  • Here is the link to further info and all of their demos(scroll down to see links):

Would let me post a link but search for Farbrausch and wikipedia

  • The file is not there...

  • could you upload the file again please ?

  • this is .kkrieger isn't it?

  • And where is the file now? :( I want to download it

  • From what I remember about this demo from farbrausch is that it generates everything from just code, even textures, and that it generates about 2GB worth of data that is used in the demo. Amazing work but them. I wonder how games would be if some of this was used in big titles to cut down on size.

  • @xAquinasx That is nonsense. Games are trying to expand their space requirements to lower the CPU and GPU requirements, not the other way around.

  • I remember being in awe after watching it play on my machine, some time ago. Yup, that's pretty amazing for 177kB. :]

  • Well what can i say gob smacked ! awesome upload and second thing how long did this demo take to put together in the early days of graphic and demo design i had a program called videotracker this program was cool it would run vectors also title image video A graphics but this is amazin 10000% credit for this is cool regards *_*

  • Cool! Doesn't look that real though... woulda helped also if you put it in something more than 360p >.< but then again, I don't know if YouTube even had an HQ or HD button in 2008.

  • LARGE! In my day demos were 8k. Nah jokes, this demo was totally epic when it came out! love!

  • Hey how did you compress this?

  • reminds me of dark city

  • watch when high very gud

  • that was awesome...

  • For those that haven't figured it out yet, this is 'debris' by Farbrausch, which was premiered at the demoscene party Breakpoint 2007 in Bingen am Rhein, Germany. You can download the infamous 177kb production from pouet which is a major demoscene repository

  • it/s .theprodukkt demo, this one's called debris, game that ure mentioning - kkrieger, and it its indeed german.

it uses cpu instead of gpu, because it creaters all textures at the beginnig. they're procedural textures, so they don't weight almost anything except for some lines of programming code.

  • I don't get it. This is a demo of a freakin game?...it look like a comercial to me XD

  • @shad0wboss

No its a coding demo. Realtime graphic programmers show of their skills this way.

  • very nice......

  • this is make with UT3 engine or? i think its make in a engine editor, and than render...

  • awsome !! good work

  • both download links are down...

    But THIS IS AWESOME!!

  • I haaaaave this demo! It's really small

  • which program to use

  • Dark City...kinda...

  • me any my friends at the college are working on a similar project but....this demo is way bigger then wat we are goign to do ._.

    nice job guys....(*cry*)

  • Download links give me an invalid file error... But this is still the most awesome demo I have ever seen. In my entire life.

  • For its size this is the most amazing graphics demo EVER!

  • Check the update in the vid info, I JUST re-uploaded the file..

Now actually go try it before making yourself look like a fool again... When you run the tech demo, it's rendering in real time...

  • @GEARSCOMBATANT1 the link is down.

  • this looks quite amazing. but i dont understand whats the deal here?

Are you saying that I can run this on my PC with very low video-memory requirements? Or just that it only takes like 177 KB of Hard Drive (Disk Space) ?

I only have 250 MB of video memory. Will I be able to run this or will I need like vid memory in GB's ?

Its very good again, thanks. =]

  • The impressive bit is, it packs a lot of visual detail in such a small file size(177kb).. It is a BIT demanding, but compared to the hardware that's out now, any current gen PC should be able to run this tech demo ok.. What are your specs? This techdemo is obviously more GPU intensive than CPU intensive.. I see you have a 256mb video card, which one exactly?

Even an 8600GT should be able to run this demo relatively fine..

  • i bet it's not very dynamic, if played as a video game....

  • just like linger in shadows

  • lol rendered with a standart gamer PC, i can imagine the 90 hours render time

  • no. its rendered in real time

  • what has this to do with my post?

  • you said it would take "90 hours" to render, however Pallenda kindly pointed out that it was rendered as it was recorded. (Using Fraps).

  • why i believe that you never touched a 3D program

  • and your reasoning for this is?

  • tell me since when you record 3D rendered footage with fraps to rerender it?

    - you can't view 3D footage in real time, it has to be prerendered

    - the prerender takes exactly the same time like rendering uselessness

  • It's rendered and recorded in real time... But obviously since you're watching it here, it's not real time...

  • then explain me please

why rendering and recording, instead of... rendering?

  • What do you mean? I had to render it, and record it at the same time so I'd have a video to upload... What dont you understand?

  • why not just rendering? A avi file appears and that was it

i get now the reasoning with fraps... but isn't it just the smarter way simply to render it out on the normal way?

  • wow.. sorry but if you dont understand that i think your never going to understand it, re-read the previous comments, they explain it perfectly well! I've given up trying, cya guys :)

  • i understand what they say, i just say that the way they used is senseless

  • Why would he need to render it?

You know, how about you download it and run it yourself? You seem to think that this demo was created in something like 3DS max, where each frame is saved and put together into an avi. That's not the case here at all: think of it like someone is recording a video game. It's rendered and recorded at the same time. No pre-rendering.

  • Why noone simply said this?

I thougt the demo was done by him, or by his friend who sent it to him, so it HAD to be rendered, not simply recorded

In this case i understand now why he either could not understand my point and i failed in seeing the truth here

    thanks for clearing up, regards

  • No problem. It's a hard concept to wrap around if you're already familiar with 3D modeling/animation software. That's why it's so amazing, it's akin to using Fraps to record a movie in the viewport in, say, 3DS Max.

In addition, the file size is so miniscule! All the textures and modeling is generated as soon as you run it, everything is made through code. You should Google demoscene for more stuff like this.

  • i'm very familiar with things like this...

and this is why i got shoked that someone uses fraps to finish his works... lol

  • and yes... motion design... animation... al of that stuff is insanely beautifull =D

  • @his1nightmare

its realtime like in games, theres no option to render to disk, so you have to use screen capture software.

  • I KNOW- I thought he made the scene itself, did still noone understand? but thanks-

  • Where can I get this now?

    The links are broken =[

  • hey, can u find this somewhere else? i'd like to run it but the links you have say invalid something so i cant find it please let me know i want to run this so badly

  • Ok, that's a Farbrausch challenge. They are the demoscene kings, only REAL programmers can do this.

  • so nobody has an answer as to how this is 177kb

  • wtf pictures are bigger than 177 kb

    this is insane !!!

  • Aww... The links don't work no more... :(

Awesome though, I really wanna see that program in the description some time. :)

  • I'll look for the files in the description, if I find them I'll be more than glad to upload them. :)

  • Thanks a lot. :D

  • Those names Andromeda Software, MFX Black lotus, Those are Demoscene, right? like Plastic?

  • interesting.

lol, what are those blocks things? :DDD

  • I think the blocks show off the lighting

  • It'd be nice if you actually gave a reason as to why it sucks, otherwise you just come off as an arrogant dick... Enjoy your negative thumbs...

  • this is a fr demo, just google farbrausch and you'll find their website with ALL their demos.

  • Thanks a bunch for that info, I'll be sure to edit the link into the vid info..

  • tehy should use this technology for xbox live arcade.

  • nice idea you should write a sugestion to xbox they might just do it.

  • this is not a hardware test video. This video is part of many that feature yearly by certain companies or indivudual teams to see what they can program without going over 1mb. This video is actually either 64k or 648k

it may sound far fetched but i am a games student and part of my games culture we were taught this stuff. Its likea challenge for certain people to develop the most high res product without going over a certain amount of memory!

  • wow, those were the day's, with the likes of dizzy and panic, they were two of the most impressive in the early 90's. Unfortunetly I can't remember any others off the top of my head, But I'm sure the memories will come flooding back ;)

  • lol there is a game out at the moment (well it's been out for a couple of years at least by now) but basically i think its something stupid like 850kb and its a full first person shooter with collision, multiple levels, particle effects, pick up's, enemies etc.

It just goes to show how much you can do with such little. If all games put a portion of their games under the spot light and really went for optimization everyone would be able to play games such as crysis. But the don't :(

  • blue screen of death while i load :P

  • update your vga drivers buddy.

  • lol, would that help?

  • it is uo to date..

  • What kind of hardware?

  • My comp sucks lol Geforce 6150le :P

  • Lol that's why...Abotu the only thing you can run on integrated graphics is maybe WoW...

  • i play Cod4...

  • Yeah but what settings? And what kind of frames do you get?

  • 35 on low :)

  • Crazybro191, I can assure you 100% this is legit...If it wasnt, would I put a video up about it, so someone could report it, so the admins can ban me? If you still think it's fake without checking it out, you can take your ignorant remarks elsewhere.

  • Nobody click on those links or download those "demos" as these are cheap hackers, bye.

  • Not a virus and btw theres an egoshooter named JKRIEGER or something , got some nice graphics and it got only 76kb

  • Sounds like a virus to me if this is only 177k in size. Thats only a few word documents at best.

  • Your loss man..Mediafire even scans it before you download it so you know it's safe...
