Must be learning how to 4x4 still.. If ye learn how to modulate your brakes and gas you could easily walk through that. At the very least don't be so sharp with your gas input you lose your traction immediately.
@CanadaBud23 Amen! Plus, he should get an XJ, since they are superior to the Grand in every 4X4 situation! My XJ with 3" of lift and 31X10.5s would have made it through there with ease. Even before I lifted it and put the bigger tires on it, I would have made it through a lot easier than he did.
@MarvelMarvelcomic Yeah, right, lmao! I live in the western United States and there is nothing that compares to the Jeep XJ! Yeah, you see Grands at Moab, but they have to modified to hell to even keep up with a stock XJ! In the snow, my XJ embarrasses a few of my friends that have ZJs with 7-8" lifts and 38s; my XJ only has about a 3.5" lift and 31X10.5s!
@Haters374 No, that would actually be the XJ! Huh, how many Grands do you see at Moab? I have seen a few at Moab, but they have to be modded to hell to compare to a stock XJ. How many Grands do you see with more than 300,000-miles on them without any major repairs ever being done? None! I have never seen a Grand with more than 200,000-miles without a tranny rebuild! I had an XJ many years ago that had just under 600,000-miles on it before it died! It only had routine maintenance done!
@kc8ntp dude, you dont need to keep telling everyone how awesome your xj is. and you dont need to flame grands. im sure i could pick apart an xj and point out all its weak points, but were all jeepers. and i know of a zj thats got 360000 on it and plenty others that have 250+. and the reason that you see more xjs at moab is because they have a stronger aftermarket support. both the xj and the zj have their own benefits, but the xj is most definitely not superior in every 4x4 situation.
@jeepdriver713 I should have said "nearly" all situations. I just get so tired of people thinking the Grand is so superior, but don't have any experience with the XJ. I have owned nearly every Jeep model that has even been made, and the XJ is the best I have ever owned. I have several buddies with ZJs that have 6" + lifts and my XJ with 3.5" and 31s whips them in every situation. The XJ is lighter and 5" less whl-bse, which makes a hell of a difference in the snow and steep terrain.
Uh, here's a tip.....if the snow is deeper than your vehicles ground clearance having a 4 X4 isn't going to help much. This ZJ just got bogged down. Put a set of chains on the wheels and you might---MIGHT---have a chance to get through the snow but I wouldn't bet on it. Those spinning wheels mean 'lack of traction' and you're killing your tranni with all that wheel spinning.
Maybe a 2" lift and lil bigger tire to stop the underneath from draggin but hey u made it anyway that's all that matters that's my kind of fun I always liked goin out during and after a new England storm
Anybody need a 249 (Quadra-Trac 4 All-TIme, N, 4LO) to 242 (Selec-Trac 2WD, 4 Part-Time, 4 Full-Time, N, and 4 LO) swap? Our shop can do this for anyone who wants it. See our cameraman's Grand Cherokee video for details!
@jrxjjeep hmm never attempted it on WJ. I don't see why it can't be around the same price. The T-case is the same, not sure on the axles, and I know the T-case shifter is different. I'd say no more than $500
I was doing some winter wheeling there about a week back, i didn't know the trail well so i was following the snow mobile tracks... ended up driving directly into a black mud bog about knee deep with about 3 feet of snow on top of it.
@Spotted2Bigfoot I hear ya there, I made the mistake of putting a set of 285/12.5/16 BFG All-Terrian KO's on my 2000 Tacoma with an open front and locked rear. They ride better, are quieter and lasted longer on pavement than my previous set of 32" Firestone M/Ts but the moment the BFG A/T's touch snow, mud, or sand they suck.

Are you sure it's a Limited? Doesn't look like it's got quadra-drive, 'cause at 1:20 the rears are spinning and the fronts arent...
