  • I want to cage the beast! :D

  • um...um...um...uh...

  • Excellent training video. I use Sony Vegas, but I learned a lot about Adobe from watching this and might give it a run down the line as it is available on both mac and pc platforms.

  • Thanks for the info, I don't know why people have such know it all attitudes, I have a Nikon and the information was still interesting.

  • thanks for this video series, they've been very helpful!

  • 5 minutes later i knew this video wasnt for me, i have canon t2i,i use sony vegas and my laptop is a piece of crap so i moved to another video!

  • The big question is! What are your rendering settings! I can't get crystal clear quality like yours....

    -FCO

  • I lol'd when I saw utorrent in the quickbar xD

  • Hey, man, nice tutorial. Screw the haters.

  • Watched all yur episodes in this series... excellent work.

Just one concern that you left out in this episode... I have a 600D and Premier CS4. When transcoding your footage to in Adobe Media Encoder what is the best settings to use to create proxys?

Once you have the proxys and done with editing and color correction of yur edit, what settings do I export the video 2 obtain full quality of the footage?

I know i need CS5 to make things easier but with those that have CS4 for now what do we do?

  • Thanks for the Video...My work with HD video files were really painfull before that, just one question, that pre-conversion aplies to Canon T2i videos too? Are Canon videos all H.264 encoded? Gonna Really try that offline transcoding...

  • Sounds pretty counterproductive to attempt to "upconvert" your footage to 10bit for color correcting by transcoding it. You'd be transcoding the footage twice, and as we all know...each time you transcode/re-encode your footage, you lose quality. Pretty sure you'd be better off avoiding that extra step altogether and just doing the color correcting with your original footage. You can't do better than your source. Remember the old expression "garbage in equals garbage out?" :) Just saying... :)

  • @dinkyflix yeah your right i think but hes right about transcoding it to low quality avi's and then after doing all the effects you make cs5 render the original h.264's...

  • You don't need to buy Cineform if you're not using CS5, just download the free Avid DNxHD codec to get 10-Bit footage and just do all your conversion within After Effects.

  • next wave + behringer = :-(

  • To the fellas at NextWave: You've been sooooo helpful to me in my quest to learn about DSLR's. Your videos have helped me make my purchase decision (which I've already bought) as well as acessories (also bought). Thanks. Please know that your efforts are appreciated tons. You're good fellas.

  • Nice video, really helpful. Hope you enjoy our new vid. as well. Check it out!

  • Why are the people being so mean...don't watch the video if it's no use to you. To sit there and type out a few lines of nasty stuff to say, makes no point. Wow I guess I am new to this, but most of the stuff people say I have never had anybody say that to my face...I guess if you can get away with it. Nice video Next Wave, like always!

  • @Rolwhite Thanks. The reason we make these videos is to try and give them a little more knowledge to help them on their next project.

  • When you fill in your footage (stretch it out) there still seems to be black bars around all four corners or am I seeing things? how do you get rid of the black bars totally?

  • lol.

    ...and we'll see you ne...END

  • awesome episode!

  • Boring...

  • woah,, torrent.. is that legal? haha

  • Nice video, thanks for the tips, although watching what you Premier editors have to go through, I'll stick with Vegas :)

  • awesome vid as always guys keep em coming

  • The most useful episode !!!!

  • Great, I have been looking for this. Only I use me peg stream clip and final cut express.suggestions?

  • THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!!

I have been looking for a good video on a subject that is, THIS!!!

Could you do one on editing pictures taken from DSLR? Regular editing (contrast, hue, color, etc.) and Photoshop editing(brushing, dodge, burn, etc.)?

  • YESSSSSS! I love anything to do with Post production!

  • Glad I have CS5. I wouldn't want to do all that transcoding. I find CS5 really fast and it renders at least 3 times faster then the CS3 I had before. I really love it.

I didn't know about the offline option though. That is useful to know.

  • finally get to see someone doing DSLR on adobe products in general THANK YOU!

  • This was awesome! It would be great to have more videos on color correction. In particular how to simulate magic bullet looks presets like blockbuster just using the basic tools that come with your NLE.

  • @LucidDreamTricks We actually did an episode about that just a few months ago: "Color Correction with Premiere Pro CS4 CS5"

  • @NextWaveG Thanks! I just got finished watching that. It's just what I was looking for. This channel rocks!

  • thats why I prefer to edit dslr files on a mac because of MPG STREAM CLIP FREE software, and Color as a color grading tool

  • its a good thing you made this tutorial, if you didn't, I would of never gotten good edited footage from the 7D since i can't find any other tutorial like this for the Premiere Pro CS5

  • where did you get your t-shirt? It's cool

  • longest series ever

  • I wish that it creates the proxy for you like after effects does.

  • pretty disapointed with this episode. the big problems were the editing software used. while most opperate the same, he just assuming we use premire and not others like final cut or sony vegas

  • This video was brought to us by A LOT of people. LOL.

  • Buddy why would anyone with a 5D be watching your videos. They'd know this stuff. STop insinuating everyone has a 5d. People have 550d, 600d, 60d. THEY DONT' HAVE 5D'S.!!

  • @eveningniteshade i think all have the same bit-rate and i think they are eall also 1080 p :P

  • @eveningniteshade People also have NIKONs )=

  • @eveningniteshade you forgot to mention 7D!!

  • @bouchandre and 1D MKIV!!

  • @eveningniteshade That is a big assumption, and I say it would be wrong a lot of the time. How about you don't insult the nice people making these tutorials available for everyone at no cost.

  • @eveningniteshade you got it right man :P i have 550d !

  • @eveningniteshade I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter because they all record in the same format...

  • @eveningniteshade Shut up you whining lil b*tch, if you didn't learn anything move ON. Don't assume more amateur users like me know this stuff yet you selfish prik

  • @eveningniteshade He is using the 5D as an example. The transcoding is neccessary for those cameras too. It will be done the same way. His instructions are accurate, so calm down. And I'm sure plenty of people have 5D's. He isn't insulting anyone, he is trying to be helpful, and he is doing that alot more so than you are. Some people.

  • uh, is this a new guy? Never seen hilm before, except for the NAB videos..

  • @MrSmallButBrave he said it in the beggining of the video ..... he is the guy behind the camere or in the editing

  • @MrSmallButBrave He says who he is and what he does within the first two minutes of the video.

  • First!

  • @IzzyPollak and anybody shud care beacuse ?....
