For cryin out loud people, this poor guy was so nervous!! Have you ever tried this for the first time or even the second time. He got his nerves under control in the second part of Comfort Ye and from there did a good job. I agree there is breath control issues. Try singing more from the diaphragm. There is definite potential here and I think this singer should continue to pursue singing. Confidence is an issue and only comes with more and more performing. Keep it up my friend.
WHERE did they find this clown?? who told him he could sing... god could he be any more pitchy? how does he dare to sing at all ! has he ever taken a singing class in his life?? I wouldn't dare to open my mouth to sing 1 note if I was as bad as he. thank god I'm not
No its straight-tone, and issues of breath support aside, he's actually doing a really good job.
Until the 1970s, the Messiah was performed in very much the same way as a Verdi opera with huge voiced soloists. The early music performance practice movement has shifted the pendulum towards performing baroque oratorio more authentically.
Straight tone is actually what would have been used during Handel's time, and many conductors are now not only appreciating it, but actually demanding it.
I think the hardest part for this guy singing this was the extremely slow tempo the conductor set -.-. I feel his pain.

Where was the Baroque ornamentation? I did this as a senior in HS, and it was 10x better...

It sounds like it, as he doesn't have much breath control or control over the higher notes.

I agree, the boy is shaking and you can hear the fear through his diaphragm that lacks on support....
