They had to focus on a guy who could make buildings come alive and transfer minds and bodys. They have other people taking care of crowd control, and a black hole (small until the end) wouldn't have been noticed since they are fighting said Mage who could destroy world. and it was something to egg on the audience and leave questions unanswered to watch more.
