Loretta was positive Roz Russell was going to win for "Mourning Becomes Electra" (and so did Roz) and came in a gown not meant for climbing stairs. Her win, for a slight comedy ("The Farmer's Daughter") shocked just about everyone but, in retrospect, seems perfectly logical.
