  • amazing

  • LOOK HOW OLD DIS IS

  • I adore everything about this band

  • bass and drums at around 3:15 <3333

  • what guitar is chris walla playing?

  • could someone please try to tell me what kind of guitar Chris is playing?I cant find one that's the same and there's nothing on any gear pages.

  • @bobert995 looks like a les paul jr...

  • "We re-recorded Stable Song. I wanted to put it in a different frame from where it was with The Photo Album, because when we recorded it as "Stability" for The Photo Album, with the big, scary, bleak-ass outro, that was the sound of a band falling apart. That was the sound of us just hating on one another and not trusting and not whatever. And I've always loved that song..I wanted to put it in the other frame and see what it would sound like. And it seemed really appropriate for (Plans). - Walla

  • "We have the facts and were voting yes" is truely their best work. Anyone heard the

The John Byrd E.P.? Frign amazing!!

  • @TheMoek1 I absolutely love that album, Title Track, For what Reason, Company Calls, Little furry Bugs etc. They are amazing!

  • i wanna be with one of these guys becausene one that can mae music like this and change my life i ve gotttta b with

  • man that was a jam session !

  • I love this song

  • why did this get thumb downed 6 times?

ben is probably one of those really awkward quiet people who isn't extremely sociable or comfortable with himself in front of people, but that's where he gets his inspiration from. leading to amazing music :)

  • @wateva92 envy i'm thinking.

  • DAMNNN I love Ben Gibbard.

    So much. ;o;

  • Me too...but Chris seems so much nicer...

  • Yeah he does. =P He's cute too.

But Ben... Ben is just totallyyyy adorable. FDSsdlsjdkjfskdl. -keyboard spazz-

And his voice makes me melt every time.

  • Haha, Ben's my idol and inspiration. And Chirs is awesome. Haha. I have a hard time deciding who like better haha.

  • Gah yes.

I like Ben more, but Chris is also really cute.

And he does seem really nice.

But it's definately Ben Gibbard fer me. < 3

  • chris is my favorite.

  • this vid is great cos it shows how unknown the band used to be/ playing all crammed together in a small room just giving it their all. and now look how far they've come.

  • i love the plans version and i love plans but i think transatlanticism is better than plans personally

  • i love transatlanticism, but out of all of them i love the photo album best. < 3

  • nah dude transatlantiscism ftw

  • just beautiful. Everybody committed to the song - thats how great music is made. In particular I really appreciate McGerr's discipline - so skilled a drummer keeping it so simple - thats a sign of a true professional

  • ben gibbard is the jack kerouac of the music world, i am in the same boat i love the plans version but this version, my god.

  • i was wondring can you tell me why in plans they named it the stable song?

  • The thing a love most about dcfc is they are os real. no effects, or weird sound, just them playing from their hearts <3 I love this band. I can only hope that one day I will be able to write songs as well as Ben Gibburd

  • Seriously. Writing like Gibbard would be so awesome.

  • I have the Plans CD on my iPod and I love Stable Song, but when I heard it was just a shortened version of this I had to listen to it. Both songs are amazing but this one idk there's something about its hard to explain its amazing <3

  • buitfuil song and ben if u can hear me i cant wait till ur concert at bellingham at april 22 i am ur biggest fan man!!!!!!!

  • this video looks like from the 80s

  • I really like their "wall of sound" approach. With each of their records, there's a certain texture to it. I like the fact that they take the time to actually think about these things.

  • dude ur so right i never thought of that so true man ever lesson to there old stuff

  • They rock! :)

  • after getting known the music death cab makes, I'm listening differently to other music, it changed a lot. They're really good, I'm so excited for their concert on 11/24 in Germany.

Sorry for mistakes, I'm german, my english sucks :/

  • No it doesn't ^^

  • Actually, I think it does.

If you compare Transatlantism with Narrow Stairs, they are very different. It's not just that the lyrics and tunes change, it's deeper than that. The undertones are different.

  • I think she was referring to frischgesicht's english.

  • Oh! Okay. That makes sense. ^^

  • well, Idk about that, Transastlanitism and Narrow stairs are a bit similar in style, but I know what you mean. I think though, that Plans is where they really changed their style, and back again in NArrow Stairs, but that's just my view.

  • I love this song, it's really moving.

I like listening to it while I drive home at night on the highway, all alone in my car passing under those strange orange street lights.

  • I really like to listen to it on my commute from work as well. It's usually 4:00 in the a.m. and it really makes me feel great. Of course, it has to be Stability and not just Stable Song.

  • This is my commute song too. Works best during winter, in the evening.

  • umm i teared a lil lol....so felt this!

  • they fell the music, incredible, just as Anathema

  • cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!california Style!!!!!!

  • honestly, i bet if death cab really wanted to they could practice in a nice big expensive space. But they are not spoiled bastards, they are down to earth guys, and they would rather live simple lives and do what they love which is play music. They dont need a nice practice space to make them good.

  • haha reminds me of me old band, all cramped upp

  • @tippin1 right, but isn't this actually a nice practice space? :) Fits the atmosphere!

  • One of my favorite Death Cab songs. I hope they play it live this summer!

  • sweet.

  • Lord, that soft-focus is something else.

  • If this is a rehearsal for Stability and not the more revised "Stable Song", why is Jason in this video and why is there no piano?

  • this was recorded before Plans. They hadn't even begun recording for Plans yet. This film was them on tour supporting Transatlanticism. So, they probably hadn't even thought of shortening this song into Stable Song yet.

  • Unless I'm very much mistaken, that shitty-ass silver Buick at the beginning with the broken door is Ben's car, or should I say his "gray sub-compact." He probably has enough money by now to have bought a different one.

  • LMAOOO his gray sub-compact!!!!

  • no way that was his!....actually yeah, it probably was. LOL

  • Molly718, I think you're very much mistaken. "We Looked Like Giants" is a song, not a chapter out of a history book. True, Gibbard writes about people in his life, but I think it's stretching the truth to think that he would own a car that he possibly never even had, but much less one that (if the song is 100% fact) he probably owned 15 years ago. Plus the "silver Buick" is not a gray-sub compact...man, why the hell are we talking about this?

  • by far the best dcfc song...so chill...perfect high song

  • I love the mood.

  • heh, what's with the ghetto rehearsal space. you'd think dcfc could find a nicer space :)

  • People need to realize that the music industry is tough. Because you're well known/liked doesn't necessarily mean you're rich. The only money (particularly indie artists) get is pretty much from touring & appearances. Record sales for indie artists isn't really relevant considering how easily music can be downloaded off the net.

  • your totally right man. the music industry is really tough. people need to appreciate dcfc they are amazing and they deserve way more respect than half of those shitty 1 hit wonder bands today

  • death cab gets royalties for all of their hits. Im sure they live comfortably. And yeah they get most of their money from touring, which is probably a lot seeing as they sell out arenas.

  • favorite death cab song ever

  • My favorite band!!!

Cool version of The Stable Song...

The voice blends into the music instead of vice versa.

    Very cool!!!

  • It's actually the original song first released on the Stability EP

  • my band

  • America's band

  • Right on, this is an awesome song.

  • dear lordy. i love death cab
