I bought this the week it came out, on cassette. Wore it out, still have the replacement. She has such an awesome voice, I loved this tune the second I heard it

  • New Zealand Music ... Classic song as always and forever being !! ...Vive le 1985 ... !!

  • Erm they were actually from Australia.

  • Your correct , my apoligies they are from austrailia . New zealand who sits right next to aussie the same way japan sits next to china , recieved the same recognition for the groups foundation is why i mention new Zealand , plus New zealand is a more dreamier place to visit one day is why . Just a twang more dreamier { not much ]

  • goose bumps

  • Absolutely. I get goose bumps every time I hear this song. It is without doubt in my Top 10 songs of all time.

    ♫Aaron Ryan Music♫

  • This is a 1980's wet dream. This was so cool when it came out. 25 years later it is still a good song. it'll live forever on my 80's mixes..

  • Heaven is a Red Rats Tail.

  • Awesome.

  • thankyou you very much for making this available :)

  • I never thought I'd ever hear this song again but I seem to recall it as much more plaintive than this live version.
