Typical of commercially produced nasal whining country crap that came after the Grand Ole Opry moved to it's fantasy Disneyland like park. I like the real down home country music that came mostly before the mid 1970s.
The Kendall's were the nicest Entertainer's I ever got to play Fiddle with..I miss you Royce...When we toured they had lots of fans that would stand outside all afternoon to get in to see the show. They Were Special Folks..
I can EASILY not like that song. The nasally singing is bad enough, then throw in the father/daughter duet about the possibility of having an affair, and it REALLY pegs out the creep-o-meter.
@jdendy1969 the song is about a woman who loves a man who is all wrong for her and she is tempted to sleep with im, but as a christian, she can't bring herself to cross that line and make love to him. Heard this song when I was a young kid and this is how it was explained to me, by the dj playing it :) ( mom called into the radio station and requested it,then asked ,for me, what it meant..."
My Mom and Dad and us kids used to go over to my Uncle and Aunties house on Saturday night when I was a kid and listen to country music, talk and laugh. This was one of the songs I remember very well back in the late 70's that Mom loved....along with everything that George Jones and Conway Twitty put out lol.
@LT1HILLINGHOE hey i know just what you mean, i,m from the 70,s my self, i,ll play these great oldie,s and just go back in time. i love all the oldies, it,s good to find people from my time. we had great music,
@janehylton100 We had great music and we grew up in great times. I came of age in the 80's and they were some great years for not only me, but America too. Pop and Rock were also good music then too. The America we have now is almost unrecognizable to the ones who are 40ish years old.
@LT1HILLINGHOE Wow you are so right. Im 42, came of age in the 80's and it was a completely different time, so much better. I dont know what went wrong, but America is for sure nearly unrecognizable today, compared to then. The dignity, class, and respect, its awful...and i have no words whatsoever to explain the music industry of today. These you tube oldies, however, really help me out, lol.
I love this song....if you happen to have Two Heart Harmony by the Kendalls could you please load...i can't find it anywhere because it was only released on vinyl or cassette--thanks
when i first heard pearl jams wishlist in 1998 i think it was ....i knew vedder had just slowed the'' heavens just a sin away'' part of this song down a tad....and dart1966man ...most all music tday is crap... i am a big fan of 50s 60s 70s rock...and i must say the country music was good as well...but there was a time in the 60s when bands knew they should change their sound every so often ect ... artists should sing naturally and not try to mimic also a few other things
@IVSacredVI i'm autistic. the reality of this song is it is a christian theme: She wants the guy, but when she says "I belong to him" she means she belongs to god. She is lusting after a man ,but cannot have him because she is a christian.
@mintgumdropz1 This song is about SEX, you idiot! What on earth do you think she's "giving in" to?! My guess is that you've never had it to experience "heaven"!!!ROFLMAO!!!!!!
@morefina you are the idiot if you cannot see beyond the surface meaning. Take your assholish attitude elsewhere, step away from the keyboard and get a life.
@mintgumdropz1 What "beyond the surface meaning"?! The song is about a married woman, having an affair, saying she shouldn't, but want's to "go all the way" with her boyfriend, but knows it would be wrong. Plain & simple, but wait, it's NOT simple for you because you're an austic retard!!! So go and get your kids off the short-bus just like you rode, remember the classes for "special kids"? That's 'cause you're DUMB! See how SIMPLE I try to make it for you. Should I use easier words, perhaps?!!!
I spent a winter in Jax-Beach back in the 70's sometime and this song and "Don't it make your brown eyes blue" by KG were all you heard on the juke box. WOW, the good old days.
Royce was my dad's (step) cousin..... I only wish we had been able to know them.
We lost touch with my uncle when he married Royce's mom. Jeannie still does concerts, I believe. Maybe one day I will get to meet her. Thanks for posting this.
lillygirl my Ma loves this song too, reminds me when I was five and she would sing and play guitar...badly but lovely as well, so very sorry for your loss
@slowtable: I gotta say... I found it a little creepy. My grandmother insisted I look this up for her, and upon discovering they're a father daughter duo, I can see it being a little creepy. I mean, I'm not insinuating anything about them as a family, by no means. Just saying, I can see where you're coming from.
That particular fact was released not long after that song hit the charts (Fall of 1977). Also, it was mentioned every time the Kendalls were (well, for a year or two anyway). It came to be regarded as no big deal that Royce and Jeannie Kendall were a father and daughter who sang a lot of cheating songs.
@dart1966man Man you can say that again. Way to many failed pop singers that still can't sing! I just don't understand what the heck people are hearing that they think is so damn great.
She's playing at a "Thanks to the Listeners" concert that my favorite radio station is putting on! I want to go, but sadly, it's hosted in a casino, and you must be 21 to enter..
I always loved her hats! I lived through puberty listening to this song. Often it was an excuse for my actions ! Now I'm married, 4 grown children ! ha
Just listening to your music brings back fond memories of my parents who have since passed on in recent years, makes me so happy that other people are sharing through music of their memories growing up! Makes me so happy! Keep up the good work!
The best female country voice of all time in my book is Jeanie Kendall.... brings back a lot of good memories listening to her and Royce while testing trucks in the PA mountains.
