This or super metroid as SNES greatest hour, disregarding mario world and zelda link to the past, oh how i love the SNES, gameplay at it's raw simplicity. Don't get games like this anymore, another cod anyone? nah thought not :p
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as the Castlevania series. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
I remember when I first played this back in the day being blown away by the incredible music on stage 1 and thinking that they couldn't possibly have any tune as good as Simon Belmont's theme in the subsequent levels. I'm happy to say I was wrong!
Years after I first played this stage I discovered a hidden extra life behind one of the foreground pillars, when you're walking through the water section. I can't believe I was that young when I played this so much.
Yeah that's what I like about certain games. Whenever you don't want to play the game and just want to here the music, go to Options and play Sound Test.
Most of the time, half of out of the games in the world doesn't have one, other times you have to "Unlock" it.
Oh how I miss these days. Now games are looking more real but with massive problems like screen tearing that ruin the experience. This was when games were fun. Now its a world full of bad ports and graphical glitches.
ohh man, wasn't this a launch title for the SNES? man this music brings me back.
I remember being a kid and inviting all of my friends over to see the medusa with the boobies. heh heh, oh the ways we had to satiate ourselves before the internet.
SNES had Super Mario World, Link to the Past, Castlevania, Actraiser, and more, probably the best launch line up of any console.
I remember this because I was 8 when it came out and slaved away under my parents making the 200 that it cost back in 1991. I still have that SNES, and it still works fine to this day (the thing is 18 years old!) and I remember going to the store and looking at all the games. I had to go with Link to the Past, but Castlevania 4 was #3. Great game
Underrated song from an amazing soundtrack. Always had a soft spot for that one, thought it really fit the mood. :P But yeah, the soundtrack as a whole was unique.
I think they need to make a new Castlevania in the style of this game... although they would probably mess it up with motion controls.

This is one of the most well rounded soundtracks ever. There really isn't any poor songs on it.

I'm probably just stating the obvious.....but doesn't this theme borrow from Donkey Kong?
Coldmilk51312 1 year ago
@Coldmilk51312
I can't even see the similarity, aside from maybe the percussion used...but it's not like Donkey Kong is the only series that has it.

@Coldmilk51312 Which Donkey Kong? Donkey Kong Country came out 3 years after Super Castlevania IV..

Oh god I love this song, the beat is strong and the melody is haunting..
I always tap my feet to it when playing!!
And whistling too..
And as I am distracted like that I die a lot in Level 2 xD
But I don't care because I get to listen to the music a bit longer then!!

Launch title for the SNES. And yet one of my favorite games. Maybe my favorite Castlevania.
Think about it though, few launch titles are that good.

Whoa, they were launch titles? My bad. I knew only about SMW and Super Castlevania, I didn't know about Zelda ;o
Here in Brazil we only got up to date with Gamecube (and XBOX I guess).

This game's music has an atmosphere like no other - it hits the old gothic style bang on. Very illustrative music is yummy.

Why does the Castlevania have such an awesome selection of soundtracks?
theinsanething 3 years ago 7
because it is the epitomy of greatness. the games' music (except for some "underground ones") can easily be defined as epic.

howcome every song in castlevania 4 always had a nice beat?

This is the worst Castlevania soundtrack.
If I had to choose a song from this game, I would have chosen Palace.
