I am a Malaysian living outside of Malaysia, this is my personal view. From macroeconomic perspective, Malaysia is always being juxtapostioned itself with other ASEAN comcountries by the foreign investors. Without a fair electoral and political systems that guarantee economic growth and return on investment, it is hard for Malaysia to co-survive with neighboring developing countries like Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Malaysia is a great country that is free of natural disasters and comprised of talented Malays, Business-savy Chinese and Professional Indians. From economic perspective, this is truly a great combination. However, Malaysian Government has a narrow-minded democracy system that leans toward the native Malays, and caused injustice to other ethnicities. This is the first thing to solve in order to promote unity among its different ethnicities.
The faster the nation adopts changes, the more competitive it is. Even without NEP, racial discrimination will still be there as it cannot change the ethnic composition. But if it is governed well, Malaysia can move faster ahead than many nations. The three main races have their own competencies - Malay: skill in politic and PR; Chinese-skill in business, Indian-skill in lawyers and doctors. Government can then implement policies that can foster greater racial paticipation.
The minority groups are not happy that the discrimination policy has prolong and it has encroached deeper into religion, education and business. Whether like it or not gobalisation will force liberlisaton, conpetition and meritocracy.
People won't demo for its own sake. I think the Government and UMNO need to really consider their policies particularly on NEP, the racial discrimination policy which does bear fruits after 50 years independant.
Democracy UMNO style only means that the Rakyat are allowed to cast their vote once every five years. It seems that it is a very narrow interpretation of democracy. To them, any act of demonstration, voicing out one's opinion, is considered undemocratic.

How well/detailed do you know that the election is unfair and even if you do, are your facts 100% truth? How do you define strong comments? Does comments that tally with your beliefs consider strong? Does strong means truth and correct? Are all beliefs true? Does a coin only have one side?
regardless of whether all "facts" are 100% true, I think the main point of the whole rally is just a want for a fairer electoral system, though such a change would not really solve all the political problems the country face. the real solution lies in mass proper education of the public. In Malaysia's case, I think it's better Internet access throughout the country.

The first thing that has struck you is, terminologies such as Malay "special rights", or Malay "special privileges" are no where to be found . Only "the special position of the Malays", appears twice in Article 153, which is "Reservation of quotas of services, permits, for Malays". The fault is our politicians twisting, misinterpreting and abusing Article 153.

I am a Malaysian living outside of Malaysia, this is my personal view. From macroeconomic perspective, Malaysia is always being juxtapostioned itself with other ASEAN comcountries by the foreign investors. Without a fair electoral and political systems that guarantee economic growth and return on investment, it is hard for Malaysia to co-survive with neighboring developing countries like Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

From economic perspective, this is truly a great combination. However, Malaysian Government has a narrow-minded democracy system that leans toward the native Malays, and caused injustice to other ethnicities. The faster the nation adopts changes, the more competitive it is. Even without NEP, racial discrimination will still be there as it cannot change the ethnic composition. But if it is governed well, Malaysia can move faster ahead than many nations. The three main races have their own competencies - Malay: skill in politic and PR; Chinese-skill in business, Indian-skill in lawyers and doctors. Government can then implement policies that can foster greater racial paticipation.

Taking on little issues like police and water cannons...if there was no rally, then this wont happen. There is a system for partitions. We learnt it in Pengajian Malaysia that there is a system. Do you think what you are doing is right?

regardless of whether all "facts" are 100% true, I think the main point of the whole rally is just a want for a fairer electoral system, though such a change would not really solve all the political problems the country face. the real solution lies in mass proper education of the public. In Malaysia's case, I think it's better Internet access throughout the country.

First of all, if the saturdays rally is for the future generations of our country, what guarantee do i have that the system that could be lead by those leaders in the rally would promise and provide Malaysians a fair and just system? Will they teach my children to execute rallys in front of the King's Palace? What is the reason that they lost in the past election? Is it unfair all these while? Then aren't we ashamed to have 50 years independant with goverments cheating each other?

Personally, i totally believe that 10th Nov rally is for personal intentions only...not for future generations. If a leader is really promising great future, he will definately win. Does all those leaders in the rally promise the citizens of Malaysia a brighter future or they just want power and occusing the election to be unfair? Then why those in schools who failed PMR or SPM or STPM are not having rallies and protest saying the markings is unfair?
