Fascinating photographs . . . Very personal(for Alcala), very mysterious not only for their anonymity, but their association to a killer. Amazing how trusting people can be under the 'right' circumstances and how different the times were more than thirty years ago. The camera was simply a tool to gain the trust of potential victims, to distract and put them at ease. Who doesn't mind being photographed by a charismatic, intelligent, good looking staff photographer from Life, Time, Vogue, etc?

@zartanhatesyou Alcala is admittedly attractive: to be able to get into his victims' personal space, put them at ease and then pose them in 'his' space, there would have to be something disarming not only with his 'charm' but his physical appearance. The photos are both fascinating and very disturbing, and many of the subjects look uneasy.

God, if you didnt know who took them, and why he likely snapped the photos, most of the photos are downright beautiful.. It's so strange that someone who was capable of doing such terrible things could have such an eye for beauty.. It makes me wonder, is it possible to separate someones bad/wicked/evil acts from their good/positive/pleasing ones? .. If you look into it, a lot of serial killers have been artistically gifted..

According to wikipedia that 21 of the women came forward meaning they were alive. 6 of families said they disappeared but never found them. We don't know who, but the scary thing is that at least one or more of those photos may be one of his victims. We don't know who. 900 other photos from that storage locker were sexually graphic they couldn't be released to the public.

@davidallenroth, in the Wikipedia page a few of the famalies did and said that their loved ones disappeared, but we don't know which ones. That does scare me that one of those pictures was probably one of his victims or more.

Not much coverage and there were other cases similar to this that was going on in the LA area at that time. Also, since your a man he may be a creep to you, but take a look under a woman's perspective. He may be good looking and smooth talker. Remember Ted Bundy was like that good looking a smooth talker, on the outside wouldn't hurt a fly. Looked how many people he killed.

These women have one common feature. The hair. The long flowing hair parted in the center or on one side. All shoulder length hair. And then look at Rodney Alcala himself. He has the same feature.
