@ujrkingdom yes. this is an EXTREMELY basic tutorial for people who just want to click together games in a few minutes. You can make all your own models, animate them, make your levels, skyboxes, 2d images, textures, etc. EVERYTHING.

And it has a script editor so you can make your characters act the way you want, including resolution and motion.

Plus, if you have the commercial edition, you can use shaders, to add the maximum effects to your game.

great video!!! See I've followed your steps through game studio 6, 7 and 8 but when I RUN the level there are no errors but I can not see the terrain, my guard or any movements at all. Instead I came across a complete black screen!!! yeah all BLACK. Can anybody please tell me what's wrong? I have the free version. Can that be the main problem? Again great video!!!

If you want to make a games first you have to learn some programming language (C++, C#, Java) which is just beginning. After that you have to learn how to make scripts, AI, physics, and other not so easy stuff. 3d game studio and other programs is just entertainment, more similar to sims than game designing.

Game Maker does not support 3D as this program.

I did use GM, and it was easy, but it contain some pros, so i moved to this one.

I don't recommend you to try GM, but do whatever you want to.

Anyways, decide what is the perfect thing for yourself.

But I think XNA Game Developer is good enough. Because it uses C++, and C++ is very popular. :) (Same as 3D Game Studio, but it does contain some pros as well)

I said that Game Maker is not support enough of all 3D features. For example, you need to use some specific files to load them to Game Maker (talking about *.x *.obj *.mod), when other programs can open even more. Second example, Game Maker can't load animation that was made in 3DSMax (or at all can't open it's work), and again, there are programs which can open.

So I never said GM not support 3D, i just said it has some limits.

try out "XNA Game studio 2008". it''s an addon to "Visual C# 2008", so make sure to install that first. you can download the express edition from microsoft. Or for even more advanced game making you can try out "Dark GDK" that is an addon for "Visual C++ 2008"
