lets be professional and respectful people. This is a very good overview on winter sleeping bags. Its changed my opinion on one i was going to get so thanks for this, and keep making videos! Very imformative
@luvUtube247 Yes--- See her video about the "She-Wee" a Very good idea for girls, of course us Guys have it covered. ....Nothing like avoiding getting dressed and going out into thesnow and wind to pee. Yes, IF YOU ARE CAREFUL, you can do it without even getting out of your bag.....
Ok ok,in outdoor need much things, warm slepping bag,yes i have,a tent yes i have, energical food ok yes i have but you don't telle the secret of secret: in outdoor at night when it's very cold men needs warm womans (one or more)!!!
I used goose down bags in the military and they work great in really cold areas. However here in Texas it rains in the winter and then gets really cold after the front moves through. Goose down isn't worth a flip here. You need to match your gear to your enviroment. Wet or damp goose down bags just suck.
I also found the 0 degree rating on mine to be pretty accurate on a trip I did this winter where the night time low hit 0 our first night! I stayed warm though!
I sleep with Big Agnes!! forget the rest of this crap and look into Big Agnes sleeping systems! All insulation properties are lost when you compress your sleepingbag..Big Agnes incorporates the sleeping mat into the bag itself so all of your insulation is on top of you. If you like to sleep comfortably at night when backpacking I highly suggest Big Agnes..
@jetpowered1 Uhh, no it didn't. Synthetic is big and bulky. Not good if you're concerned about bulk/weight. Down is still better. More insulating power for space/weight.
Could you give me your thoughts on the North Face "Hotlum" sleeping bag. I just purchased it online. Its 600 fill goose down and pretty affordable for a down sleeping bag but i think its comfortability rating is only down to 15 degrees.
Down is great for holding in heat but if it gets wet then ur screwed and it will weigh a ton. I would go synthetic and then layer with a thermal tarp to reflect back your body heat. Add a ground mat with a good r value and place ur tent in an area with wind blocking trees like pines. Plenty of those in Canada eh : P
Canadian? Your Canadian? Your from the land of Hockey, Tim Horton's and Stockwell Day? For various reasons I always deduct points for folk who are Canadian because here in America we fought for our independence and Canada arbitrated for theirs. :)~
You have amazing eyes. Thanks for this review, i think i have a swiss special force winter down sleeping bag that is AMAZING. Only problem, its veeery voluminous and kinda heavy, but can withstand -40°C. It was a gift so i don't know its price.
Great video. I love down bags. I used to live in a cold climate and owned several down comforters of various weights, down jackets, and down sleeping bags. But as you stated, if it gets wet, not so good. I am slowly transitioning to synthetic. More weight, but I believe more durability, less cost, and better heat retention in wet weather. You are really a smart young lady. Enjoy your videos.
hey, saw a PHARROAH bag, must be mine, send it. and about the bottle, no thanks, rather be cold then piss in my bag. just pull it up over your head and breath a few, warms right back up. oh yeah, ill be expecting my bag soon. :-)
Which is best? down bags with continuous baffles so the down can be moved from the top side to the bottom in warmer months? or down bags with the down sewn into compartments so it can't move?. I thought continuous baffles sounded like a good idea, but I've heard a few people complaining of lumping of the down and cold spots? but then top brands like Western Mountaineering still make continuous baffled bags and they should know how to make a decent bag, so which is it in your opinion?
Which is best?continuous baffles around a down bag so you can move the down from the top side to the bottom side to get a cooler bag in warmer seasons?or having the down sewn into compartments so it can't move around?I've heard some people complain about 'lumping' of the down causing cold spots in continuous baffled down bags?

Which is best?continuous baffles around a down bag so you can move the down from the top side to the bottom side to get a cooler bag in warmer seasons?or having the down sewn into compartments so it can't move around?.I liked the idea of continuous baffles in theory,as I liked the idea of concentrating the down on top of me when I'm using a sleeping pad,but then in the warmer months I could just move it underneath me.But some people complain about 'lumping' and 'drafts' with continuous baffles?
i saw this gorgeous woman being filmed by some guy that should of bin me lol he was actually using a sony 5 mp hd video recorder i think lol i went and got the MEC Fleece Bag Liner Mummy ... i love mec :)
i use the northface synthetiic sleeping bag cuz condensation is a BIG PROBLEM in the winter
heat up water and take it with you into the bag. It better not leak tho.
Put your feet in in your gloves.
The cheapest and highest quality bag will be a Canadian or U.S. military surplus bag. The U.S. bags are down and poly filled and rated to -20. Roomy and time test tough. $60 Used.
agree the current U.S. Military bags are the absolute best by a LOOOONG shot. I would take a Mil bag outside in a bivy cover before I'd take one of these under cover in a tent
Its a comfort rating depends if you usually get cold although I would say you could add a bivi bag and fleece liner to increase temperature rating, get a bivi bag that breathes otherwise your sweat will freeze
It's possible you will die, but that depends on more factors than just how much you paid for your bag. Not sure where your negative attitude is coming from, maybe its all the natural light. Down is expensive and has benifits, poly fill is cheap and has benefits. 850 down cost more than $30 US an ounce. There are a couple pounds in that bag, and the bag is made in the USA not in china as your bag is

Western Mountaineering do not have welded seems or even water proof shells.
Winstopper is the best they can do.
They are also a tighter fit for a given size then other bags.
Not recommended for wet conditions or for large men.

What sleeping bag do you recommend from mec or where ever? I want it to be pretty compactable (if thats a word).

I don't care if its a established name.

Good tips.
Wear your poly or fleece thermals.
Eat a fatty meal before hitting the sack.
Fluff the bag up by giving it a good shaking.
heat up water and take it with you into the bag. It better not leak tho.
Put your feet in in your gloves.
