  • Strange how they told the drivers not to run 3 wide... I remember that year they had changed the equipment rules to make it easier for the cars to do exactly that so this was inevitable.

It always looked to me like the 3 wide scenario was what made Earnhardt's crash fatal. He touched up against the car below him, then as that led to him turning toward the wall the car above hooked him to a sharp angle of impact. If they had been 2 wide it wouldn't have been a big event.

  • Cool that while he's taking him for a ride, Magic Carpet Ride is playing. going to be in NASCAR 2003, the first game where Dale's car isn't featured as a weekly car.

  • i find it ironic that he dips below the line in the turn and jokes about losing control of the car at about the exact same place his fatal accident occurred. rest in peace man sucks so bad that happened to this man

  • @ 1:51 "What about turn 3, Dale? What's so special..." - Bradshaw

  • man i miss this guy. dale knew how to have fun and i just wished that i would had got to meet him and learn to be a real racecar driver unlike kyle bush

  • is that a UFO hanging a skull and crossbones flag behind terry bradshaw @1:03-1:15?

  • talk about chills and sadness rip

  • Chris Myers Said "people & Drivers Are Saying this Will Be The Greatest DAYTONA 500 EVER". Well The Beginning & Middle Was Great. But It Ended Up Being The Worst DAYTONA 500 EVER. RIP DALE!!!!!!

  • "Here let's pit!" LOL! and who was in the backseat with them? Just wondering. :-)

  • if he joined al quaeda, wore a turban, and drove backwards killing everyone including that dipshit kyle busch and boyfriend jimmy johnson, people would just say "thats Dale!"

  • 2:39 dale earnhart can do whatever the fuck he wants

  • i wonder how fast they were goin...

  • It's so sad that they said "May be the best Daytona 500 ever..."

  • 4:55 when nascar tells the drivers they can't race 3 wide you know something is wrong

  • WOW, Look how happy Dale was. I have never seen him that happy. I was seated in the Oldfield Tower in Turn 4 when his crash happened :( RIP Dale Earnhardt. Best Nascar driver ever!

  • dale hade one hell of a time on is last night it so sad he gone rip dale

  • . RIP Dale Sr.

  • I remember when this was going on!My brother and I had been camping in the infield since Wednesday afternoon on turn four ,as a matter of fact across from where Dales crash was,and we noticed a street car haul'n ass around the track up next to the wall and questioned one another about WHO was driving the car and why they were so close to the wall.Little did we know that in the car was BOTH of our longstanding heros.........WOW.........M.Lester......

  • Is it me ore does re watching the pre-race show things feel incredibly eerie.

  • @Sturmbannfuhrer21 Same here. Its cool to see him being his fun humorous self, but it's weird knowing this was less than 24 hours before it happened.

There were many ironic things that makes this even weirder. The expected "best Daytona 500 ever," FOX'x first NASCAR broadcast (I believe), him saying he's lucky when Terry's around, etc.

2:18 and 2:39 are the best parts.

RIP Dale, your memory lives on!

  • @Pacerace100 Yeah. I miss him. The sport has never been the same and there is still no leader in the garage like he was.

  • the winner aint the one with the fastest car its the one who refuses to lose

    Dale Earnheart,

  • haha 2:19 was the best and 2:41

  • I wonder what happened to that pace car. It was probably the last car he ever got out of alive sadly.

  • "I'm awful lucky when you're around" ....hmmmm ...startin' to 2nd guess that.. ...the prerace is eerie though.. ....RIP Dale!

  • I can't believe how ironic it is that they were saying that it could be the best 500 ever, and how they put the spotlight on dale, and how dale was having a great time. Can't even imagine what it must have been like to be one of the people that spent that night with dale, and at that time the next day, would be hearing about the tragedy. Dale was the best, will always be the best, and nobody will come close. NOBODY. Don't reply with your opinion, because this is a fact. Keep it to yourself.

  • That was his last night alive. You could really see how pressure free he was, and how much he was really enjoying life. I always hated him and rooted against him... but man what a tragedy.

  • R.I.P. Dale Sr.!!!!!

  • Not too many people could drive a street car that well.

  • Austin Dillan is going to ruin the #3's rep

eh, no worse then robby gordon destroyed Kulwicki's number

  • @Rcrby525

    who's Austin Dillon?

  • Richard Childress's son, he is racing a black number 3 bass pro sponsored truck for Richard in the CWTS this season.

  • @1986Sheri

    Richard Childress' grandson I think.

  • @1986Sheri yeah its richard childress' grandson who races the #3 bass pro shops chevy in the camping world truck series

  • I miss Dale he was not just the best racer I ever saw but he was one funny guy,i love all his interviews,i would have loved to have gotten the chance to meet him

  • 99boys shut the hell up, you obviously know shit about racing, get the hell out of here with that horseshit

  • This is funny but sad at the sametime. NASCAR has gone to hell in a row boat. Dale sr and Bill France sr are flipping in there graves. GOD BLESS THEM BOTH

  • Kinda strange how they talk about Turn 3. Most of the time. :(

  • at least he had fun on his last night...

    R.I.P. Dale Sr.

  • he wasn't awfully lucky this time with terry bradshaw there sadly :(

  • RIP Dale Earnhardt FOREVER <3 we will never forget the legend he will always be in our hearts

  • 2:34 werid becasue he did that the next day. He could of let the backend go into the wall. But he tried to save it.

  • He would have saved it if Schrader wouldn't have hit him, look closely

  • Miss that guy so much. Yea he looked like he was havin the best time. He went out on top for sure.

  • you don't deserve to live, totallyfedupwithit

  • spinning people out? rubbins racing buddy, go kill yourself and this is coming from a stewart fan

    RIP #3

  • LOL

  • Man, can you believe the video. It makes my heart heavy. He was having fun and excited for Terry to be there. I can't believe the outcome. RIP Dale, we miss you!

  • Notice the tragic irony when Earnhardt said you don't want to get on the apron because you getall out of shape? He was in Turn 4 when he did that.

  • Terry & Dale Sr.'s "victory celebration" on the hood of the pace car also looks eerily similar to Dale Jr & Michael Waltrip's celebration in the grass after the Pepsi 400 that year.

  • Good opstervtion.

  • i can barely watch this...look how much fun he was having...you can hear the joy in his voice...RIP Dale...Go 88!!!!!

  • Dale was a great man

  • RIP Dale Earnhardt

  • you are a ugly ass dickferd

  • And remember it was the first official Fox reports of Nascar/Daytona racing, taking place of CBS. Not always my favorite driver but does it really matter? Always among the greatest.

  • nice post looks like he had some fun

  • Thanks for posting this. "Jump out like you won!" I have been looking for this for seven years.

  • hahah Dale did a nice "pit" at 2:40

  • dude the date is Febuary 18th not 17th

  • The night before the race was the 17th.

  • its kind of ironic that at 2:32 in the video when dale pretended to lose the car when he went onto the apron its the exact spot he lost it in the 500 the next day.

  • Not it's not.

  • yep it is

  • @Rowdy2x I never realized that until you pointed it out :(

  • Was this the night before the 2001 daytona 500, i think it was that is chilling knowing he died the next day. Rest in the peace the greatest race car driver ever.

  • Ha this is great...man if only Dale were still around...but its cool to see his last...erm.."victory"

  • last night before Dale died!!!

  • could you immaigne that intervew if it happend after the 500 with terry bradshaw and earnhardt oh boy

  • lol "Now were doin it in racecars, this is a dang-ol street car"

    R.I.P. Dale

  • ya know I so badly wish that this WAS the greatest 500 ever. I guess it just wasnt meant to be
