??? WHAT hope? WHAT change? For what??? The Nobel Peace Prize was not intended to motivate a person to do something; It is an award for something ALREADY accomplished!!! DUH!!
I don't know what the big deal is. The Nobel Peace Prize has always been a source of humor to me. Now maybe the rest of the world will laugh at those Norwegian Bozos. Thanks for the chuckles, Peace Prize Guys.
Obama won bc he represents a change in momentum for a country which was taking worrying directions. Its not so much what he has done but what he will hopefully do and an encouragement to that effect an act of placation to worlds most powerful nation that until recently wasshowing alarming and real inclinations to totalitarian fascism. I think that there is a real limitation on how change he can realy implement at any one time obviously but the heart is willing to soar to the sky.
Well, as far as my husband and I could tell, it was the damned Europeans getting their hands in American Politics. We believe that they think now that he has this award, he will work harder toward pulling troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Personally, political leaders should be off limits to receiving such an award until they are no longer in those positions.
You act like Obama asked for this award. Its amazing to me how Republicans lack the ability to be proud of a USA citizen getting said award. Keep hating, and see where your party ends up in the future.
He was simply expressing his opinion, he didn't go and say "HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT I HATE OBAMA AND HIS PRIZE! RAAA! There are so many other people who actually promaoted peace and deserve this award. The people this prize has been given to recently made the Nobel Peace Prize a joke. And, btw Obama isn't a U.S. citizen... he is a president...
@bdarnell1966 It has nothing to do with hate or Republicans. If Dr. Kevorkian got the peace prize I wouldn't be proud because he's an American getting it. It lends an aura of aproval to the person and what they have accomplished, or in this case are attempting.
He has reached out a hand to our enemys, and I think that is a start to peace. You must offer peace to have any chance of having it. If your enemys only see you as an aggressor then war and death is what will result.
I am an Obama supporter. But I am not an unconditional Obama supporter. Having said that, I agree with what was said in this video. Obama should not have been given this award without FIRST demonstrated a reason for getting it. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Five Stars. Well articulated and presented, Xaves. I agree, like most others here, that Obama did not deserve this prize. It also puts on a greater expectation on him now, more than ever, to deliver on all his campaign promises.
An award should be given after something honorable has been accomplished. The Nobel Peace Prize is(well at least) was something that has taken great strides before someone receives it. If there were large things that happened come the end of his presidency and he has proven himself, then it would make sense for him to have it, but he hasn't proven himself yet in my opinion. I'm not seeing any valid enough reason(s) as to why he has given this prize either.
He is doing what the puppet Masters want him to do or to be as. The man who started this Nobel Peace Prize invented dynamite. Look at all the scums in the past that won it, Kissinger, Arafat, I saw even Hitler got it, now what does that tell you? As my dear departed momma told me long ago: "Birds of a feather flock together".
Obama was cheated with this undeserved condescending award... unless the prize for the first "ethnic" or first president to have the gall to violate the treaties with the American natives.... something that a white commander-n-chief cannot do in a politically correct state. Keep in mind that I once was a fan of Obama before he started turning Chinese in his tactics.
I have to agree with Xaves on this. I would rather see a President awarded like this after his term has ended and the body of his works have become fact. Giving Obama this award now is like giving a student an A+ before they turn in their homework.
Have you ever heard of "Give me my flowers while I live" so I can see them, smell them. and appreciate them. The part that everyone is missing is "what qualifies a nominee to receive the award" And that is not that it has been accomplished at the time of receiving it, but that they have made effort. that is their rules, that was Nobel's wishes in his will. No matter how much we may disagree with it, their decision is their own. instead of complaining we should encourage him to follow through
Those who think that Obama deserved the award are clearly bias. And I don't mean this in a racist way, but they are also usually minorities. I think many minorities have placed this man on a pedestal ever since he came into office and can't see him as being anything less than stellar. Obama knew he didn't even deserve the prize and giving it back would speak volumes. He is taking it away from someone who truly deserved it. I wonder if he can sleep at night. It is not something to be proud of.
This is bullshit. He was awarded this prize for his wish list. The group of left wing Norwegian idiots turned this award into meaningless symbol. Before you go off on my comments let me say I am not a racist, and I am not politically correct. I always say what's on my mind and not sugar coat it.
HOW OBAMA WON THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE He simply said... "America is a arrogant Nation and I apologize for America" "America is NOT a Christian Nation but a Nation of Muslims" "America is a greedy Nation" "America is giving $500 Billion to other Countys Banks that are struggling" "America has been hostile to other nations" "America should disarm itself" "America sees NO threat from Iran" "America has made some BAD decisions" (Michelle) "I have NEVER been proud of my country until now"
Lets see:He opposes torture, he is trying to get us out of Afghanistan, he has tried to get countries to stop nuclear weapon stockpiles and material and the U.N. unanamously decided to rid the World of nuclear weapons, he has begun his promised diplomatic engagement with Iran, he has urged peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, he was against the invasion of Iraq, all since he's been in office. Go watch the clip that Rachel Maddow showed of Obama's efforts since he's been in office.
He has shown efforts of promoting peace, when he went to those other countries and conversed with them, he showed efforts of peace, when he ordered that Guantanamo be shut down, he has shown efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and negotiate with other countries, that even Bush could get no where with.
People criticize this man in every effort he makes fix this mess this country was left in by previous Presidents.
Hi lovie. Now you know I love you. But we just have to disagree on this. Consider that the deadline for sending votes to elect the Nobel Peace Prize was Feb 1st, 12 days after Obama was in office. At that time, he had not visited any foreign countries and conversed with them or done anything to strengthen international diplomacy.
Like I said in the other comments, the award is not given to those that have accomplished, but to those that have made an effort...... and promoting and stimulating peace is not based on how long u have been campaigning for peace.
And of course, we can have a disagreement without flinging stones and being hateful.
I just don't understand why some feel he doesn't deserve this award for the efforts he has made thus far, regardless of how long he has been in office.
And this was in an article written in July of 2008, so he didn't just start some of these efforts Xaves.
"Obama said it is "strongly in the interest of Israel's security to arrive at a lasting peace with the Palestinian people" "My whole goal in terms of having tough, serious direct diplomacy is not because I'm naive about the nature of any of these regimes. I'm not," Obama said at a press conference.
continued: "It is because if we show ourselves willing to talk and to offer carrots and sticks in order to deal with these pressing problems, and if Iran then rejects any overtures of that sort, it puts us in a stronger position to mobilize the international community to ratchet up the pressure on Iran."
Lovie: you are beautiful and talented and you know I've always liked you. Let's agree to disagree on this. And I hope that this prize helps to remind Obama of all the promises and good intentions he's expressed in the past for our nation and give him the inspiration to achieve them.
That is part of the reason they awarded it to him.
They recognized his efforts, they see the GOP and others fighting against him, so they done this to encourage his efforts and remind him of his intentions, and to reinforce the fact that now that I have been awarded such a nobel prize, I am now obligated to carry out my peace mission that I have set.
But of course there are so many against his every move, they can't see this.
going around the world apologizing for US policy is creating a cowardly spirit and is reprehensible. some might view that as a generator of peace. however, it really means a sign of weakness. thus Khadafi and others love Obama.
so apologizing to someone is a sign of weakness, Nicole?
In my beliefs apologizing and discussing a problem leads to keeping the peace between two parties. Rather than ignoring the problem and making it worse, and creating war between the two parties.
So what I am gathering is that peace can be obtained by him not talking to them at all and just send out threats against them and bully them, so he doesn't look weak, like Bush done?
did you know that due to deadlines, he would have to have been nominated ELEVEN DAYS into his administration? The LA times has a new piece up about how it was due to the inspiration of hope and some such shit. what a crock...
great vid man, i agree. also, youre lookin good in that suit!
