My first astro was an "88", it was a bondo box with an engine from a S-10 pickup. My current is an "01". The blower is removed from under the hood, not under the dash.
You might have to remove the fan wheel, to get it out of that tight spot under the hood, otherwise, it's just 5 small screws. The 01 had an acoustic plastic cover, that had to be cut out, before removing the fan. Your right, the china motor is not as good, makes more noise and dosen't seem to blow as much air.
@metalmoto Its funny you said that! 2 weeks ago the blower stopped working! So I punched it. It works again! for now.. Bad brushes! I have a new AC delco blower motor, NOS part made in canada! Not china like the new ones.. I have to install it.. Did you have a 88-94? Getting it out from the dash is a Pain. I never did get this blower out. It was too tight of a fit, But now it HAS to come out!
Ya, Its still working great... I wanted to take the whole blower out and get the front bushing too.. But.... I had to remove the dash so I did not do it.

Just replaced my blower, it was 22 degrees out. Wish I seen your video earlier, maybe I could of kept it going until springtime, then fixed it.
