I always forget this is a game and end up trying to watch it like a cartoon and not play it like a game. The area move prompts flash and I'm sat there engrossed in the story as it were. lol. I had no idea this was available on HD DVD or Blueray. I now have an excuse to tell the wife I'm buying a blueray player. Ha ha. I already have an Xbox 360 HD DVD player.
LIVES 2.... falls down pit. LIVES 1.... walt disney comes out of the t.v. and cuts your head off. CONTINUE? 666.... (p.s. this game was made by one of the lead animators for this game....)
Just bought the version of this from the PS3 Store today...IMO the best port to date..nice HD visuals, no annoying pauses between moves/scenes like on the dvd...plays just like the arcade..worth the 10 bucks for sure !
this is movie from game or game? if actual game it looks great like you play a movie, no pop up like push button or others bar, you have to know fell what to do just great :)
Very close to the laserdisc version. Sega CD and 3DO aren't close enough. CD-I...almost. Atari Jaguar CD, very close to perfection considering it's a 64-bit system.
LOL I remember having a hella of a time with this game in the arcades, i never understood how to play it. You had an old arcade style roller ball and 2 buttons. I never figured it out.
@funnyxthings well, it seriously is the best port to date. along with beep sounds when you put in a move and all. alot of versions didnt have that. need to pick up space ace on blueray next!
Wasn't this game a bit dated for the Jaguar CD? I mean, we're talking a port of an arcade game over a decade old with no apparent change from the original. And it had already appeared on 3DO, CDi, and Sega CD long before this version showed up.
Are the sequences all the same? Meaning, could you just write down the correct way and eventually get through it? I've never played the game so wouldn't know.

I have this for the 3DO. The death scenes are so funny, sometimes I die on purpose. LOL
Panasonic did a good version of this, better than the Sega Cd.

My copy is still sealed. I've never found a working Jaguar CD at a reasonable price. I've never much cared for FMV games anyway.
STAY AWESOME! :)

Woah... the granddaddy of all FMV games.

I remember playing this game waaaaaaay back in the day at the arcade when I was a little girl.
It was really fun to play, but kinda hard. I never had enough money to play the whole thing!
Thanks for posting this! Oh, the memories . . .

I finished the game using a walkthrough... Don Bluth worked for Disney before, right?

Yes, he did.

Don Bluth worked for Walt Disney for mostly the features from the 1950's through the 1970's.

@viMasterJag
Some of the rooms actually flip, reversing the control pad buttons you need to press, but it doesn't make too much of a difference.

The 'trap' room is pretty easy to complete. Depending on which way Dirk is facing, the moves are: Left, Up, Right, Up, Sword, Right, and Left.
neomedia74 3 years ago
I see that you got about as far in Dragon's Lair that I did.
LethalKillingMachine 3 years ago
Yeah, that game is way hard. You basically have to memorize, so that's kinda hard to get all the way through like that :D
