  • Got this album when it came out, and to this day, imo ---> Best. Solo. Ever.

  • memory screen!!!!

  • my god the two dislikes must like britney

  • I LOVE Dinosaur Jr.'s manic jamming and subtle tempo changes. Truly revolutionary even now.

  • I love me some Dinosaur jr

  • Awesome another band i can include in my collection of music!

  • it's a shame these guys aren't popular. I'm 17, if it were up to me these guys would be dominating the music industry and rock would be the most appreciated genre instead of whatever the hell it is right now

  • @TheCharlesDanger Why would you want to do that? it's much better to keep these things our secret, makes the music sound even better.

  • @TheCharlesDanger avtually, these guys we're dominating back in the 80s, even though I'm 12 I read up on these guys and they used to be pretty big, to the point where they were on MTV at one point, then they faded into obscurity, but lucky for us skaters, everyone knows who Dinosaur Jr. is

  • @TheCharlesDanger i like it being an underground scene, the reason the popular genres are corrupted is because of the people that listen to popular music, i want to hang out with people at shows who care enough about music to dig a little

  • this song is epic use to listen to when I was wee boy now 25 still brings that youthful joyful fucking epicness back

  • If you don't nod your head listening to this song then something is clearly wrong with you.

  • 80s stuff is their best

  • GREAT!

  • I will never understand those people who do not get Dinosaur Jr and that is fine with me....I repeat....I will never understand those people who do not get Dinosaur Jr and that is fine with me.

  • I'll always love this song No Way To Collapse The Lung!!!!!!

  • @SANITYFADES79 well said, i agree!

  • Why the SOAD bashing? People love to compare and contrast "who sounds better". WHO CARES!? It's just music and it's subjective.

  • @MarquisVonMonster

    Wrong.

    When dealing with opinions-

If they like DJR they're right. If not. Burn them.

  • freakin perfection. S'right.

  • System of a Dawn was still in the garage when this was recorded. look up the lyrics.

  • the tone, the beauty, one of the best dino songs ever...love the intro

  • Maura Jasper's cover, J, Lou, Murph, EVERYTHING

  • I watched Rob d's memory screen part on the thasher website and I then had to find out what this song was, I knew it was Dino, they're one of my favorite bands but I just had to find out, it's better then rasins and thats pretty good

  • @JayTheHelmetGuy dino jr was also one of my favorite bands ever way before i ever heard them

  • I got this album the year it came out, and this has been my favourite guitar solo of all time ever since, bar none. Shivers down my spine every time i hear it, and that is thousands of times by now.

  • This is one of the greatest songs on one of the greatest albums put out by the BEST band to ever grace the face of the planet. It doesn't get better than this.

  • I will find the one bastard that disliked this and cook him in my pot.

  • @rorschachstiffocate mustard phrase fella.could not stop laughing.fucking brilliant

  • As far as I'm concerned they were a huge influence in music period

  • Well they didn't necesarily rip em off well foo didn't but Kurt cobain did say in an interview Tht they were just copying dino jr

  • 2:24 - 2:38

The best fourteen seconds of any song of all time!

  • One person should get a beat-down, poor bastard

  • My Itunes has this listed at 978 plays. I've only had a comp for two years.

  • @Kazutops Damn dude...

  • no way to collapse the lung!

  • love when it kicks into overdrive around :35...this song rocks

  • @VodoconLeader exactly

  • The Foo Fighters & Nirvana ripped off Dinosaur Jr in so many ways but yet i still luv all 3 WTF either way my Favorite Dino Jr song right here FUCK YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @SANITYFADES79 that's pretty freaken fake, theres no way you could prove that.

  • i agree with most people in these comments, this song is a daily listen for me. most days its 3 or 4 listens.

  • 20 years ago, I must have put this song on every comp tape I made. Thanks to Chris at CD Warehouse in Sunnyvale for turning me onto this band and many others. See that volume dial on the corner? Make sure it's all the way up.

  • @northerntao yeah Sunnyvale

  • This song shreds my mind and burns my heart FUCK YEA!!!!!!!!!! DINO RULES i love Mascis he may talk slowly & monotonously but he sings to tears damn this song reminds me of the life i am yet to have

  • One of my favourite's solos, not only of Mascis's. Both rythmic and melodic, both hard and sweet.

  • One of my favourite's solos, not only of Mascis's. Both rythmic and melodic, both hard and sweet. Later albums' solos are often too long and a bit annoying.

  • This shit's so good, today's indie is a fucking punchline.

  • @areallystupidguy alot of it isn't bad. but most of the more popular bands like MGMT only have like one good song

  • @yamon98 mgmt sucks

  • @yamon98 Mgmt has one popular album, oracular spectacular. Most of the songs on that album suck. Their other stuff is great.

  • @squillysk8 so bummed to even see "mgmt" in the comments of an amzing dinosaur jr song

  • @lifelongliving What are you implying there?

  • Comment removed

  • @squillysk8 mgmt is terrible obv...

  • @lifelongliving There's really no point in arguing whether mgmt is good or not. I like psychedelic music, so I like mgmt, simple.

  • @lifelongliving Whats with all the MGMT hate, their really "out there" ,don't dissimiss them just because one of there songs became popular. There got lods of great pysciledic rate and i would listen to them rather than Dinosaur jr's later stuff.

  • @synth77 coming from someone who listens to system of a down, ok, well anything you say is basically invalid.

  • Comment removed

  • @lifelongliving Thats my brother and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with that song.

  • @synth77 wasnt saying anything about your brother hes obv a great drummer im just say that song is for goths its fake metal, its weird.

  • @lifelongliving you are a class 'a' shithead.

  • @manka6 why, for saying facts?

  • @lifelongliving It's not 'fake metal', it's not goth. It's Lo-Fi and it's a completely different genre of music you moron.

  • @manka6 Doesn't change the fact that it fucking sucks.

  • @cancerslugg don't like it, don't listen--simple

  • @dawnsal System of a Down should not be mentioned on a Dinosaur Jr. song.

  • Nothing like a song that touches the soul : )

  • I like both Sublime and Dinosaur Jr

  • totally perfect song

  • mascis solos always make me smile.

  • wow...im definitely going to sk8 to this song...

  • one of the best indie songs of all time

  • One of the most amazing songs ever!

  • Lollapalooza 93 was great (Buckeye Lake, OH here). Dinosaur Jr. was the loudest show I ever heard (Newport ->Columbus,OH), in a good way :).

  • @djgoofyd YEAH!!!! THE NEWPORT!

  • i love this song and memories of lollapalooza 93

  • perfect

  • all of you should find every live version of this song from the late 80s and 90s that you can. they rape the LP version, in my incredibly accurate and humble opinion

  • @FuckingStanz: " in my incredibly accurate and humble opinion"

I would never have guessed that Julie Burchill was a Dinosaur Jr fan.

  • I enjoyed that. I want more like this.

  • im not lying when i say i listen to this song everyday

  • @3waystopcock, intresting user name!

  • me too

  • @3waystopcock

    been there dude...

but now in this stage of my life, i listen to other stuff everyday. that is just how life goes

  • @3waystopcock That's because you rule.....and you "get it."

  • @3waystopcock i listen to this song everyday too mate :-) i love this song :-)

  • @3waystopcock me neither

  • you;ll go a long way to find a better fucking song than that DJ are the dogs bollocks xx

  • YYYYYEEESSSSS

  • I saw them last month.....no words

lou is the man !!!!! he keeps it so strong

J nearly split my head in two pieces,

  • This is my favorite DJ song, gotta put that shit on repeattttttttt!!!

  • vote 5 on this until my hand falls off

  • exactly :D

  • this is awesomenessssssssssssss X10

  • The guitar is out of tune on this one, right?

  • ofc

  • A little bit, yeah. Jazzmasters are hard to keep in tune.

  • Just saw them last Saturday in Columbus, OH. To say it was an amazing show was an understatement! And they played The Lung! I fuckin rocked out to that more than any other song they played that night!

  • just fucking truely great!!!

  • oh yes, not punk, not grunge, just music, no labels, only dinosaur jr

  • nothing constricts music more than a concept of genre

  • One of the finest...ever.

  • put this shit on repeat!

  • YEAH MAN

  • were din jr. considered punk back in the 80's?

  • They've always been hard to classify. Back then I think most people would have put them as alt or indie. By the 90s they were lumped into grunge a lot. They have some noise rock and a bit of punk depending on the songs. But I don't think enough that they were ever really primarily classified as either.

You can call them punk if you want, it's not like they fit into any genre that well. I consider them grunge mostly myself.

  • no. post punk era... came from a hardcore backround.

  • Dinosaur Jr also have a lot of poppy melodies.

I hear Brian Wilson in the vocal melody on Tarpit and some others.

  • @aclopezestrada

I wouldn't consider them "Punk". But they have a lot of Punk Rock influences. I know J. and Lou were part of Deep Wound, which was a Hardcore Punk band.

  • @SuperUnison92 punk is not a specifice genre of MUSIC

why do you think's everything with punk in it, ska/punk, hardcore punk, reggae/punk, rockabilly/punk, i think it's more you're attitude about why you're doing what you're doing and what you want to do with that

  • @nymetsrock D. Boon couldn't have said it better himself!!!

  • @aclopezestrada

    no, they weren't English.

  • I'm not surprised it's d jr's favourite album. Interesting to know though. it's an exceptional album even for someone who isn't particularly into his work.

  • the guitar alone in this song has so much raw emotion, truely one of the greatest records ever made. and i love all kinds of music and bands but this work is on such a higher level than most musicians could hope to reach, not to mention its j's favorite album hes ever made

  • Legendary band!

Im gonna see them live 27 August!!!

cant wait, to get my ears blown away

  • sublime sucks compared to the specials. they arent even a decent ska band , just poppy. dinosaur jr are an amazing underground american band so f*** off!

  • at least have the balls to say fuck off in an argument

  • Sublime aren't in the same musical genre or league as the specials. Fuck off!!!!!

  • bringin ters to my eyes i shoulda done more w my life hahah ugh

  • i firstheard this song adter i stole the tape when i was about 11 years old.. that was 21 years ago..to this day this is one of the best songs on one of the best albums ive ever heard..

    sublime was alrite rip kid

  • jeez louise...watched a nirvana vid...commentors are arguing about nickelback....now wathing a dino.jr vid folks are talking about sublime!!

    sweet lord.....mongoloids everywhere.

  • to everyone who is arguing about sublime and whatnot, and comparing them, first read albertios's comment. the just listen to the damn song, and be happy with what you got.

  • if an album sells millions it has nothing to do with the quality of music it just shows how sublime has comercial songs that can be played to the masses dino jr is preety popular and has a big fan base but its still underground you cant compare the two and is very different genre of music so how is it relevent to compare them

  • this song is fucking 1 of the best ever

  • j mascis is genius!

  • seriously! j is soooooooooo good

  • possibly the best song ever written

  • sublime? you have to be kidding, they are terrible junior high tripe. the doors also had terrible songs. the rest of the choices are good.

  • wow......u know nothing about music, do you???

  • Comment removed

  • Sublime? their songs dont even have progressions. The Lung is one of the most intelligent guitar progressions ever.

    Get from here, immediately.

  • dinosaur jr pretty much pioneered the sound of grunge and 90s rock while motley crue and madonina ruled the airwaves. what did sublime do?

  • Yeah it's an annoying white boy version of reggae that did about 1/1000th grunge did.

    Case closed, thank you.

  • hahahahahahahhaa ok dude

  • hate to break it to you but ska has been aeound for a couple decades before sublime ever played their first show.

  • ok dude

  • Comment removed

  • Ha ha,are you a fucking idiot or what? I"m sure Sublime have influenced a lot of bands but nowhere near as many as Dinoaaur Jr.

And yes,ska has been around since the 60's and ska punk as we know it from the late 80's although you could argue that The Specials were a ska punk band.

  • that solo makes me jizz every time god

  • I was listening to this album nonstop for a week before I realized there's only two lines of lyrics in this whole song.

    I love Dinosaur Jr.

  • yea, lol!! i did the same thing.

  • hard to belive Rob Dyrdek skated to this back in 1991, in other words, so good!!!!!

  • I've always heard of this band, but didn't ever listen to them. Then I saw a video of Dyrdek skating to The Wagon. I was blown away.

Awesome name btw, I'm still stuck in the 90's myself.

  • Whoa... I'm just getting into this band. Heard that they were awesome, but this song is just blowing me away.

  • One of my favorites. But they're all my favorites. Dino Jr is my favorite. Yeah, thats it.

  • The best song they ever released. Thanks for uploading :)

  • well said

  • Brilliant song, brilliant album, brilliant band.

    What more can I say??
